Im new to RDAs, and I am doing very well I must say. I was wondering if anyone uses calculator apps to help them build specific coils?
I attempted to but the calculator suggested I wrap my 2 inch coil over 6000 times to achieve 0.3 ohm. So I don't use the calculator. I would like to know how to use them though.

Here's my setup.
I have 28 awg and 24 awg Kanthal A1 I believe. It's the most popular I believe.
I find the 24 works better. But was entering the 28 in the calculator.

I use a kuro koiler-25 on the 1 setting for tight coils.

Japanese organic cotton.

Itaste mvp 3.0 pro box mod.

Exthermal RDA from innokin tech.

So far I get good results wrapping around 6 times with the 24awg wire.

I cut a piece of cotton about the same diameter as the coil and twist it, then pull through the coil, and tuck the ends under the coil.

I have been doing dual coils. My mods reads it as 0.25 ohm.

So does anyone else think the calculator apps are more trouble than they are worth?

If anyone dies use them and likes them, please tell me what values you input for coil diameter and such. There are a few values I don't know how to measure.

I primarily use the calculators to determine the inside diameter of the coil so it allows me ease of placing the wick within the coil.
I can tailor the heat of the vape with the predicted ohms output. The calculator also tells me the number of coils I need for the build. With what wire gages I have, I can select which gage wires I want to use,in order to establish my known sweet spot.
To say it another way.
Given:
Wire ga. --For me, 28 gage.-----For you, 24 gage
Ohm desired.--For me, base on the most flavor.--For you, single coil? = 0.25 ohm
Watts desired--For me, base on the most flavor. For you, higher the watts more clouds up to burning juice=bad taste.
Here you start low wattage and work up till you find your sweet spot.
To Find/Solve:
No. of coils
Coil inside diameter.
Approx. start cut length of wire.

Any further questions, just hit "like" lower right hand corner of post and will check back and answer if need be.

Wow not sure what you put into the calculator to get that kind of a result. Your Kuro Koiler-25 makes 2.5mm coils.. You should be using the #2 hole for that gauge of wire.
Go here Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators and put in the gauge of wire (24 or 28 your choice), the resistance you want to hit (0.3 ohms), and the diameter of the coil (2.5mm). I usually just leave the leg length at the default of 5mm, and still hit my target.

Like they said above Id recommend dual coils, because a single coil of 24 gauge at 2.5mm is like 3 or 4 wraps and thats not a whole lot of surface area to be vaping on.

I tried stream engine and vapors tool box.
I just tried steam engine again. I input the 24awg and desired 0.3ohm. It said to wrap 11 times.

What data do I need to input aside from the obvious awg and ohm?
