Hello all! New to the forums and to ecigs in general. I started the whole ecig gig with Blu ecigs, but reverted back to analogs because the Blus dont last. I prefer vaping to cigarettes already (taste-wise), so I decided to aim for a serious device..

Did some research and hopefully ill be happy with my choices:

Innokin MVP 2 brushed black (w/ iclear 30 clearomizer included)
4 extra heads for iclear 30 (for until I learn to rebuild)
Kanger Protank 2 w/ 4 extra heads
Kanger airflow control valve
24mg eliquid 30ml (1)
18mg eliquid 30ml (1)
12mg eliquid 30ml (1)

I plan to use 24mg eliquid in the iclear 30 (for staving off the analogs) and 18mg in the Protank (for chain vaping), and adjust as necessary by mixing. I also figure it will be good to compare a top coil vs bottom coil setup. Does this sound good or should I consider something else? The only thing that sucks about all this is the 5-7 days im going to have to wait for it all to arrive :(

Gonna have to order a bunch of liquids online or maybe hit up a head shop in town to try some different flavors. Im not too picky with cigarettes so it shouldnt be too hard to find flavors I like.

Anyways, looking forward to being around. Any comments/suggestions welcome..

Hi and welcome. You have made a wonderful choice for your device! You will love your mvp2. Yes juices can get expensive that's why I make my own. It's pretty easy to do and their is a sub forum here about how to start if that's something you might consider in the future. My hubby and I figured it out one day and it costs us about 20 cents a bottle compared to the 6 to 12 dollars to buy the juice. It's a great savings. Well I just wanted to welcome you and assure you that you made a excellent choice in mods. I really love my mvp2. It's a great device with a excellent battery life.!

Hello From Baytown Texas, Good choice on the MVP, I personally really liked the Iclear 30's. I think theres a love-hate thing with them.
They have lasted and served me well, They do tend to really soak up some juice, I,m sure someone is rebuilding
them, But I found the Iclear coils not well suited for rebuilding. I now have quite a few Mini Pro Tanks & Pro Tank 2
and I have really found the groove for re wicking & coiling, These can be swapped in a jiffy, and really quite easy to rebuild.
Especially givin the poor quality control on the new replacement coils.
best of luck

Dave

The MVP in my opinion is the #1 and best beginning APV.
Rechargeable with micro usb. Since battery is built in no battery decisions. Battery lasts 2-3 Days.

Very important is that it has excellent circuitry and in the paramaters that it runs, it has a flat power signal and will rival the Provari in quality of Vape.

Bravo, this is a great first step.

MVP's are truly excellent, I would recommend grabbing a cheap Ego battery too though as even the MVP needs charging now and then and although it has pass through charging you don't want to suddenly run into a situation where you have nothing to vape with :) also for driving/walking etc. sometimes an Ego size battery weight/size is more convenient.

great move, I love the mvp2 with the protanks, I have been totally smoke free for over a year now. find a good juice you like and don't look back. there are so many juice vendors out there, some great, some good, and some horrible. some of my favorites are nicoticket, alian visions, velvet cloud, goodlife, goodejuice. just to name a few. try smaller bottles and find the ones you like the best. This is a very informed site with helpfull and friendy advice you came to right place. Welcome.:vapor:

Wow, active forum with lots of good info.. Didnt expect so many replies. Its great to hear that the MVP 2 was a good choice! I figure the tanks will take more trial and error. I know there are cartomizers, clearomizers, drip tips, etc and its pretty involved at first. Im reading as much as I can.

I have noticed since doing some research the iclears dont seem the easiest to rebuild, but the Protanks are very good in that regard. Since I like strong throat hits (at least for now), I think ill end up looking for a top coil rebuildable tank that is known to hit strong. Any suggestions? From what Ive seen I know this is all very subjective, but for know Im game to try anything. The Protank will be great for chain vaping I think, so Ill just need to find a rebuildable top coil strong hitter..

Based on recommendations here, I think ill look to get another battery unit (apv?) like another MVP 2 or one thats smaller as a backup. Thanks to the poster who pointed out the MVP2s modulation characteristics- Ill keep that in mind when looking for a backup unit. Im an electrician by trade so I look forward to modifications :D

Also, if you happen to know of eliquids with a strong throat hit, Im all ears. It doesnt have to be tobacco flavored (though it can be); Im open to try anything (except cinnamon types). I took a chance buying 30ml of a liquid Ive never tried. That said, im not picky with cigs and I wanted to make sure I had enough liquid around to prevent me from picking up the analogs. Thanks for all the replies. Ill update here when I get my stuff in the mail.

MVP2 is a great choice. I have a vv3, its little brother, and love it. Tastes almost as good as my Provari, just not quite as crisp on the startup. And the vv3 is what I'd recommend for a backup, all the way. It's really a nice little device and very pocket friendly.

And I use Protanks with an airflow base and one Aerotank. I like being able to rebuild my own coils and they just work. I have a Kayfun clone, but it's just not my style. I like the fast hit of the smaller coils. Not that I regret getting the KFL+, but it's not my daily driver.

For me, the juice I vape to get serious throat hit is Fire and Ice, but since you say you don't want cinnamon. (Not that the cinnamon really shows other than to make the menthol really pop.) Hmmm, might want to try clove? I have a Djarum Black clone from Aroma in one of my tanks at all time for when my allergies decide to make a run for it. That hits hard enough to scratch that itch before it gets carried away. Never have found a tobacco I like in a tank. Only way I like them is on a dripper, I think because otherwise they just taste like licking an ashtray, at least to me.

Research well done!

I'll 2nd the endorsement for the iTaste vv 3.0. I finally settled on 101vape.com ($26) for mine. They make a great matched pair for the long battery life of the MVP, and the slim & trim form factor of the vv3.

I have the iClear 30 that came with my MVP also, but have never used it. Really dunno why, but there it sits, along with a couple of packages of coils from Fasttech.

My go-to for tanks are primarily Kanger products (PT 2 mini, newly purchased Aero, and a MT3s). Good performance out of the PT2 & Aero, and MT3s is more finicky for gurgling and stuff.

You can get pre-made coils and coil-wicks from Fasttech for about 4-5¢ a piece. That's the reason I've stayed with the Kangers. Just looking for other tank options that offer as easy to rebuild heads.

Flavors!

I really believe, and the data has been accumulating, that flavor is a critical-success factor in trying to quit, and staying smoke-free!

Multiple times every single day, I pause after taking a hit and think, OMG, does that taste good!

Tobacco flavors - most new-comers automatically tend to want the flavor to mimic the cigarette experience (along with the physical aspects of throat-hit and 'cloud').

Keep an open mind to trying out non-tobacco flavors, and head over to a shop that offers a sampler bar.

It was 2+ months before I did, and finally discovered a whole new universe of joy & wonder for my tastebuds!!

Couple of recommends from my experiences:
  • Mt. Baker Vapor - drawn to them by price and reputation. Stayed for the product, price, customer service.
    • Can always find 10% discount codes somewhere - try vaporfrombaker
    • Free 15ml sample with order > $15. You can request a specific flavor, nicotine content & pg/vg ratio in the order comments section
    • Custom blend! They offer an option where you can do your own mad-scientist experiments. Up to 5 flavors & ratios, along with nic content & pg/vg to taste
  • Killer-juice.com - ran across them in the Deal & Steals thread for a great 99¢ sale. Came for the price, stayed for the product, prices, shipping & as a bonus, they're in Michigan :thumb:
    • Keep an eye on their site for what appears to be a weekly 99¢ sale event.
    • You can specify the pg-vp ratio in the order comments section. I didn't know this for my 1st two orders, but as a result, I find I actually do like a 50/50 mix (think Green Eggs & Ham )

And one last thought on taste: don't be surprised if you find that as your tastebuds heal, your preferences will change!

Last week, I ran across some of my #1 most favorite flavor from when I first started (Tennessee Cured from Johnson Creek). Oh my YUCK!
Nothing against the product, it was all about the tobacco flavor, that apparently my palate no longer has any interest in.

Best of luck in the exciting new chapter in your life!

I have mostly mechs and a DNA 30 box mod, but when I want to go back to my roots to something hassle free I pick up my MVP2 with a kanger tank or even a Aspire Nautilus, perfect for on the go and not having to switch out batteries every couple of hours is great!! Good luck, and welcome to the Vaping community!

If you stock up on Protanks also note that all the 3's and the Aerotank are dual coil and a little bit trickier to rebuild so you may want to get some Protank 2's until you master it but most new tanks tend to be bottom dual coil nowadays and they do give a nicer vape, also protank mini's are useful to have for out and about and they share the same coils as their bigger brothers.

Well the Pass through feature on the MVP just saved my Derriere .

I left my REO Grande at home today and had to use the backup at the office. A MVP a Cheapo cartridge and some High nic juice

It's been so long since I've used my MVP that it was Deadsville. I hooked it to a long Micro USB Cable from my Powered USB Hub and immediately I was off and vaping on it as a pass through.

Saved me a trip home and a Nic Fit.

Got everything in the mail today, and im impressed. 18mg provides more than enough throat hit and nicotine for me. I have a 24mg bottle, so ill prolly mix it with some 12 that I also got to bring the dose down.

Ive tried both the iclear 30 and protank 2 w/ adjustable airflow base, and I like them both. I prefer the protank 2 as I prefer a more airy draw. I honestly cant tell much of a temp difference, but I have some messing around to do. I used the whole "2 volts up from the ohm rating of the coil" to set a preliminary and while the hit/vapor seems fine to me, ill do some more experimenting up and down to find the sweet spot.

The only disappointment is that I dont really care for either of the eliquids I purchased (in terms of flavor). Not horrible, but not really "good" either. I got a popular tobacco flavor because I figured I couldnt possibly hate it (which I dont), but I really want to try the fruit/candy/sweet and rich/nutty flavors. Ive never really enjoyed the flavor of cigarettes either, so this is not a surprise. Thanks for all the advice- ill take it all on board :)

Alright, this will be my last post on this thread :) Today I went to a local vape shop to see if I could find a flavor I at least liked (as opposed to only tolerating). I needed one that was pre-steeped since I really didnt want to keep using the stuff I already had.

Eventually tried Suicide Bunny Sucker Punch and liked it a lot. The vaping devices they had to test with werent very good, but I could tell I liked the flavor. I picked up a 30ml bottle 18mg and hurried home :D

The mvp2/protank2/airbase with this eliquid is great. I already like it more than cigs, and I have no doubt I can quit using this setup. I will be getting Dutch Apple Pie as suggested above and some fruity flavors I think id like, but at least I have a liquid I like.

Anyone new looking for an apv cannot go wrong with the Innokin MVP 2 and the protank 2 with airbase. Thanks guys!
