Hi everyone!

I've tried vaping in the past (on an RN4081), and was really unhappy with it. Recently a few things have happened in my life and I really want to quit smoking cigarettes ASAP. Yesterday I took the plunge and bought a Volcano Inferno with the tank kit, since it seemed like it would be the best way, since lozenges, patches, and cold turkey haven't worked for me. After a little reading, I have some questions:

1) There have been posts on Volcanos' forums, and it seems some folks are having issues with the tanks, and opinions are pretty divided there. Does anyone have tips/tricks to help me avoid the common problems with tanks, or at least links to more info?

2) I've read that 80/20 is the best mix for the tanks. I've looked at Volcanos e-juices, and none really tickled my fancy. Do you guys have preferred vendors that supply that kinda mix? I looked at Ms T's bakery, and found lots of flavors I want to try, but apparently they may not be suitable for tanks.:(

3) Should I have gone with a drip tip or cart option? I liked the idea of the tank and the big battery so I could vape at home or the car and not worry about fiddling with it, but in hindsight I'm worried I should've gone with a different option.

4) Is it true it's really a rebranded EGO? Can I use EGO parts with it, if Volcano's stuff goes TU?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Ghost! First off, it can be a little overwhelming getting started. You will get tons of suggestions on what kit to buy, cartos, attys, tanks, etc. JMO I have seen success with all sorts of combinations, but everyone is different. Tanks can be a real pain, and from what I've read and researched they all (at some point) leak. If you want convenience you should probably look into getting some good cartomizers. Less of a chance of leaks (unless overfilled) than tanks even more less if the carto has filler. I have been seeing a lot of people suggesting the boge cartos and a good friend and coworker just got some and said they are awesome. I have been pretty faithful to CE2's, which leak, the tubes pop off the base, and they need to be modded to work "right", but I'm willing to do it all because the vapor and flavor on them is great IMO....with a 3.7 ego (provari is ordered). Some will disagree, others will agree. It's all preference truly, but that preference is through trial and error till you find your sweet spot. Don't hesitate to ask anything. There is an amazing amount of info here and some amazing people with tons of trial and error knowledge. Cartos should be a safe start for you so that you don't get frustrated and jump back on the analog train. The volcano appears to be a 510 kit, ego type clone, so you'll want to look for 510 cartomizers. Hang in there and vape on!!!

Hello and welcome! I also 1st started w/ a Rn4081, the njoy pro. It didn't work much, nor the NLA, "cheapo 510." A week ago i got in a dse-901 & haven't smoked anything since!

So from one noob to another, welcome!

Thank you for the welcome! :)

My best friends wife is also looking into PVs and wants an inexpensive one that's close in size to a regular cigarette. Would you recommend the DSE-901 for a first-timer? She's never tried any before, and she needs to quit, because my BFF was just diagnosed with COPD. I warned her away from the gas station 4081s, but would love to be able to recommend one to her. She doesn't want to have to fiddle with one too much. She wants something that'll work with minimal fuss.

Ah! I've been worrying about leaks. So carts/cartomizers could be the way to go? How's the vapor production on those? That was my biggest issue with the 4081. It was just way too weak. Are the cartomizers refillable? I got laid off recently, so I'm looking for anything re-usable to help cut costs.

Volcano just sent me a tracking number, so hopefully it'll be here this week (it's coming USPS Priority). Thankfully, I didn't load up on extras, so I can swing cartomizers if the tanks don't work out.

Thanks for the encouragement! I really need it right now... :)

There are several forum members that are big 901 fans and may chime in when they read this thread. I am an ego user so I'm not familiar with the 901's, so I can't give advice. However, anything to get her off the analogs for any period is a GOOD thing. Start her off and stay with her and support her. That's another great thing about this forum, it's also a great support group because we have all been there at some level.

You are correct, the inferno is an ego. As KTaylor stated, you will want to buy accessories that are 510 compatible. I would also recommend the Boge 2.0 cartomizers. Alot of vendors sell them but I have no idea how to make a link :/ so......electronicstix.com or the best price is with crystalclearvaping.com (15 carto deal). I used the tank system, both type A and B and prefer the B type (straight up and down cylinder look). If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't mess with the tank and just stick to cartomizers :) There is so much out there now, even in the 6 short months that I've been vaping everything has changed!

As far as juice goes, I would recommend freedomsmokeusa.com; vaperite.com and vaporbomb.com. There are many more really good vendors out there but the 3 I listed are the ones that I go to often. Freedomsmoke has an amazing inventory of flavors. I would advise ordering sample sized bottles from whomever you decide to go with. I have quite a few 30ml bottles of juice just sitting around waiting to be vaped, that I just don't care for that much. I just can't bring myself to throw them out yet.

If you go with the cartomizers, you don't NEED a driptip, but, some of them are just so purdy!

I'll definitely support her (and visa-versa), since she's my BFFs wife and is like a sister to me. I'll try to get her and her husband to sign up as well. She wants to quit because of his condition, and he really has no choice but to quit. I want to quit for him and her, and because my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer last week (lung and bone). All three of us can use all the support and encouragement we can get at this point.

You may not have any problems at all with the tank and I really hope you don't. You can get a box of boge cartomizers and they're pretty inexpensive to try. Joogler has them fairly cheap and you get a free bottle of juice. Use the couple code ECF5OFF for $5 off your first order.

You can get a free sampler of juice from Vermillion River and you just pay postage. Try some juice from Ms T's. If it doesn't work out in your tank, use it in the cartos. It might work in your tank, you might just have to clean the atomizer more frequently.

Cartos are very economical. There are several vendors that sell them listed here on the forum. If you shop around you can even find them on sale. You should be able to get a 5 pack for around 8-10 bucks. They last a while, vapor is very good and flavor is better than it is on a tank IMO.

Sweet! I'll have to check those out! My Inferno is coming with a tank-o-mizer, so I can just take that off, and use the cartomizer in it's place, correct? Or am I way off base?

I really wish I'd signed up yesterday and asked before ordering...

If your friends wife wants a mini, I'd recommend a KR808 (Volt, Bloog, V4L) or a 510. Both are good pvs. They just have limitations due to battery size. You get approximately 1 hour per 100 mah of constant vaping. The KR808 is a two-piece (carto & battery) the 510 is a two piece or three piece (carto & battery, or cart/atomizer & battery)

If she gets a KR808 and she wants to move up in battery size, she can get a igo, echo, gogo. All are KR808s. If she gets the 510, she can more up to an ego, echo-e, kgo.

*crosses fingers that Ms T's stuff plays nice with my PV*
