I use a fluke lead to wrap micros with. 30gauge with 9wraps on it gives me 3ohms (1.5ohm dual). That's with a fluke 99b +lead, seems just a tad thicker than my other leads. I wrap it tight and compress it as much as I can as I wrap. I've been getting consistent dual coils that way.

Just went to vapors tool box, says you need a wire 4-3/16" long for the coil to get 3ohms with 30gauge..so regardless of what you wrap with, shoot for that length or a little more for your target range.

Edit-download vapors tool box. I don't ever use it, unless I'm helping friends and fwiends.

Honestly, you're going to need about 15 or 16 wraps of the 30 gauge @ 1/16" ID for dual micro coils to get to 1.5+ ohms. So, something like 7 or 8 wraps for 1/8" ID normal coils. Don't even try it with the 27 gauge, the coils will be massive. I recommend 32 gauge or maybe even 34 gauge for a 2 ohm dual coil.

At any rate, cut a long piece of wire and just start wrapping and metering and wrapping and metering one coil until you get where you need to be. Just hold the leads on the legs right near the coil and you should get a pretty accurate estimate of what it will be once its mounted.
