Hey, I've been into vaping for almost a year now and I'd like to say I'm not a complete noob but I'm still not too versed yet in the vaping industry. I'm looking to buy my first mech mod (I currently have an IPV5), and I'm wondering what you guys suggest for a decent mech mod. I don't need anything too crazy, as I'm kinda on a budget (preferably $100 or less), but one that will definitely be worth the purchase. What kind of suggestions do you have? I've looked at the petri lite v2 but I'm not sure if I necessarily need to dish out that much money or not on my first mech.

TLDR version: looking to buy my first mech mod for ~$100 or less, any suggestions?

Well right now I got a Double Vision rda, use about 40-50ml of juice weekly, so I'm changing my batteries almost daily. I'm just figuring I got a regulated box mod, and now I'm feeling like stepping into the world of unregulated mech mods. I'm definitely looking for good flavor/clouds too.
What kinds of tanks, rda's, atomizers, power requirements, ejuice amount vaped daily? Its really dependent on how you plan to use the mod.

In general, you can get like 3 different decent mods for 100 dollars, that will fill any spec requirements you have, unless your trying to get fancy...

Cheaper, unless you want something authentic (rather than a clone) very elaborately decorated mod.
Will a clone be a good purchase? I'm not too worried about authenticity, but if clone vs authentic is a matter of quality then maybe it would be worth it to save up for an authentic mod. Will a clone perform well (assuming I purchase the right kind)? I'm definitely into chasing clouds, although I don't need something that's going to win me competitions necessarily

Are you saying I can find a good mech for cheaper? Or the opposite?

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough. Cheaper for sure. Mechs are not that expensive, even the good clones. You can get a good quality, exact replica of most mods for around $20-$30, sometimes cheaper. Of course, that doesn't includes batteries or an atty. But even still you should be out the door well under $100, for an entire setup. Not just the tube or box.

For $100+, you're looking at an authentic tube, Reo, or custom hand made wood mod.

Purchasing a quality made clone should offer you pretty much the same performance as the original. Remember, a mech mod is a tube with a cap at one end, an attachment for your rda on the other, and a fire switch. Very simple, with not much that can break.

However, you must have a clear understanding how batteries, coils and electricity work together. There are no protection chips in there to prevent you from doing a bad thing which will result in potentially something very bad happening. Know your battery, understand the importance of building your coil correctly and measuring its resistance before use, and double check you calculations that they will all work together within the power rating (the real one, not the over-inflated marketing one) of the battery of your choice.

You have to buy smart. Alway read the reviews. I recommend a one to one clone (exact replica) from Hcigar of your mod of choice. They're excellent quality, and cheap. But there's no reason you can't get quality from a clone. The good one to one clones, the difference between them and the authentic is basically price.

Be careful cloud chasing. Always respect the max amps of your batteries. Don't build lower than what your batteries are rated for. And I suggest leaving a little wiggle room too, just because max amps of your batteries will diminish with age and you won't necessarily know the difference. Especially when you're new to mechs. Always check your atty before using it on your mech. Both to make sure you're within a safe ohm range, and to make sure you don't have any shorts. You're going to want to pick up an ohm meter and multimeter if you go ahead with the mechs.

Honestly? In my opinion regulated VW mods are better for cloud chasing these days. Not that I'm trying to talk you out of getting a mech. Especially with the coming regulations, a mech is a good investment. They're hard to break and easy to repair. Just be careful, and know what you're doing. You have to be the safety feature with mechs, because there aren't any in the mod.
