I am brand new to the world of mech mods, I got my first via amazon (since I was given a gift card ) I got a K101, and 2 18650 efest batteries for under $30. can anyone give me some of their experience with this particular mod? my current rba is an octopus clone.
The k101 was my first mechanical mod, I really liked it for the price. The only thing i didnt really like was how the screw part for the battery kind of felt cheap and made a squeaky noise every time i twisted it on the battery.
Best advice I can give you is learn to use it safely, before pushing the button. This will require a ohm meter, volt meter, knowledge of battery safety and know how to use ohms law and how it relates to vaping.
All of it for under $30? NOT BAD!! But what kind of batteries??? I got one several month ago and it's become my all day MOD. The switch is a little finicky at times, but not bad enough I've gone seeking to fix it. I got this https://www.fasttech.com/p/1490300 for mine so I could kick it with 18350-18650. One thing I would recommend, get a 2 cent fuse. I don't recommend this for protection, though it's good for that also, but mine always leaves a mark on the batteries from the switch.... the fuse now takes the arc as it grounds/fires instead of the battery. I'm happy with it
The 101 was the first mech I purchased and its been flawless in performance. If you got the kit with the cardo on it then that will be good for testing eliquids with. I've used mine with PT2, RDA and RBA and currently have a Kraken sitting on it. I have efest batteries as well and have not had a problem with them but I buy from a reliable source. Enjoy and take care.
the efest batteries I have are red 2000 mah, also I have a SmokTech "Mini" RBA - AKA "Squid" , and one of the screws seems to be stripped at near the limit to where a single strand of 28g kanthal won't tighten up. any ideas where to obtain replacement screws?
Be careful! Know your resistance and what can happen if you mess up! Steam-engine.org is a great Vape tool, but it's a suggestion only, you still need to put it on the ohm tester before the mech.
Amazon batteries are not to be trusted imo. Lots of cloned batteries or rewrapped batteries. Test it with a digital multimeter!
