I purchased my first rda about a week ago, an IGO w4 for use on new SVD...
I've been making micro coils for Kanger EVODs for a couple months using 30g Kanthal with terrific results using cotton wicks.

The issue I'm having is pretty weak vapor production using the w4 both with single and dual coil. (Single coil at around 1.9 ohms and the dual coil at 1.3 ohms), cotton wicking.
I've experimented with air hole placement relative to the coils, etc.
I'm definitely not trying to cloud chase, but the flavor seems muted compared to the EVOD flavors.
Honestly I was expecting more flavor, not less from the RDA.

I typically vape the EVODs at 7.5 to 9 watts. I've tried everything from 6 to 10 watts on the IGO.

Any suggestions?
Different wicks? Too much air flow?
Thanks

Lower resistance will give you the power you need.

A 1.3 Ohm dual-coil at 10W = 3.61V feeding two coils. Not enough heat for a dual. That build on a mech would have most RDA users going to a fresh battery.

A 1.6 Ohm single coil should be the sweet spot for an SVD. That will get you the most play from that 7-15W range.

Also, IMHO, you NEED an unregulated mod to get the most from RDAs long-term.

An RDA is such a fine mix of so many things: heat/airflow/wick volume/juice PG/VG ratio. Too much or too little of any one component can cause trouble, or less-than-expected results.

Use as little cotton wicking as possible. That's something I learned early-on. If you drip, you drip at-home, and don't need a huge juice reserve sapping heat and airflow through the deck.

The possibilities and variables are endless.

Start with a 1.6 Ohm Single-Coil @ 7W, moving up to 15W. That puts you right around 3.3-4.9V range which should accomplish what you seek. Dual-Coil builds, or more, should only be on an unregulated mod, at less than 1 Ohm for max potential, imho.

If a simple single coil bores you, try a "Diamond Coil". It is some of the best flavor I've had, and awesome vapor too. There are build demos on YouTube aplenty. You will definitely need 28ga to put it around 1.6 Ohms, however.

*and check out the IGO-W3......adjustable airflow!
