I wish there was an actual good answer to this...
It's a million dollar question in our quest for the holy vape.
All I can say is:
What is your Vape Budget? (some of these mech mods can get stupid $$$$$$$$) This is really the most important deciding factor for me.

What type of firing button do you want? (There are bottom fire buttons, bottom/side pinky buttons and some top/side index/thumb buttons) When deciding this, I like to consider the top device I intend to use on it. If it's something that is best vaped in a certain orientation (like a genesis), then I'd recommend a bottom fire button. If you're just going to use a tank style or dripping atty/RDA, then a bottom side "pinky" button might be a bit more comfortable.

What features are a must? (you mentioned locking button and adjusting positive pin.) There are also, adjustable air-flow, slots for air flow, recessed 510 connections for eGo style cartos/attys, etc.

Once you figure those things out... Start looking at some reviews. Good luck! Let us know when you pick one. :)

Please remember that mechanical mods are very much advanced vaporizing systems and require considerably more knowledge than us mere mortals who use regulated systems.

APV Discussion

I'm not saying that you don't have the requisite knowledge or that you can't acquire it. Just that these can be dangerous and expensive.

I agree that there are so many out there this question is too vague. How much $ do you want to spend? Even if your budget was limitless, a lot of mech mods are hard to get a hold of. I would recommend a JustGG, but the preorders are filled and there may only be a few hundred left for sale once they go up for sale. Watch as many reviews on Youtube as you can.

Absolutely right. I forgot to mention that these things have to potential to be dangerous, depending on the set up. Please do your homework about battery safety and all that. I assumed from the beginning that you were aware of these risks, but neglected to realize that you could have just "heard the buzz" about mech mods. I apologize if I assumed incorrectly.
That being said, you can really get an equally satisfying vape from a multitude of "regulated devices" out there.
