Hello all, I have been silently scouring these forums doing some research to quit chewing tobacco. I recently was chewing a can of Copenhagen a day. Regardless I didn't want to get mouth cancer or all of the wonderful things chewing gives you so after seeing a Blu ecig commercial I decided to try it out. Normally I am one of those people who do a lot of research before buying and never make such a big mistake the first time around. Well it was pretty much DOA, then it burned every cartridge. After doing some research I learned how involved this hobby can be and being a huge techy I loved the possibilities of vaping and to supplement my nicotine cravings in a much healthier way. Anyways I found Create A Cig here in Austin, mind you I know there were better batteries and mods I could jump to for the money, but I wanted to start simple. I ended up starting with the simple eGo battery with a Vivi Nova kit and it was so much better than the Blu system as I expected. I have not chewed any tobacco since my purchase and the money saved already payed for my hardware (1-2 cans a day realistically at $5 a can it adds up fast). My next endeavor is dripping, again I know there are better systems for the money but I just like to learn as I do instead of jumping to the most complicated thing possible. I went with a eGo twist battery, Cisco 306 1.5ohm with a XL V2 tip and drip shield from Avid Vaper (the Cisco deal 2 atomizers and tip for $20). I am going to experiment with this for home use and have my standard for out of the house use. I feel good about the purchases and gained my confidence from this forum.

As for future purchases, I plan on going with something like a Vamo or straight to a Silver Bullet. The Reo Grande is in the back of my mind as well as the ProVari with a ProTank but just don't feel like it is time to get into that just yet. After I really get used to dripping what would you guys suggest? Is there really one winner hands down or will it come down to personal preference? I am the type of person who will want to learn everything possible about a new hobby and I really want to get a RSST and make my own coils, and to try ceramic wicks. But I like to do things one thing at a time (I am an experienced electronic user as I deal with electronics for a living). Other than that I am excited to be part of such a great community and look forward to some great vapor :2cool:.

Thanks everyone :). Yes I know a weird convert but couldn't find any electronic dip ha. Mostly chose it because of the nicotine and secondly because of the flavors. Now I fear for my wallet because of all hardware I want and now looking into DIY liquid... I'll probably spend a lot on flavoring. I think I am going to get the Vamo soon as it looked like a next logical step that or the Silver Bullet.

Welcome and I've heard of a few people using vaping to replace dipping. IMO I think it's great, dipping is gross, and so is smoking. I have 2 silver bullets and had a vamo but sold it. If that helps ya :) As far as dripping and rebuildables I'd reccomend the octopus RDA. Great little dripper for the price and easy to set up for a begginer. Octopus RDA - YouTube

Welcome on board. If you prefer going to B&Ms, I'd like to point out the other local options you have available for exploration. Besides create-a-cig, you also have:

All About Vapor in Round Rock.
General hardware and juice

Liquid Express in Round Rock.
Higher end stuff. You can check out the Provaris here, plus they have the Protanks

Ion Vapor in Austin, close to Cedar Park
Small juice selection, but has basic hardware along with rebuildable supplies like wick, mesh, wire etc. They also have Aga-T2s and Aga-S RBA's.

Peace Pipe Vapor Store in Georgetown
Very similar to Create-a-Cig

There is also a store in San Marcos, but I haven't tried it out.

Again, welcome and good luck reaching your goals. I've heard of a couple of other people who have quit dipping/chewing by switching to vaping, so it's definitely an option.

Awesome thank you so much for the info and suggestions. I never realized how many local places are around here. Granted CreateACig was great to me and friendly after searching around here and will be moving on to better stores. Definitely going to have to check out Ion Vapor to see this ProVari :). I honestly never liked to dip and only used wintergreen as it was the only bareable flavor but man the nicotine was great and a stress reliever. Helped me get off prescribed medications such as Xanax and klonopin for anxiety. I've been dipping for 2 years and after 2 weeks I rarely get the urge to dip which surprised me a lot. I do vape a lot though haha but I can't lie I just like the flavor.

Thank you :). I look forward to everything and to be helpful when I learn all I can! My real big question now is I am going to want some advanced mod and I absolutely want to use a RBA like the rsst. I am saving up he cash for a mod but I wonder which will suit my needs. When I read about the ProVari I heard amazing things but some suggested it wasn't the greatest to use with RBAs. Is there a mod that really works well with RBAs hands down? I've looked at the provari, silver bullet, omega, Reo, zmax, and vamo. Right now I'm waiting on my joye ego twist to play around with dripping. My ultimate goal is to have a mod for tank smoking and a mod for a true RBA to build my own coils. As always all suggestions greatly appreciated. But this isn't an urgency as I will be using my egos for a few months.

The octopus dripper is great but I like these a little better. Good inexpensive intro or try an IGO-L. They also have a slightly different style in colors. Good luck! Sounds like you've made a good start.

Check VaporJoes for the scoop on sales everywhere.

Awesome thank you! Bookmarked that. Heck I think I might try that first, can't beat it $9.99 works for me especially when I would be learning. You are really tempting me to to just go ahead and get a Vamo and that rebuildable right now. I am hoping these Cisco 306 @ 1.5ohm will be as good as I hear. Will definitely check out and probably try the Octopus dripper. I am the type of person that will try everything, I mean they are all relatively inexpensive :p.
