This is exactly what I did with my MVP. I had the very same problem and it was the pin in the center. I bought a dental kit from the grocery store and used the tools to gently pill up the center pin and it instantly started working!!
I have heard that this is a usual problem for the itaste MVP.

I agree. When I inquired about my problem here on ECF, there were several people who had issues with their MVP's too. My guess is the pin is either set too short at the factory, or it is "loose" or "floating" pin that is easily moved by the connector of certain juicedevices.
I can't believe I didn't find that in all the research I did before I bought it. I thought I was buying the perfect mod, that might have been a deal breaker...

It doesn't seem to be a problem that every single person has. Mine is fine with any cartomizer. It could be off just a hair. As someone mentioned, you could try to file it down a bit and see if that helps.
I have had this issue with other batteries in the past.
Could be overtightening. I had this happen to my SVD. it would work if it was partly screwed in. The o-ring messes up. You can buy grommets online 510 Threaded Connector Insulators - Avid Vaper it was a ..... to install, not hard just took some time. It works tho.
