So the guy threw me a decent deal to grab an aspire Cleito since they were out of stock on the kanger tank i was looking for. How do I begin to break in the new tank? My other tank was used prior to me owning it.
Wow... that was quick. You must live in town.
Prime the coil, fill the tank, put it all together & start to vape... low first ideally just to make sure.
Knowing how much liquid to use on the priming is the trick. The more the cotton and larger the coil head, the more liquid I'd imagine. You can flood a coil but that doesn't kill it. Vaping at too high power before the cotton is saturated can.

Awesome got it done and vaping..last question I swear lol..on my iStick Pico the wattage mode can go up to 75W. The coil says 40-60W is that the setting range I should have the device in? It seems really hot and like it's too much power? Running a .4 ohm coil

Yep looks like I got hustled...I have the OCC ones. I'll go tell the guy at the vape shop he's a ........ for recommending those. Thanks again
This sucks! Same thing happened to me at first . I walked into a shop asking for a tank with best flavor, silly me for trusting the salesman. She sold me a crown 2 for 55 bucks with the original bum coils. Just a case of ... hats taking advantage. I've gotten to the point where I research everything and read many points of view before I go to the shop. The lady at the shop even went as far as to say it's the only tank she uses lol. Needless to say it's not, went back maybe a week later and she had some rda a cheetah I think on her mod. I wanted to wig out but just let it slide. I did leave without buying what I came for though. Won't be back either. Passing off bum stick on newbies is bad form but certainly appears to be a "thing" .best of luck to you in the future!

Hey everyone I am new, both to vaping and this forum, and am in need of some advice. I'm currently using an iStick Pico 50W max device with a kangertech subtank mini. I have several different coils ranging from .5 to 1.5 ohms. My issue is that I'm never sure how high to set the wattage to on my device. It seems no matter how high or low I set it, it is either too harsh and I cough or it's too weak and I get no smoke. I've only been vaping a few weeks but still haven't been able to get it right. Currently using a 9 mg 70 VG juice. Thanks in advance for any help!
Welcome and glad you joined.

I dunno about him being a ........ about it. I actually prefer the OCC coils over the SOCC coils. I use the .5 ohm OCC in my subtank and subtank nanos with no problem. Also, it's not really fair to judge a brick and mortar's price to an online vendor's price. The online vendor is usually lower due to the fact that a) they have a global market compared to a local one, and b) the competition is so fierce online, they have to lower prices to such a low margin for profit.. if they don't they won't get enough business to stay afloat. c) Less mouths to feed.. they don't need to spend money on salesmen or time taken away to show a customer a product.

Brick and mortar shops will always be more expensive.. just remember, you're paying more for the educational service and convienence. Online, you don't get someone to walk you through or give advice... (unless you come to here). So, I wouldn't Badmouth him.. just take it as a learning step.

No lol sorry I was definitely joking about going back to tell him that. He's actually a nice guy that took a lot of his time to help me get set up. I'll go back to his shop just for that reason..the local competition is very unwilling to help and explain things to an uneducated vaper such as myself. Worth the extra $ to support shops such as that one.

I was thinking after your original post that the nic might be a little high. I started with 6 & it was too harsh. Gave me a heart burn sensation. I guess if you're good with the new tank that's not the case but wanted to throw it out there. Also for .4 30-50 should be good depending on preference. Like others said start low. I usually go up about 5w at a time until the flavor starts to go away.

I wondered that as well but I'm not sure if 6 mg would be enough..I was about 1/2 pack a day or more smoker

Well I haven't quit yet but have gone from a pack a day for 20 years to half that or less without much effort. I'm not an expert but you're getting a lot more of that nic with a .4 coil than a 1.5. When I wasn't sure about dropping to 3 people told me to just keep hitting it till I was satisfied.

Going back some time, people quit smoking with 18mg (sometimes 24mg or even 36mg) using early devices. They didn't match the nicotine of smoking and we have since learned that no amount of vaping can match the levels in your bloodstream... sad but true.

18mg at 7.5 watts. vs 9 mg at 15 watts. vs 4.5mg at 30 watts.
36mg at 5 watts. vs 18mg at 10 watts. vs 6mg at 30 watts.

Who knows. I don't consider the resistance of the coil to be much relevant. It's the power you vape at and the amount of the nicotine you get in the vapor. The yield of nicotine is actually rather low whatever way you look at it.

Right I know it won't be the same "feeling" after vaping vs. smoking. I just want to make sure that dropping to a 3 or 6 mg to reduce harshness won't end up leaving me shaking wanting to smoke. With the 12 mg and now down to 9 mg I can go full days with just vaping and be ok. Cravings still there but they're tolerable.

My opinion is that dropping to 3mg would be too much of a drop, yes. When you start to get down this 'low' you need to think about the math.
Let's say I've gone down because I've gone up in power. Let's also say that every time I drop a level, I don't double my vaping (mls per day)... which is what some folk do and kid themselves they are wearing the badge of 'lowering my nic'....
I can't advise other than to say, if you make a big jump then you might notice. I went from 12mg to 6mg with a small increase in power and the same increase (%) in ml per day.
I do vape 3mg and even 1.5mg, but these are just for fun. If I fill my tanks with 3mg, then yes... I notice.
My next jump will be very small. Already some of my 6mg is secretly 4.8mg (mixing without a calculator) and I intend to deliberately mix 3.6mg as my next move.
Just experiment. Either do it very scientifically or just go with the flow. :)

Kanger coils have a "recommended" wattage on the coil. That being said the .5 coil is only good up to 35 watts. Never used the 1.5 coil way to weak for my taste but prob good around 13 watts. Hope that helps.

I vape a 1.5 around 7.5 ish watts.
