I'm Mriana, from Springfield MO. I had a few frustrations before I got to try and e-cig. First I got a disposable from E-puffer (online), which didn't work. They promised me a replacement on them and I never received it. Smoking everywhere (online), after spending $55, sent me on with a faulty atomizer. So I waited for a new one, then finally called them to ask them where it is about month later. Finally, I got it today. While it is similar to smoking, I have two complaints- it's heavier than a real cig and it seems I have to draw harder on it to get anything out of it. It is fully charged and with a fresh cartilage. 3. complaints actually- the flavour isn't as strong as I would like- in other words mint/menthol isn't that strong. I like my menthol strong, but I think that is easily solved. Other than those complaints, I think I like it and could get use to it enough to drop harmful cigs- if I can find the right one for me that is.

Does one have to draw on all e-cigs harder than a regular cig or is there a better one out there, in which you don't feel like you're sucking in your lungs too just to get a hit and vapor? Are there lighter weight e-cigs also? So far, even though only one has worked (I think) they have been heavier in weight than I'm use too. If having to draw on it harder then a real cig is working that is.

Thanks. Maybe you all can help me figure this out so I can switch over more smoothly and happier. :)

Small light weight e-cigs are good for people who don't smoke a whole lot. If you are a heavy smoker you will need a big battery to last a while. You get over that size thing quick. Most e-cigs are an easier draw than cigarettes but you do need to draw a little slower. Our forum approved vendors have juices of all sorts and all flavors. I would recommend freedomsmokeusa vapor4life and MsTsbakery for juices.

And I like your avatar.

Mriana, some small automatic ecigs make you draw harder to activate the atomizer and create the vapor. Manual batteries are not as hard, they have a button to control how much you inhale, a little or a lot. Other ecigs are easier to draw and simulate a real cigarette, and the batteries last longer and you can order dozens of flavors to fill the cartridge or cartomizer. You should keep at it and try it for a while and then try another more popular ecig if this doesn't do it for you. It is all a matter of personal taste. Many people buy the store or gasoline station brands or mall kiosk types and find they don not do it for them. As people here at the ECF and you will get lots of advice. Trying to balance the weight, look adn feel of a real cigarette with the ecig is misleading. Many will tell you "the more it looks like the real thing, the less the performance will be". The eGo, Riva are good solid starter kits and have batteries that will last for several hours or a day depending on how much you vape. You can get them at dozens of good suppliers on ECF and many only take 2-3 days to get to your mailbox. Cignot.com is in the midwest, Libertyflights.com will give 20% off your purchase, hitthe discount button in upperleft corner, Litegisusa.net delivers very fast adn many others. If you need more help, just ask anyone a question. Good luck and message me I am in St. Louis.

Don't buy auto batteries. And most crap and ripoff web "name" brands only sell auto batteries so that kills two birds with one stone. Also don't buy any place that doesn't sell blank carts and juice. Don't buy anyplace that charges more than $20 for a slim battery. And in general, don't buy anything unless you know what Chinese model it really is, whether that is a good model, where else you can get parts for it and what it should cost.

We have plenty of stronger stuff. it all depends how unlike a cigarette shape you are willing to go.

Which model did you get at ePuffer? They have a lot of models.

If you get manual batteries then your drag is not what causes it to make vapor - instead holding a button in does that. It gives you more control of your hit and it's less work. In addition, manual batteries are less prone to being damaged or killed by juice leaks. And manuals won't turn on by accident from wind or vibration.

To get decent strength you need at least 9.2mm diameter (a bit thicker than a cigarette) and at least 120mm long - i.e minis rather than superminis. Bare minimum for a decent ecig. If you have a strong interest in prefilled then you need KR808D-1 (cheap at LiteCigUSA.net, and see fancier colors and prefilled cartos at Vapor4Life.com). Vapor4Life cartos are soft-cap and they sell blanks too as well as juice and you can also use any of the hundreds of juices from elsewhere. That is the best 2-piece threading, most support for new kinds of cartomizers. If kept damp with eliquid you may get 4-7 days decent performance out of a cartomizer.

If you don't mind using blank cartomizers etc then look at manual 510 threaded devices -
Figuring 100mah is about an hour of moderate vaping
Joye 510 - short battery life 180mah, small size w/ a cartomizer
Joye 510 s/ mega xl batteries - 60% more charge at 280mah, 128mm long w/ a cartomizer
(the KR808D-1 standard length is also 280mah)

then there are the fat battery models which not only have a charge that lasts much longer but also can use hotter power-hungry low resistance atomizers or cartomizers for a hotter harder hit
650-1100mah and maybe more
Ego
Riva 510
and others

And then there are 3.7 510-threaded mods is a variety of odd shapes

I agree with all the technical details that dormouse enumerated on. If all this is greek to you, you can go to the ECF library and read the "wonderful world of vaping" and learn about all these things like the hardware the juices, the batteries, the cartidges and atomizers, a lot to learn but worth it. Or vapiingguide.com has a lot of info as well.

I usually smoke Virginia Slims or Misty 120 (the long ones :D ) Menthols, full to light flavour, and around 15 cigs/day- That is my usual, which I guess is a lot of hits given how long they are and how many a day. With this particular e-cig it seems I am having to draw harder than I did on real cigs. I'm totally lost as to what will be satisfying in an e-cig for me. Manual sounds interesting, the way you describe it dormouse. I'm figuring I'm going to have to try a different that doesn't force me to draw as hard. While I like pink, I'm not so much concerned about the colour right now as finding one in which I can say more than just, "I think I could get use to this and switch." I would like to be able to say, "I can could get use to this and quit the real thing."

not complicated at all.....probably the most hassle free, worry free, easy PV....perfect for a newbie.
i dunno about that Smoking Everywhere...i dont buy from those "scam" companies. i have been vaping since 2008 so i have lots of experience with ecigs. GO GO is THE BEST EVER.

GoGos (sounds like a dancer or Laugh-In) are easier to draw a puff off of, unlike Smoking everywhere's? Given the name, could be perfect. I'm reading now and hopefully they aren't too complicated either.

Smoking Everywhere is a scam company? I didn't know that. All I saw was something that looked easy for a newb, but trying to take a drag is like blowing on a Tuba when you're not use to it, but doable. I had no idea that these things have been out since at least 2008. The start kit price doesn't look too bad and if the company doesn't give me any run-arounds getting me a working product even better. So the companies advertised around here good one's? I don't want to be out of money or go 20 rounds to get a promise replacement again, if you know what I mean, thus I want to gather all the info I can this time before I try another e-cig. The next one I get, I want to be fairly sure I'll be happy with it and have no headaches getting it.

SmokingEverywhere? Lets see - they charge $30 for an atomizer that should cost $7. yes they are a ripoff.

The Vapor4Life.com KR808D-1 is very easy and they probably have pink. Look at the standard battery manual kits.

But I really think my 510 w/ a blank Boge carto I filled with a lightweight juice like 80pg/20vg gives an easier draw.

I see a Pink 510 mega xl manual kit here. The PCC this would use is the Joye Mega PCC, a metal PCC I believe you can get in pink. Downside of the metal 510 PCC is a bit sharp edged and not very roomy,
Joye 510 Mega Starter Kit Pink | Joye 510 Mega Electronic Cigarette

And here is the standard shorter (and shorter charge) pink 510 manual kit
Joye 510 Starter Kit Pink | Joye 510 Electronic Cigarette
With this size batteries you could use the standard size Joye 510 PCC (metal) or this roomier one
VPCC Personal Charging Case

And with those 510s - 510s come as 3-pieces with atomizers and reusable carts (buy eliquid!) But most people get annoyed with carts after a short while and switch to cartomizers and/or dripping (using a drip tip on the atomizer).
These are the cartomizers I use (and are most popular on slim 510)
510 Blank Cartomizers

Use dripping or carts to test juices. You can get replacement precut blue foam stuffing for 510 carts at strictlyejuice.com. You can get a drip tip where I linked to the cartomizers.

Cartomizers are disposable combined cart and atomizer. They are usually black and take the place of the middle part and mouth part of the 510 (they are filter-sized and screw right onto the battery). If you fill one well, let it set so all stuffing gets wet, and keep it damp with juice then it may perform well for 4-7 days or longer. They need to be filled completely (for the Boge ones that is 18+ drops into the stuffing. I carefully pop out the cap with an unbent paperclip. careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop. I hold a tissue against the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and drip 18+ drops in. Then I clean/dry the threaded end, blow into the threaded end to clear the ait channel, sop up any loose juice above the stuffing. recap. On a fresh fill I then let it lay on different sides for 15-20 minutes. If your juices are more vg than 70pg/30vg then you may need to let the carto settle and soak up the liquid longer to avoid singeing it. Then when vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto seems too warm, I add some liquid.

I didn't see that kind of price, but I must say, I'm not happy and I don't think or I didn't imagine this would be the experience. I'll give everyone's suggest a look and see which one I like best and hope it goes better with the next one. Thanks.

my first e-cig was purchased at the liquor store across the street for around $80. the pre-filled cartos were $15 for a 5-pack. they were auto batteries and the draw was super hard. (this was a Fuma e-cig, btw) I did manage to use it for about a week or 2 before going back to smoking for the past 2 years. then early last month I ordered myself a 510 kit from cignot with PCC for $65 and an embarrassingly large order of e-liquid to go with it. 25 days now, no cigs, and no desire to go back to it. even having a difficult day today where vaping isn't satisfying (I'm out of my favorite liquids.) I'm still going at it. I guess it's all about finding the right juice/pv to suit you. I'm still on my quest to find the right juice and I'll still buy more pvs/accessories.. but I love my 510!

oh, and also.. I've been a menthol smoker for quite some time, but I'm actually a much bigger fan of non-menthol e-liquids.. the menthols aren't providing as much TH as I'd like. vaping a custom menthol now that was great a few weeks ago. not so satisfying now that I've had a taste of some other stuff. I'm just saying.. don't try to stick to menthol because you're a menthol smoker. tons of different liquid out there to try :)

Thanks, TheRealHex. I'm about to go back, at least until I buy one that's been suggested here, and I've only been off the cigs for two days. It seems a lot of people like the GoGo and the 510. As long as the draw is easier than this thing, then finding the right juice will be easier I'm sure. Either I have a bad e-cig or the brand in general is lousy, because it doesn't sound like it should be hard to draw anything from it. I tried to see if it was clogged, but I can't tell anything. I thought it would be at least as easy to draw off an e-cig as a real cig, but it a lot harder- at least with this thing and it's getting quite tiresome.

I'm learning something here and I wish I had come here first before I bought this one. I might have been a lot happier with my first e-cig and not wondering if they are all like this.

Hello fellow Springfieldian!!! I've been all over town here looking at different things, the most popular you'll find is the Fifty One brand here in town, and they are over priced and automatic batteries that are hard to draw and just won't make starting out easy, we (My husband and I) sampled their wares @ the mall and though their juices are nice, the kit itself is 3x's the price of good kits here online. The one that was successful to us as a trial option before we made an order last week, was purchased at the Signal convenience store on the corner of Broadmoor and Campbell street. They have disposable Menthol e-cigs from the brand Envy Cigs, they cost 12.99 for 1 disposable with a manual battery, the container claims it's approx 2 packs of cigs, I don't know that it's 2 packs, but my husband smokes a pack to pack and a half a day of pall mall reds and he was able to use the disposable for 2-3 days in a row before the battery died. This style is just like the most common Joye 510 style and gives you the ability to try the manual battery and see that you don't have to suck your lungs out to draw on it or anything. I strongly recommend you try them and then from there look into ordering. I got 2 manual battery kits in nice colors (even PINK!) from them and 10 empty carts for a total of $80.00 with free shipping.

Try the disposable ones from the Signal station over on Campbell street and then add in all the good stuff from here and make your decision. It's what I did, and I'm happily not wanting a regular cig at all, and the hubby's finding he doesn't want them either....it's well worth it!!!

oops,,,let me edit...when I said : "I strongly recommend you try them and then from there look into ordering. I got 2 manual battery kits in nice colors (even PINK!) from them and 10 empty carts for a total of $80.00 with free shipping. "

I left out a little bit on accident!!! What I meant was, we tried the ones @ the convenience store, and then ordered from Cignot.com and got their no-box 510 Joye kits and they even had the pink one! I didn't mean to leave out the "Cignot.com" part....OOPS!
