hi all ,
soon i will start my adventure to transfer from analog to e-cig.
although I'm convinced going from newport 100's to e-cig will be tough.
i have ordered a vamo v5 and protank 2 i suspect i will try other combos as i get used to vaping.
other than the battery, charger and liquid that is all i need to get started right?

also i am getting ready to order some of the nuport from nhaler as the general opinion seems to be that its the closest to the real thing might pick up some of the 555 menthol as well.
but one question on the nuport and 555 menthol should i get the 24mg seeing as what i usually smoke is considered a "high" strength cig?

also i know very little about the batteries i was considering the tangsfire 18650 3600mah 3.7 protected li-ion from amazon 4pcs for $19.99 any opinions on these batteries?

the charger is a nitecore seems to be highly regarded .

any help or tips and suggestions would be great.[h=1][/h]

strength of a cig isnt the same as strength of eliquid. most say to start at 16-18mg nic. 24 is very harsh if your not use to it. also make sure you have extra juice and batteries. nothing worst then dying for nic and your only battery is charging, or waiting on a juice shipment with no juice in your stockpile.

as far as juice tasting like a actual cig, in my 3 years i have yet to find that. main reason why is a lot of the flavor you get when smoking is coming from the burning of the paper, leaves and other chemicals.

in terms of batteries you want to stay with the more popular brands, sony us18650vtc3 or 4, panasonic cgr18650ch, aw imr 18650, and efest imr 18650's. Bad batteries are a no no and can cause some serious issues down the road. when pushed past their limits, they can vent(self destruct) and that can happen while being used or on the charger. also never charge when you cant watch them being charged.

lastly always drink plenty of water, vaping will dehydrate you. plus it will help push out all the toxins from smoking as well.

Newports, haven''t had one of them in 30 yearss. You can kick it just the same. I went vaping smack at high NOON... was smoking all day and here the mail run bring what eveer it was I needed to start. I don't look back, never to smoke again. The spouse stilll smoke, I fear seeing her quit, just weird, I have a notion that many women when stop smokin end up with lung cancer. (told ya, weird notion)
She smokes, I buy them for her, I don't even consider smoking, a unpleasent ideal.
GL and vape free!

Everything you have listed there seems perfectly fine to start you off but the batteries, the Vamo is a regulated mod and therefore provides the "protection". Using protected cells is not advised as it will likely interfere with the Vamos built in regulation, also such a high Ah rating indicated they are likely generic Li-Ion cobalt cells which are not ideal for ecigs due to their high internal resistance meaning under heavy load the voltage will do a nose dive and give you really poor performance. Consider getting some IMR or Efest cells instead, they will give you much better performance overall.

thanks for the info i thought the 24mg would be a good choice for me as i tend to chainsmoke.
as for the juice tasting like actual cig i have no delusions on that i just wanted something that is close to what i like. i plan to try tons of different juices in the future but for now that transfer needs to happen first.
also thanks for the info on batteries

Wingsfan0310 and dice57 thanks for the heads up so i should go with the Panasonic NCR18650B 3.6 Volt 18650 Battery 3400 mAh or something like that instead ?

RTD . is a trusted site for batteries and chargers. I have the Xtap VP1 and it is excellent.

Far as nic mg levels go, 24 is probably a good place to start, but may want to get some 18 mg in case 24 is to strong. And as your atomizer gear improves, so does the nic delivery improve. I used to vape 24 mg nic, but once I went rebuildable I had to drop my nic level. I am now vaping 12 mg nic, not because I am trying to cut down, but because my builds, gear and watts vaped at are so good that I was getting way to much nicotine at 24 and 18 mg. I smoked for 27 years using camel filters, and I get just as much nic at 12 mg that a camel would give me, perhaps a bit more.

Good luck, welcome to the forum, and make sure of your purchases before buying something that won't do the job. Lots of info to be found in these pages, do yourself a favor and learn what others have discovered.

I was a PAD smoker for almost 40 years, and I started on convenience store throwaways at 18MG. From the first puff of the cigalike I was hooked and have never felt the need to go back to stinkies :) I think some of it will depend on you, but for many of us the first cigalike was all it took. I do think it's better to have to high a nic concentration than too small to start. After a few days I did go down to 12 MGs, but I was a Malborough Ultra Lite smoker.

Just to chime in with my two cents.

Many are able to just switch cold turkey and just vape. Others can't do it. I'm vaping and smoking still. However my smoking is continually decreasing as my vaping is increasing. So if you aren't able to just switch. That's ok. Don't give up just migrate over some time. And don't put a limit on yourself. As I say I'm not quitting smoking it's quitting me. As there are lots of chemicals not just nicotine that you have become addicted to and it will take some time to adjust. Give it time to wean yourself and migrate.

/end rant/

dice57 will do that is excellent advice !
you know what as much research as i thought i had done it seems i missed the most important section. before reading that i thought i knew what was what and following that up revealed even more gems . i really don't know how i missed that but i also cant you enough for that link and to the others who also pointed out my poor battery choice . thank you all.

AmandaD & Requiem33 thanks for the encouragement . but you should know i am not going down this road without a plan and that is to slowly ween myself of tobacco by simply allowing my self my normal amount of cigs day one and slowly lowering my amount and replace with vaping untill i get to 0 tobacco. i do however think it will be hard but i can do this.
