New to mech mods!

So, my first post!
Just want start saying.. ECF is an awesome site!
I really want to go to the mech mods (18650 mods) but this is totaly new for me..
I want to be 100% safe, so should I go for Sony vtc4 or something in that area?
I am looking maby using something like 1.5 - 1.8 ohm atomizer (Not looking for cloud chaser or to be sub-oming)
I was wondering if you good people could help me?:

What are you vapin on?
● mods?
● Atomizer,Cartomizer? (On what ohm?)
● Battery? (Sony, Efest etc..)
● Best setup?

I have a large number of authentic mechanical mods. My favorite and the one that I'm vaping on right now (my daily carry) is a GP Paps LUX v3 in 18350 mode with a KFL at 1.3ohms. This is my favorite / best setup, but you and others most certainly have different sensibilities and opinions. Although I have used 1.5ohm cartomizer tanks on mechanical mods I now exclusively use RBAs (mostly KFLs although I do like dual coil 1.0ohm drippers too).

For my mechanical mods I only use AW IMR batteries (18350, 18490, 18650, and 14500). No battery or mechanical mod can offer you 100% safety. As long as you’re not trying to pull more amps than that which the battery is rated and there isn’t a design flaw in the mod, I think that safety is entirely in the hands of the user. Knowledge is power and I think that one needs to read posts and watch videos about battery safety and building coils before jumping in.

A mech mod is really meant to be used sub-ohm. The reason for this is that an unregulated mod has no way of increasing battery voltage. You have to create the power with the increased current as result of dropping resistance. So with a 1.8 ohm coil build, you will only be able to get less than 10 watts and even this will start dropping lower and lower as you drain the battery.

● I have many great mech mods, but I am currently vaping my oros clone. I had my cartel clone with me at work today.
● The oros has a dark horse on it at .21 ohm. The cartel is a tri-coil stillare v3 build at .15
● mostly authentic vtc5. occasionally, I will use samsung 25R, but not with builds below .2
● IMO, best setup is with an RDA, built using 24g kanthal or 24g nichrome.

I'm sorry Dave, but I respectfully disagree with this statement. Mechanical mods were built and sold and purchased before the sub-ohm craze.

Honestly, I thinks it's too much for me. I'm used to a Silo with 1.6 BVC at 9 watts. Even at 6mg nicotine this Atlantis/Vanilla setup seems like fuel injection. Works great but wow, I can't chain vape it.

In my limited mech mod experience what I learned early is I prefer recessed buttons. I found the button to be the most important factor for me. Some outy buttons (for lack of a better term) work well but most I've tried make setting the mech down precarious. They're like a pogo stick. Obviously, for ease of use, outy buttons win most of the time. I'd give some thought to your habits and narrow the field starting at the button type.

Pretty much any battery will work. At 1.5 ohm, you are only pulling, at best, 2.8 amps.

I'll never forget rocking the prodigy and icon (old ones) with my LR and SR 510's.

Im vaping a kayfun with a 1.2 ohm coil on a 4nine right now. And next to me is a nemesis with copper contacts set up on a .23 ohm coil on a dripper. IM ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Seriously, even if I couldnt rebuild mechs will always have a special spot in my heart. Form factor, ruggedness, just plain sexy.

Also.. op.. dont just put any old battery in a mech. You can get away with it on that resistance but you may as well do yourself a favor and buy some decent sony vct4's or comparable batteries. They arent that expensive and they will last you a long time. There really isn't a reason to use crap batteries anymore, no matter what your ohms are.
