Hey all,

In my search on e-cigs for my mother this forum kept popping up. A few weeks ago I learned something about e-cigs I never noticed when buying stuff for my mom...you can get them in 0g nicotine? I never knew and sure enough I go back to where I bought my mom's cartridges and noticed the 0 nicotine option:facepalm:

This is major for me as I've never been much of a daily smoker. In college I started smoking during finals coz of stress and carried a few around with me during work (worked in restaraunts/country clubs) so I could have a "smoke break", in reality it was just to get out of the hot kitchen and outside. Occasionally I'd smoke when I drank since you could smoke in bars where I went to school. Every new year's eve I would buy a pack of cigarettes: that pack would last me the whole year.
When I moved to California, they were too expensive so I bummed a few when i was out but it has been around a pack. I'd miss them during studying for various certificate tests for work and when I drank..compensating with more alcohol.
Recently I've been studying for the engineer in training exam (8 hour math test 8-o) and I've been craving cigarettes again. I believe it's the stress of this and my doctor changing an Rx to a higher dosage. I tried my friend's who stepped down from being a 1/2 pack a day to no nicotine e-cig and I liked it. She has a spare and I been using it for about 3 days and now I want my own.

I know generally speaking those who are lifelong smokers are not fans of "non-smokers" vaping but seriously before I tried this I thought "Well I guess I'm just gonna start back smoking...I'll get a pack for studying for the test" then I'd look at the 400+ pg study guide
"...maybe 2 packs". I was having dreams about smoking. I suppose with my mom being a smoker and lots of my friends smoking various things my brain's just wired to think "stressed? smoke." I really think this will be a better solution so I hope that I'll find some good advice and support.

If ever I was going to recommend a non-smoker take up vaping, it would be you. Considering how infrequently you would be using them you might want to look at the disposables if you can find them in 0 nic. Barring that I would say a cheap ego starter kit with a clearo. Unfortunately, I can't help you out on the clearo part as I don't use them. Pick the guy's brain at your local vape shop to figure out what you want, but check back here and the suppliers before you buy anything to make sure you're not getting ripped off. BTW it would be a lot cheaper to buy your mom a bottle of juice and let her refill cartridges than to buy the prefilled.

I would recommend a disposable as well, especially if its so infrequently that you'll use it, refilling tanks is definitely cheaper than prefilled but would possibly mean needing a different battery, they make tanks that fit the smaller form factor but the capacity is small, definitely hit up your local vape shop they can be a wealth of information.

Thanks much. Actually I found ECF when I was trying to find out if we could refill them. She lives back in Carolina though and isn't likely to refill them herself...so I refill a bunch for her when I go home. lol. The only 0nic disposables I've seen have been the cheapo ones in Chinatown, I wasn't so sure about them.

Well, Here is my suggestion.

1. $5 : cheap low or zero nic disposable e-cigs from stores. Last about 1/2 of a real cig (despite what it say on the pack).
2. ~$ 50 Cig-A-Like. (ie. Blue ecig start kits). Expansive.
3. ~$25 Ego battery + Head + Juice. Which I would recommend.

Example kit. $19.81 EGO-EVOD 6-in-1 Rechargeable 900mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - double e-cigarette / red + blue / 2.6
Extra heating coils. $1.28 EVOD Electronic Cigarettes Atomizer Heating Core - 2.4
Some 0 nic juice . 112 E-Liquids & E-Solids (Nicotine Content: 0mg/ml) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Order a few small bottles and share with your mom or just to try them.

Thanks for the reccs, gonna hit up one of the local vape shops tomorrow to look around with one of my friends. Do they oft sell 0nic diposables.just to see in person/hold me off while something is shipping. I mean I live in the San Francisco Bay area so I gotta think it's gotta be around here somewhere.. though I said that about grits...:glare:

Cheers

So I've been a lazy bum and have yet to make it to the city. I was in Oakland Chinatown and picked up a greensmartliving low nic kit (they didn't have 0 nic kit we actually jimmied it together) got some 0 nic carts. Waiting for a package for a package from china for one with some empty carts. So far so good, I alternating a bit with the low nic. still ahve one cart still. I have definitely learned 2 things: 1) I now have some sense of understanding of the backlash of smokers/vapers to non/social smokers taking up vaping. I can totally tell the difference from low nic and 0 nic and vaping is so much nicer than smoking so I can see how for some it'd get a potential non-smoker hooked. But for me it's more of the action in response to stress. 2) my boyfriend was not happy about me vaping at first but after a few days, it really has helped with the stress of relearning differential equations, etc. without turning to cigarettes. He hasn't smelled a bit of difference so he's content. so that's the update.

I feel a kindred spirit with cupcake!
I too am a stress smoker and also started in college. After I graduated, I didn't even think about them again until, for some weird reason, when I became pregnant with my 3rd baby. Hubby was in Air Force, we lived in England and I was pregnant the entire 4 years we were there! 3 back to back. I only smoked a half pack when I found out I was pregnant, total shock and we were SO broke!! Ha!
Then, I didn't think about them again until years later during a high stress job. Smoked for a couple years then, til quit that job and landed my dream job at a hospital.
Now, my mentor and woman I worshipped, my Mom-in-law passed away unexpectedly in March, followed by my having to put my 18 yr. old dog down. I'm still in recovery and I wanted to smoke. Bad.
I bought a kit last week out of desperation to stay away from cigs.
Vaping is a god send.
I'm learning, reading and making knowledgable purchases. I just placed my first online order!! Alice in Wonderland's sampler and banana pudding! Hee
So, we all come from different paths, but we all landed here. I'm SO glad I did! My Mom-in-law passed away with COPD and my whole family is still grieving horribly, but together. I want to be there for them to lean on for a long long time. Thanks to all!
