Hey everyone, new to this. Considering I have to make 5 posts, I'm trying to formulate a discussion.

Welcome. I just wanted to say hello, while you're waiting for the knowledgeable people to chime in. I just got my first rta (Lemo V1), and I haven't even built it yet. I like it, and I'm a little afraid it'll never vape again.

Hi and welcome to the board. I am not an expert on drippers, but have you tried Clapton wire? In general, the idea is to increase surface area of the coil wire. You can buy the wire. It's also possible to make it, but it's a royal pain in the patoot. Pretty simple, though: Clapton wire is nothing more than a heavy gauge wire-- 24 or 26 or 28-- with a smaller gauge like 32 spiraled around it.

Not to worry. Unless you break off a post, it's hard to mess one up. You might get a build that doesn't work well, but all you'd have to do is put another build in it. I have a V2-- it's rapidly becoming my favorite tank-- and I have never failed to put a good build in it. Better still, it wicks really easily. Most people have more trouble with wicks than the coil...

I watched a couple videos on it but it honestly looks bit complicated for my taste right now. I just got my dropper maybe two weeks ago. I've gotten good at building but not great. I feel like my first several efforts on Claptons will be poorly executed.

I'm eventually hoping to get a zephyrus, but I have a Herakles coming tomorrow morning. All I can say with building is to practice on a screwdriver all the time. I watched videos and got a 25' roll of wire. I've snapped tons of coils while tightening and had all kinds of fiascos. Plain and simple, I love my dripper more than my Atlantis V2.

They will be, if you're like me. Mine were :) But when you get a good one, it's pretty fabulous :) Still, though, twisted works fine, too. I like to keep my coils up above .4ish, and that's not easy to do with dualies and twisted heavy gauge wire. You might try getting some 32 ga, twisting it, and building a spaced coil rather than a contact coil. You can get them very even by going to the hardware store and buying a machine screw in an appropriate diameter and winding it around that. This gives you a nice, even spiral path to wind it. Then just unscrew the screw out of the middle of the coil when you're done. Again, just a thought...

+1 on @suprtrkr recommendation.

Think about ways to increase your surface area. If in going with a lower ohm build i decrease the ID of the coil. Upper range of ohms, increase the ID. I am limited in the power department because i use mechs, so i have to get creative with some of my builds. Ive got some 34guage wire in the mail for an idea of got for a Rampage build.

See if anywhere near you sells prewrapped claptons. Maybe try a 4 strand twist or something.

I have a screw that I can use to build on that works pretty well. I've gotta practice on that to get better though. Somehow it always winds up lopsided after I wick it. Could I theoretically do a twisted spaced coil? Or would that be counter productive?

No problem with that. My thinking on it was to space out in length a shorter piece of small diameter wire. And if you're using cotton wick and it's pulling your coil out of shape, you're using too much. With cotton, less is more. It should slide through the coil with almost no resistance. Rayon is different. Rayon shrinks when wet. Cotton get bigger.
