New to V4L - Cartridge questions (taste nasty!!!)

I've been using Red Dragon mini's for about 9 months (sporadically w/ analogs). Am good with taste & vapor production of the Dragons but batteries have been dying out at an alarming rate so, although they replace them, I decided to try another brand of ecig.

Ordered the manual Vapor King. Love the manual w/o the irritating 3 sec auto shut-off! Unfortunatley I'm hating the taste of every single flavor I've gotten... WOW Caramel & all the tobacco shop samplers. The VK is also way more affordable than the dragon so I really really want to like this.

Any suggestions for V4L flavors that don't taste like analog ash trays? Do the fruity flavors still have heavy tobacco undertones? I've got 18 strengths right now... is that the problem?

Wowboy, Wow Peppermint, & Wow Razz, try them, I vape at 18mg, they are sweet. I also recommend getting some Cool Cartos blanks and juice. If you don't like them I will buy them from you! No, the fruity flavors do not have tobacco undertones. 3 sec auto shut-off? My auto don't have a shut off....

All 3 of these flavors provide exellent vapor production, light throat hit, and massive amounts of flavor.

Note: Wowboy does have a hint of tobacco, chocolate, vanilla, mint...but I luves the stuff.

Snow & Poison - many thanks for the tips! Do you know the heavy taste I'm referring to in the tobacco shop samplers? I'll definitely try all of your suggestions! After paying over $11 for each box of 4 carts with Dragons I'm giddy with affordability.

Cappy, I know exactly what taste you're refering to and some flavors hide it better than others. Unfortunatly, it might be trial & error to find one you like the best.

The Look, kinda funny my wife watches Jersey Shore from time to time...and calls me the "The Main Event"...anyways, Pre-fills are good way to go if you want to sample a new flav that doesn't come in a 5ml. I haven't done much dripping yet... will definitely give that a try though! I've got a bunch of dif juices that I was starting to refill my dragon carts with but haven't had the pleasure of a "blank" cart.

I wasn't a menthol smoker so have illogically stayed away from minty freshness in the flavors - silly really as I love the Altoids!

Good man Cappy...I'll find something to buy whenever there is 20+% sale going on. Get some blanks, I suggest Cool Carts, hold more juice and they don't heat up. I've been using the same cart for 20 refills and it works great.

I would suggest getting 2 packs to start in different colors, makes it easier when using a couple of different juices. Vaping RazzWow right now, man this stuff is goooooood!

I started with V4L prefilled cartos and the Vaporking myself. I never did like the prefilled carts either. I have also started ordering good USA made juice and blanks and I am loving it!! Quite a few really good vendors for juice out there! So much better imo!!

I like their 555 in 24 mg, but not the 18. They both taste different to me. I usually use 18 mg.

Hi Cappy. Many people already know this (and are probably tired of hearing me talk about it), but I tried V4L a year ago and gave up on vaping because of the horrendous taste of their pre-filled cartos. I got headaches, nausea, and nearly threw up...on every flavor (and I ordered a large variety). I do know that V4L has great batteries, so my suggestion would be the same as @thelook's: Buy empties and fill them with good (USA) juice.

Dripping into cartos (or filling them, rather) is MUCH easier than you'd think...

I just pop the white top off the cartomizer with a paperclip or bobby pin, take one of the condoms (plastic/rubbery covers) that come on the cartos, fill it half-way with juice, stick the end (that screws into the battery) into the filled-up condom (that sounds sick lol), and push it down slowly until you see the juice coming up into the white fill. Pull the condom off the bottom of the carto, wipe off the threads with a tissue, pop the cap back on, and you're vaping like a champ.

I've only been doing this for a week, and I'm already to the point where it feels like second nature. Takes less than a minute to do. And it's sooooo much cheaper than buying cartos! I would have gone back to smoking if I had to buy pre-filled cartomizers constantly. I have some cartos that I've reused 20 times. I just keep them topped off so they don't get burnt tasting.

Plus, you get to try some Backwoods Brew, which is the ultimate vape. You haven't lived until you've tried some of Don's juice. OMG, the flavor and vapor just blows V4L (or any other pre-filled, IMHO) out of the water. There is no comparison.

Hope I'm not being pushy...that isn't my intention. Just trying to help you have the best vaping experience possible. I do realize that each person takes their own path, I just wish that someone had explained to me a year ago what I just explained to you...if that were the case, I'd be a year smoke-free instead of two weeks.

Oh, and btw, you can rinse out your cartomizers under warm water and refill them with another liquid if you want (I do this all the time). You could even take your current V4L cartos and rinse them out (don't throw 'em away!) and refill with a good juice. I can't find the thread on how to do it, so I'll just post it here, instead:

1. Take the white plug out with a paperclip or bobby pin...tool of your choice.
2. Run some warm water from your tap.
3. Hold the cartomizer under the running water, and then pull it back and let the water run out. Do this about five times.
4. Blow HARD into the cartomizer.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 about 4 or 5 times...or until you think the old juice is out.
6. Use the 'Condom Fill Method' I explained above to refill your cartomizer with some good USA-made juice.
