New to vaping (and didn't smoke before), how to tell when I've had too much?

Nicotine causes fairly long term changes in brain chemistry, especially when consumed with the various other alkaloids in tobacco smoke.

It's very hard for any ex cigarette smoker to say what the effects of nicotine from e-cigarettes will be for a person who has never smoked.

Have you tried using non-nicotine liquid? Probably a better option, since you aren't addicted to the stuff :)

Yes, 0 nic liquid. That is your answer. 12 mg/ml nicotine is what a lot of pad smokers use. Is there some reason you want to get addicted to nicotine?

edit because is saw your next post... You might be surprised and find out that 0 nic might help with stress as well. 12 is really too high. I think it's an unwise decision on your part, but I'm assuming that you are a grown up, so you will do what you think best.

If you haven't smoked before, I strongly advise you don't vape nicotine laced juices. While vaping is indeed a less harmfull way to get this substance, it still is addictive. Why get hooked on something that you didn't need before?
Anyways, I don't want to be a moral nanny for anyone, everyone has the right to their own choices, so I'm sorry if I sounded like that. Just wanted to give you some food for thought initially.

As for your question : Lightheadedness and that fuzzy 'mind feeling' is an effect of too much nicotine. It's a high, although not exactly very pleasant. If you stand by your choice to vape nicotine juices, you might want to vape a little less at the start, to avoid that lightheaded feeling. You will eventually grow a tolerance and will be able to vape more without getting it, however.

I'm ordering 6 mg juice from this point on, and I understand that it probably isn't the best choice, but it's not exactly the worst decision I could be making at this point. I've got a fairly stressful life at the moment (currently 18 credit hours at college + working 30~ hours a week). It's just something I thought would help get me through life, and quite frankly it's been working.

Not really interested in 0% juice. I'm using this both as a hobby, and as stress relief, that'd defeat the point :p

Your life not mine, even though I believe nic via an ecig well take 99 times longer for u to get addicted.

Try bench presses, jogging, jigsaw puzzles, collecting stamps, model airplanes, skiing, self help books, yell at TV.

Try 4-6 nic, go with a strong flavor like absynth or a cola.

Please buy a Provari to help the Hobby.

+1 on the 0mg nic. The flavours you're interested in will taste truer. You'll probably want at least 50/50 pg/vg blend to get that hypnotizing plume of smoke.
That's the stress relief right there...taking a few moments and a few deep breaths...just you and the fog.....

The nic'll just raise your blood pressure and heart rate.

Sage advice, but still too many worry warts. Think of it like grandpa's pipe or cigar. No real nic addiction (maybe a physical or oral addiction), but a relaxing, after work hobby. Go with some low nic, 2-4mg and puff away man! If you really want some post-stress sedation, look at wta. The folks here aren't gonna like that I mentioned that, but hell, we're all adults here.

Try 2mg it is so low that you may get the results you're looking for without going overboard and smoking cigarettes down the road. There are a few places that sell very low nic a few are vapor4life 4mg. .......... goes as low as 2mg. I personally find that the zero gives me the feeling I want without having to have it all the time. I vape a lot of menthol every first week of the month when all my bills are due. I would really try zero just to see if a flavor you really like might relax you and not need any nic.

as a 25 year old 10yr plus pack a day smoker who's trying to quit id suggest you get the lowest nic you can find and even mixing it with a 0 nic to get it even lower. ill tell you its much much harder to know when you've had "enough" as compared to tobacco products. the light headache dizzy feeling is the onset of a overdose/overindulgence of nicotine. (which to me induces more stress than it relieves).
the act of vaping and the flavor many will say is therapeutic enough and that's what i am aiming for trying to wean off the nic.

to each his own though and i understand where your coming from.

another point ive noticed, i wish i started at a lower nic level because i also experienced the "whoa i had too much" and its a pain cause this is new and exciting to me so i wanna be vaping more often than i smoked. which wouldve been fine if i started lower. i just really want to quit so i went with the high nic and wean off approach that seems to work for the people ive talked to and the success stories ive read.

WTA is primarily for people who can't drop the cigarette habit. These people are generally addicted to the MAOI's in tobacco, very high levels of nicotine, or both nicotine and MAOI's. While I can't condone exnihilo's recommendation, if you do end up with a bottle of DIY WTA (I recommend Aroma Ejuice) adding a drop or two to a tank full of ejuice probably won't hurt. Just be aware that the potential for increased addiction is there.

I'm not one to tell another what's best for them, or what to do. That said, if I didn't have an addiction to nicotine, I wouldn't be vaping. I don't think nicotine is poison or anything crazy like that, but I am dependant on it. So as someone with a twenty plus year addiction, I would recommend 0 nic to you. I know you don't want to hear that, and I'm not trying to offend you. If you must use nic, I'd say 2mg is probably all you need. The others that have similar recommendations, are only trying to give you some very solid advice. Good luck.
