Hi every one! So I've been lurking around the forum for a couple months now. I started an acct not too long ago but have been putting off that dreaded first post. However I'm now a full on vaper and looking for some I depth knowledge of some of the more advanced pv's and accessories I'm going to start posting so I can ask questions to get advice, as well as share my experiences with others.

So lets start with a little about me. My real names Eric but I go by the name "icy*" online. Most of my time I'm on a site called reef central under the name icycoral. It's a site for reef aquarium keepers, I'm vp of my local reef club. I live in north eastern CT, I'm in my early 30's and work as a electromech tech and do carpentry on the side (even though when I left my last large construction job I swore I'd never swing a hammer again). I smoked from the age of 13 and was up to almost two packs a day before I put them down (god willing for the last time) in early April 2013. I've quit smoking a few times here and there over the years, the longest duration was about two years. Around the end of this past march I was ready to quit again. I was cutting down on the smoking and going crazy, not to mention taking everyone I knew and interacted with right along with me. A friend told me about the blu ecigs working for someone so I decided to give them a try. They really weren't cutting it for me, I was still smoking about half a pack a day along with chain vaping the blu's. something told me to google e cigs to see if there was something better out there. I am sooo glad I did. I very quickly found this forum as well as few online shops that had all sorts of cool looking vaping supplies. While I was waiting for my first online order to come in I was going nutz, a search on my iPhone found a vape shop about a hour away from me in RI so I was on my way there as I was desperate to quit smoking and going through heavy withdraws. I picked up a vamo and a tank as well as some e juice. I smoked one analog that day and one more the next, those were my last two real cigs since I started vaping. I very quickly got my gf interested in vaping. After a week or so she put down the analogs too. We both really enjoy vaping and don't miss the analogs one bit. I def like the technical side of it more then her. With a background in industrial electronics I find winding coils and assembling atomizers pretty amusing.

So the first e cig I tried was the blu e cig with the "tobacco" flavor, I believe the juice inside is Johnson's creek. I really liked the flavor of that stuff and would love to know what if the sell it on their site. They have a couple tobacco flavors up on there not sure which is the one in the blu e cigs. I tried emailing them but didn't get a response.

The second e liquid I tried was something I picked up on my first trip to my somewhat local vape shop, it was dekang chocolate 18mg. Omg that stuff was funky but it was enough to keep me off the analogs, that's all I cared about then.

Now I'm kind of a juice snob I think. I love rawr vapors juice as well as aroma juice and a couple from backwoods brews( I'm vaping malty toffee right now :vapor:)

I'm not really a big fan of the tobacco flavors so far aside from the blu e-cig flavor. For tobaccos I've tried

Casa Blanca (back woods brew) not sure how to describe this stuff kinda reminds me of old mans cologne snake wood and cedar come to mind
5*5 (dekang) kinda like a camel but not my thing
Ry4 (aroma juice) not too bad but tasted nutty and I'm allergic to nuts so kinda turned me off

While I don't care for tobaccos the dark honey tobacco with wta by aromajuice is awesome stuff. I think it tastes more like a burning honey graham cracker than tobacco.

I do like the fruit blends and coffe flavors for the most part though esp pineapple. I'm a big fan of Adams accident and truth serum by roar vapor, along with raging Bit** I really the malty and malty toffe by bwb, it seems to be a simple mild flavor in respect to the roar juices but still something I enjoy.

In my short time vaping I've got a small collection of "equipment going so far I've tried

The blu e-cigs
Ego batts 35o mah, 900mah twist and reg
Vamo v2 (luv this vv/vw and the price is awesome even from a retail shop)
Sigelei #13a telescopic mechanical mod (loved it until the switch became insulated and it stopped firing)

For atomizers and accessories I've tried

-Cartomizers with and without tanks (seem to be good for juice that burns easily)
Really like the Artemis tube and locking dct's

-Bottom coil clearos
Vape only bcc and mini bcc the mini bcc has a fairly nice warm vape

-Vivi nova tank (didnt really seem to wick fast enough for me)

-Iclear 30 tank (love these things I now have 5 from discount vapors)

For rba's I've tried

-Aga-t+ (not bad but not my fav maybe I should put better juice in it and try it, always used my cheapo juice that I didn't like to try out new coils on it)

-Cobra clone (had it set up perfect once. It was working great on my second rolled ss wick and coil, I decided to futz with it on the next tank and it has never been the same :(

-Igo-l (love this thing w low ohm coils, 3-5 2mm wicks and 28ga kanthal hits like a kangaroo kicking)

-Phoenix big bully gotvapes not bad but won't thread onto my mechanical so no low ohm coils as I have to use it in the vamo :(

-Oddity from discount vapors
I have a love hate relationship with this device. I love the vapor and flavor it produces but the quality of it sux. The threads are crummy on it, both the threading inside it and the 510 threads on the bottom. The inside threads are hard to line up without cross threading. I haven't stripped them out but I cross thread them almost every time I put it together. After the first tank or two along with imeo's vids of the ody I figured out the learning curve and had it hitting like a steam engine. I can now fill it to the brim without it flooding or just poring out all the juice. It did mess up the threads on my vamo however, it won't thread onto the vamo any more but was working well on the sigelei until the switch on that mod fowled up. The vamo still works fine with other devices. I know have a terminator on its way to me, if I could get my paws on one I would order a ithaka bit the availability of them seems to be a scam. The price doesn't bother me much as I am willing to pay it now that I know how awesome they work.

I am now in the market for a new mechanical mod. For myself and a vv for my gf. For her I am considering a provari in pink. I am a little reluctant about the provari. The whole one button thing has me nervous about getting her one. If she doesn't like it then I'm stuck using a pink provari lol. For a mechanical mod I had a bottom side button until the issue with the switch getting screwy. I don't mind the side button I'm not sure I'm going to like a bottom button. I'm currently looking at a roller :toast: for home or the camp fire and possibly a sigelei #20 or smoktec natural to beat up on, you know like dripping and driving :danger::vapor:8-o or at the pub :toast:

If anyone has any suggestions for a pink or purple vv for my sweetie or a decent mech for me please let me know and where to find them.

Thanks in advance ;)

Well I have several mods myself and my hubby has his fair share but we both go back to..
Me- my Provari
Him - silver Bullet & Reo

My Provari is Silver, they didn't come in colors 2 years ago and it works just as well today as day one. I had to send it in one time as it had the bubble window and I dropped it one to many times. They replaced it with the new window and I have not had a single problem.

If you buy the Purple Provari and it doesn't work out, let me know, I am dying to get one.
I am sure she will love it though.

Hey thank you for the advice. Does using the single button to change menu functions and stuff become bothersome? My worry is she will think its a pita. Most of the reviews I've read mention it becomes second nature after a while.

Btw, I am wanting to turn this into a saltwater tank, any advice?

Most def! Take out the gravel, add 3 inches of reef sand ( not crushed coral but not the sugar fine sand either just coarse reef sand) buy dry reef rock, bring the salinity up to sea water, get rid of any hang on back filter and get a power head for water movement. A clean up crew (crabs and snails) along with bacteria will do most of your tank maintance for you if you set things up proper and don't over feed. If you want to grow coral it's not that tough, just need a good light and keep the water clean. Imho salt water tanks are much easier to maintain then fresh water, although a bit more knowledge is needed. With my fresh water tanks I was always vacuuming the gravel, with my saltwater tank it's pretty much a small water change every now and then. I do test my water often and make adjustment to the water because if the water conditions are right the tank for the most part takes care of itself now. I feed every other day and swap out about 5% of the water every month. The equipment is def more expensive. But you can find a lot of quality used equipment in the classies on my other forums Reefcentral.com and reef2reef.com as well as a vast wealth of knowledge and helpful experienced reefers and saltwater aquarium keepers.

I'll post a couple pics of my aquariums tomorrow when the lights are on. my lights are on timers to mimic the natural sunrise and sunset for coral growth :)
