Hey everyone, FrostyBlocker here! Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been lurking around, reading, learning, posting(now that I can), and trying to figure things out on my own -all at the same time. Lots of good reads and helpful hints available here. Looking at upgrading to something more than my eGo styles with a 3 dollar clearomizer. My thoughts are to get the iStick 50w with a tank. Is that a good set-up? I dunno. I haven't quite gotten much reply in my questions about tanks post so I'll toss it in here also- with say...a subtank- do i HAVE to run it subohm or can I use coils above 1 ohm on the RBA head?
I'm always open to suggestions, they're greatly appreciated. Happy to be part of the vaping community and not on those icky sticks.

Hi Frosty, I have the 10's 20's 30's and (50's on they're way).

I like the iSticks, I think many here do too.

Combine the 50w with a good tank and you should be good to go.

You can use coils above 1 ohm in the subtank.

The iStick 50watt will fire a coil from 0.2 ohm to 5.0 ohm. You don't have to build a sub-ohm coil on the Subtank rebuildable base.

As the comments above, you certainly can run above 1 ohm with a subtank. In fact, I'd advise you to do so at least for awhile. The coils you've been running so far are probably in the upper 1 ohm range, 1.6, 1.8, even 2+ ohms. If you jump right to a 0.5 you may choke yourself out! I'd advise you to start at 1.1-1.2 or so then in time drop it to 0.6-0.8 or so and then if you want to go for it drop it on down to 0.2-0.3 or what ever your mod will fire. You'll find a marked increase in both heat and vapor volume with each of those steps so I think an incremental approach might be a good idea. Good luck!

I like the 1.2 1.6 ohm coils better, seems to get better flavor...I'm not into clouds, but the subtanks certainly produce them.

Very workable. The 50 watt will give a lot of capabilities. On a side note, I would get a spare while the iStick is charging. And, in case you leave it setting on top of the car as you leave for work.

Welcome to ECF. I just got my Istick 50w today and must say it is pretty awesome. I use the Subtank Mini on it with the .5 coils and it throws out the clouds and flavor like a beast at about 20-25w. Your gonna like it.

Thanks for posting this. I needed a good simple guide for coils. I've made a single coil for a dripper by following a guy on youtube but want to get into the rba on the subtank mini.

I'm new also but I've been vaping for a few months and I have learned A LOT from this forum. I recently kicked the analogs and Monday will make it two weeks. I was finally able to quit because I upgraded to an IPV Mini and Subtank mini. I was using RDAs since I started but it was too annoying to keep dripping on the IPV. I was considering an istick 50 as a back up but what kind of battery is in there? I wouldn't feel comfortable if it was a LiPo no matter how good the circuitry unless if there's something I'm missing... I miss the freedom of dripping while at home but every time I put the top cap on my Stillare v2 after juicing up, the resistance jumps up on the IPV which causes the volts to jump which causes nastiness! Anyone had problems like this with the istick 50? Thanks!

Love my Subtank mini. Definitely the way to go with the Subtank series. It has better airflow than the standard Subtank and you don't have to change out the top cap to change from standard coil to RBA mode. It comes with a .5 ohm coil pre-mounted on the RBA but it has another one in the package that comes with the tank. I've been told it is a 1.2 ohm coil but I plan to keep the .5 in there until it burns out - it has been 3 weeks so far and all I've done is re-wick it when necessary. The nice thing is you don't have to empty the tank to re-wick it.

As far as the iStick 50, got mine two days ago so I haven't even gone through a single charge cycle yet. But I've only seen resistance jumping around when something is going on with the bottom of my RBA unit. If you're getting that, you probably have something loose on your Stillare (wire or pin). Last time, the 510 pin connector on the bottom of my RBA unit was loose. Tightening it up resolved the problem.
