I was a 3 pack a day smoker until about a month ago, when I bought an eGo. Since I was a heavy smoker, I got the ego 1000 mah batteries - only a few bucks more, well worth it.

When I first started, a number of posts here told me that it wasn't necessary to try and stop cigs all at once. They suggested I vape when I wanted to vape, smoke when I wanted to smoke, and that it would come around naturally. So I worked with that plan.

I didn't really expect this to work. I'd tried quitting before, and nothing else worked, so I thought this was just another attempt, and that it wouldn't last.

Overnight, starting the day after I bought it, my smoking dropped from 3 packs a day to between 1 and 1.5. I thought that was pretty good. And I kept just smoking when I wanted, vaping when I wanted.

After a couple of weeks on the eGo, I started noticing that often I would light a cig out of habit, without thinking about it. And pretty soon, I noticed that I'd light one out of habit and as soon as I took that first puff, I'd think "Dang it, I don't need a cig, I could have vaped".

So around 3 weeks on the eGo I started seriously limiting my cigs, and cut down to around 5-8 a day most days. (During that week, 12 was the highest, 3 was the lowest.) And that convinced me. I was smoking far, far less than I had in decades, and I wasn't getting serious cravings, I wasn't getting jittery or hard to get along with. It was bloody well working.

I didn't do as well this weekend. I got sick. I don't think it was related to the cigs or the vaping, but getting well is my priority, and I've been smoking a bit more, partly because if it's related to withdrawal, I'd rather get well first and figure out how to get around it later. And partly because I'm already sick, and I simply don't want to worry about the smokes and the vaporizer, so I'm letting myself smoke.

Honestly, I don't think it's related to smoking/quitting in any way, and I expect in a few days, I'll be feeling better and working my way off the cigs again.

I'm 100% convinced that I can quit the cigs by vaping. A month ago, I'd have sworn I could never quit, and now I'm convinced that I will.

And the forums here are a great resource. Not only are people very helpful when you have questions about a vaporizer or flavors they would suggest or whatever, they also make for a sort of built in "quit smoking" support group. And the vast majority smoked, then quit when they started using a vaporizer. That helps a lot.

For anyone keeping track, today my fever is pretty much gone, feeling much better. My right ear is very red and swollen - visibly. I think it probably got scratched or something and got an infection. Which , IMO, is very good news, because that means that my recent problems probably haven't been related in any way to vaping or smoking or withdrawal.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I smoked for about 45 years and only quit once for 10 days (using chewing tobacco). I smoke 2 analogs last February when I was stuck away from home and ran out of juice. Other than that it's been really easy for me. Keep trying and eventually you'll just stop smoking with out really trying. It's just a matter of finding the right combination of juices and hardware that fit your needs and this is the place to find that out.
Take care
Richard
