Hello all! I'm only about 3 weeks in with vaping and starting on Sunday, I can no longer taste ANY juice. This was going so well that I wasn't craving a regular cigarette. Now my satisfaction is gone bc I can't taste it. I broke down today and had a regular ciggy . What's the deal? Is it my set up? I have a Evod batter with a cartridge with the wick on the bottom. That's about all I know about the type of cig but I see all these jacked up, crazy looking systems that are really expensive so I'm wondering if just getting basic setup is affecting my flavor. Please note my first week of vaping was excellent with great flavors! I also switch flavors regularly so I don't think I'm getting used to my vapor. Please help! Thanks,

Lolli

Sounds like vapors tongue. Happens to almost all of yus when we quit smoking and go to vaping. Be sure to drink lots of water. Finding a strong flavor seems to help with some people. Like a cinnimon or anise. Sip some wine. either way, it will go away. So other than drinking lots of water the best suggestion I have to offer you is just be patient and rest assured it will pass eventually. my:2c:

Yep, it's a somewhat common phenomenon that happens to some people. You can try changing up your flavors a bit or maybe just ride it out. For some it's an initial thing that happens...for others, it happens more frequently. Might want to keep some cheapo or liquid you didn't care for on hand if it happens again...and just vape that, since you can't taste it anyway. Worry not, you'll be back to normal soon.

So is it linked to quitting smoking? I'm familiar with the changes my body will go through from all the toxin withdrawal but I thought it was supposed to liven up my senses. I'm willing to ride it out I was just really enjoying vaping over smoking until this happened.

And THANK YOU for the encouragement. I've been a smoker for 15 years or so and have quit many times. In the end, I've always picked it up because I missed inhaling something. As crazy as that sounds. I really hope this is the answer for me and I get my taste back.

INhale through my nose, not EXhale?

Hi, welcome! I am a newbie too.. only been vaping for about 3 weeks. I got this around my first week as well and after reading about vapors tongue I believe that's what I got. I smoked a stronger menthol flavoring that week so I could still taste something. It went away on it's own for me. Congrats on quitting! I was the same way about just wanting to inhale something. I knew I could quit but needed something to take the place of analogs for me and vaping is the answer!
When I exhale the vapor sometimes I will inhale through my nose at the same time to get some of the vapor into my nose. I think it really helps to enjoy the flavors but with some juices it's a little too harsh for me.
Best of luck and I hope the vaping tongue goes away soon for you!

It's your tongue/taste buds going into shock. I shocked it/them back awake by drinking lots of coffee, cranberry juice, water and alternating my menthol & cinnamon vapes. It hit me when I had been completely off the smokes for 2 weeks so I couldn't even taste them when I tried but I could still smell them--YUK! Radical flavor & hot/cold drink changes slapped my taste buds back but it would be intermittently off/on for that one long week. Being able to smell but not taste was a very odd feeling.

actually I think your atomizer needs changing; they get gunked up, and your vape starts tasting kind of dull or watery because the coil is covered in a layer of gunk and the liquid doesnt contact to hot metal and vaporize; or the coil might start flooding; get used to holding it up to your ear to hear how it sounds to figure out if it is working properly or flooded.

Day 4 of vapors tounge. I had a cig today but before today it's been over 2 weeks. But thanks anyway, I need all the encouragement I can get!

 hehe I'm a silly Fishee. I had even read that you had been at it for three weeks:blush: Hey 4 days maybe that means you're on the down hill side of vapors tongue. That would be fantastic! I may not be the fastest fishee in the pond but I sure can try to be an encouraging one.

I think this is pretty common when we first start out. I broke down on my 3rd day of vaping and smoked one myself. Damn this was just lying there all dolled-up and nekkid, calling my name. I had to smoke it just to shut it up.

^^^ I was gonna say that.

I have no evidence but I think vaper's tongue has something to do with acidity... or something of the sort. I know pickles help, and so do most things with vinegar. I've also noticed that if I forget to drink for too long and chain vape at all durring that time my front teeth get a little sensitive. That seems to be stopped with milk, or other bases (rather than acids.) It could just be me, but it's what I've noticed.. I'm sure eventually someone somewhere will do a study or 3 on it and then we'll have a better idea of what's really going on.
