New to VaPes... An intro and a question.

Hey all. I'm Erik. I'm from Alabama. I work for Jack White(let me pick up that name I dropped. Not being bragadocious(sp?)... but i do have a sickness called verbosious. there's a reason i mention.) as a session guitarist/song smith/song and dance man on his label Third Man Records in Nashville. Ibe smoked since I was 11 (quit for 5 years from 18-23) and am now 31. Jack smoked forever and quit cigs (smokes Capon e cig a rolls now) a few years ago cuz of his kids. He has gotten tired of the Intoxicating second hand smoke he is exposed to due to my 2 pack a day habit. So I've decided to try this vape thing out.

First I got one of those Chinese e cigs, mark something... I think, and had ok results. so after research, I decided to get a refillable liquid version to accommodate my deep inhales and high nicotine tolerance. I went to a local store that has a ton of different kinds and bought a White Rhino Liquid e cig kit with invisible wick tank, charger, atomizer, lithium io(u get the idea) for the 'clearance' price of $15 and some cherry liquid.
I've been hitting it and there isn't amy throat hit! I blow out viper but that long filling bite I crave(one thing no other quitting aids could offer. Why they didn't work and I thought this would) is nowhere to be found. Is it the juice?
I know battery power has a direct effect on size and quality of hits... How does the WR stack up? Should I take it back and get the Lotus brand with variable Battery mAs? I'm very handy(eespecially electronics. I keep third man, jack, and many friend's sound systems going. And I've never been afraid to open-er up. Just fixed a cold solder point on a highly expensive PA the label just bought -ggot refund from vendor and since it is considered dangerous to ship cuz it has a battery, got to keep it. So nothing to lose. Works great now).
Anyway. Thought I'd jump in this pool with yall. Good to know you all and I look forward to mixing it up and getting weird with this group.

Howdy, welcome to the ECF!

I'm personally not familiar with the White Rhino Liquid e-cig kit, but judging from the appearance of the site, I'm not entirely sure they released this kit with the intent of it being used for.. ahem.. "licit materials" (ie: e-liquid with stuff other than nicotine in it, if you catch my drift), but what you have seems to be a basic Ego-style battery with a plastic (I assume) tank. I started off on one of these, and it never really got me off the real thing.

My primary suggestion (unfortunately) is to upgrade your gear. I can't really suggest sticking with the White Rhino Lotus kit, because I can't really seem to find any information about it (I mostly just find information about.. the illicit stuff). You got a budget, I assume? What kinda damage are we willing to do? :)

Hummmmm try a eleaf istick 50w(long battery life to get you trough your day)and a kanger subtank mini (subohm tanks easy to refill with a ton of option with great clouds at low wattage)with a good 80,90 % pg mix with a 6 mg nico in it and inhale direct to lungs...
....or you can try what is my best set up to date...a smok xpro m80(good internal battery too that you recharge with your cell charger like the eleaf 50)with an high voltage 0.2ohm tank at 65watts..always max VG juice 6 or 8 mg nico (those things kicks and satisfies more than you think man,no need to go higher ) and direct lung inhale....be ready for the blast my friend
I already hear your friend jack complaining about those big "a" clouds in the van loOl!:vapor::ohmy:
Thank me later dude;)

Thanks for the replies! And no flaming! Ha. My verbose comments tend to bring out the troll in people. Ha. To answer some of yer questions- I'm using 24mg cherry juice. And yea, I checked out the site... they don't even hide it! Clean pee? Ha. And now that I look at it, the atomizer seems to be designed to optimize [edited] use. I didn't get it for thaT. [edited] Ha. switched my D.O.C. to one that would ruin my life i didnt make the $ i makE. Poor- junkie scum. My tax bracket- eccentric. Ha. it probably doesn't really Vape the liquid correctly if it's optimized for thick wax. I was getting larger hits from my Phillip morris (didn't they change their name?) Mark ecig u got for free with coupon. I don't have a budget. I do have a problem keeping up with stuff. I've misplaced the rhino. Ha. And my camels. So Had to open another carton. Hopefully the cherry smell won't piss jack off... at least not as much as his cigarillo smoke does me! He smoked more than me while in the white stripes. Miracle he hasn't went back. Even if he DOES get nicotine from rillos even without inhaling. Funny side story, Willie Nelson recorded his Crossroads episode at Third Man Records and he saw jacks Rollo and grabbed it and hit it hard. Causing him to nearly pass out coughing. Ha. [edited]. Haha. Moving oN. I appreciate the suggestions. Good to find people serious about vaping without the pretense. I went to a Vape shop here in Nashville and they treated the guy in front of me that was an older guy wanting to switch like .... cuz he had 'Chinese imitation cig' and he wouldn't be interested in their products. I pulled my Mark out intentionally waiting for the chick to say that to me. But, of course, she was at Third Man when I played with Jack during the recording of the world's fastest record for record store day and treated me like most fan girls do... As a stepping stone to Jack. Haha. Look forward to continuing this chat. Maybe I'll get Jack to check it out if he will shut up. Haha.

I found rhino. After fully charging and straight inhaling till the light blinks and goes off (Drum roll) I KINDA get thay satisfying feeling. But way too much work. This is way inefficient. I'll give it to... well... any musician at third man. They all smoke. Ha. Im comfortable $200 on a device that will last. I've read these clear plastic tanks degrade in as little as 2 weeks and begin leaking. Shame cuz device seems well made! Tank screws tight to battery. Battery screws nice to usb charger. All assembled it seems solid. Maybe the problem? An imposter posing as an elite device? Glad I didn't $60+ for setup like the user here (googled white rhino problems and this site looked best. He paid $60 and was having trouble after a week!). The way technology advance exponentially, wonder if it is possible to even get a piece that will last me years? Especially if I succumb to my early adopter affliction. In fact, only sound isn't effected by tech advances. Can't beat my vintage Mcintosh MC 110 preamp into two bridged mono tube mcintosh preamps for stereo sound-vinyl at home. Digital on the road. And my 8 Bryston amps from the 90's that powers my theater rooms system. Use cheap Crown k2 amps hooked to the audio out of my flatscreens for my other Rooms - ie rooms others use. Like living and guest rooms. Ha.) Btw, I build speaker boxes In my spare time. I built all of Jacks, Becks, and a millionare audiophile neighbors speakers. Supply the speakers, 2 or 3 ways Or subs, and $ for wood and you can have some Bailey originals. I do it for fun, not cash. So quality is paramount. Even if I lose $. See what happens when im forced to write music and or lyrics? Mind is like a broken hydrant. Friend me if you made it this far in my mad ravings. Ha. Just don't get me started on souNd. Ha. Im arranging 'Dyin Crapshooter Blues' by Blind Willie McTell for an upcoming single I'm doing. And also gonna give jack to play live. That has my consciousness stream raging. Ha.

Yep, I'd definitely say that is probably the reason it's not working so great heh. It's probably great for whatever it's meant for, but probably not so great for e-liquid.

The lady at the vape store was probably commenting on a "clone" of an authentic device. Kind of a long and fruitless explanation, but some people put great emphasis on whether something is "authentic" or "cloned". Authentic devices are original, and produced by the person who designed the device. 99% of the time authentics will cost more than clones (sometimes authentics will be 300$ while their clone counterparts are 30$). Many people think that you sacrifice quality, and potentially safety features, when you go ahead and get a clone. That said, I own 3 clone mods (the part with the battery) and a slew of clone atomizers (the part on top that actually does the vaporizing). They all work fantastically, and are arguably 1:1 replicas of their authentic counterparts. Some people see this as gypping the authentic makers out of their hard-earned money, but when they're charging 300$+ for a device that I may lose, break, or just plain not enjoy (it's not like people are giving guarantees with their devices..) it seems like a risky investment, y'know?

Anyway, all that said, I'd suggest looking into a good starter device. A lot of people (myself included) enjoy the iStick 20W + an Aspire Nautilus. It's a very straight-forward system to use, simply fill the e-liquid in the tank, screw it on top, you can fiddle with the wattage/voltage if you want, but I personally leave mine at 11W (with a Nautilus Mini attached) and haven't changed it in weeks. Occasionally the coils will go bad after you've gone through a certain amount of e-liquid (people reckon 30mL or so, or about 5-10 tankfuls), or if you happen to set your device at too high of a wattage and burn the wicking material. That said, it's very non-fiddly, user-friendly, and I'd definitely recommend it to a newcomer who's just looking to get off the analogues. It's certainly not a "no-explanation" device, but there are tons of YouTube videos and people on here that will be able to guide you through the process. It can get VERY complicated if you want it to, but if you're just looking to stop smoking cigarettes for now and not interested in the hobby aspect as much, a Nautilus Mini and an iStick 20W is probably the best thing I can recommend you. Another plus, the iStick's battery life is phenomenal. I can go a couple days without charging, and I'm a pretty heavy vaper.

All that will set you back about 60 bucks (you can probably find better deals -- someone will likely post some crazy nice steals), but if you're not picky, I really like the customer service from Kidney Puncher. They tend to quality control test all of their stuff, which is nice, and they also have a nice selection both of juice, devices, and atomizers (authentics and clones). If you're gonna scoop some juice as well, make sure you're getting actual e-liquid, and not flavorings (they're pretty clearly listed, but as I said, great customer service, feel free to shoot 'em questions).

Since you've been vaping something not really meant for e-liquid, I'm gonna reckon that 24mg is too strong in the Nauti Mini (I was a 2 PAD smoker, and I started off on 12mg -- which I found pretty quickly can get you a crazy buzz if you're chiefin' away). It might be worth it to scoop some extra e-liquid from wherever you end up purchasing off of, just in case you find your 24mg either too strong or unpleasant in your new device. This is all, of course, assuming you actually want a new device. Hopefully I didn't just overwhelm you too much.

Not at all overwhelming! I understand the need to point out replicas. But they have their place. I personally have a replica of 3 of my genuine rolex watches - a submariner, A yachtmaster II, and my GMT all have stand ins. My Daytona doesn't cuz replicas can't get the complications right. They come in handy especially in countries where the people will cut yer arm off for yer watch. I made mistake of thinking no one in Capetown would recognize a Brietling I bought before my replicas to wear... A concussion later I awoke watch, shoe, and belt (why? Ha)-less. And this guy would be fine with the starter kits they sold (iI bought him a rhino like mine. He's my vape bud.) That girl and the boss-wHo was nice then asked when he could get a limited edition tri color vinyl of Jack White's solo single 'Would you fight for my love"(we press 100-300 white, yellow, and black colored vinyl versions of most of our releases-Lead singer of Butthole Surfers' lmtd ed. Was pressed on x-rays! And theu go for a lot on ebay. Google triple decker record ebay) Just made the scene seem off putting. We both had white e cigs that looked like regular cigs (tthink they were both Mark by Phillip morris) and they treated me different. I said me and my new friend just aren't yer kind of people. And thay guy has even been by the studio. Ha. When they don't know you, they are a lot more fun to hang with. So it's ironic. Ha. Im glad I found this site. This is what that shop should have been. Advice for everyone interested. No matter the level of interest. And I'm pretty series. I'll pay $$$ for quality. I just have buy many cuz I lose everything. Ha.

Heh, if price is no object, I'd suggest skipping the iStick 20W and going straight to a DNA40 (ie: the Vaporshark rDNA or DNA40). Head to vaporshark.com and check it out. It's a pretty pricey device, but the quality truly shows. Talk to us about what you're considering before ya pull the trigger. It has a great form factor (it's tiny in the hand), and it has an awesome battery life. I've been meaning to invest in one for a while, as most Vaporshark owners I know tend to repeatedly buy Vaporshark products, a testament to their longevity.

Additionally, you'll be able to use the "temp control" (another setting that you kind of just leave at one # forever) with Nautilus heads if you buy the nickel nautilus heads -- vaporshark sells 'em. This will more or less prevent you from getting dry/gross hits. It's pretty fantastic technology, I'd say the DNA40 board is like the smartphone of vaping, as it's very user friendly and "tried and true". The more I think about it, the more I want one.

I almost forgot to mention, the DNA40 has real nice safety protection, I've never heard of anyone creating a catastrophic situation with a rDNA.
