Hi everyone. I quit smoking 4 years ago. Gained 40 lbs and realized I became addicted to food. Lost most of the weight but find myself almost overwhelmingly tempted to overeat due to my addictive personality. My son (a non-smoker) intoduced me to vaping. I liked it and bought a mall e-cig. At first I liked it as it calmed my nerves and gave me back something that I missed so much- a feeling like smoking and it killed the urge to overeat.

3 weeks later and my e-cig experience is disappointing. It is so hit and miss. A few good vapes then it seems the battery dies or something. Very little vapor, very little satisfaction. I read these forums and cleaned the atty, and tried dripping on to the atomizer. Messy, very little vapor...etc.... Every once in a while I get a satifactory hit so I have continued. I bought an Ego this weekend and am waiting for it to arrive.

Do you think the problem I have is the mall e-cig I bought? I want to enjoy the satisfaction that others on this forum are receiving. I use the lowest 8mg nicotine juice and I use the zero nicotine juice. I am sure the juice I have is the lowest quality from China. My son had some 11mg nicotine and a few vapes from his and I got that buzzed feeling. But after a few slow draws the taste turned burnt and the disappointment grabbed me again. He has a mall e-cig too but different then mine.

I am hopeful it is the cheap e-cig I have. Does this sound like it or do you think vaping in general is not for me?

Thanks!

Yes, I do think the problem is with the cheap ecig you bought. I use 24 mg. nicotine because that seems to be the level that keeps me from smoking/craving cigs (analogs). Don't worry about the numbers, you need the level that works for you. I find the 100% PG Chinese juice extremely harsh regardless of nic. level. Other's love it so it's a personal preference.

You'll probably have better luck if you purchase juice from a juice vendor and not where you got your kit. Also pick up some cartomizers.

I tried to quit too and gained 25 lbs and never quit and it took me ages to lose it. I didn't gain an ounce since I started vaping.

It's impossible to say without knowing what the PV is exactly. But, most of the equipment sold in Malls seem to be overpriced & lower quality than the eGo you have in transit.

I'm very sorry for your bad experience. But, you've found a great resource to help you here on ECF. And, yes, my guess would be that you've got a bum setup ... I hope it wasn't too expensive. There's better available, and the eGo will surely be an improvement. :)

Hello and welcome. Swedishfish is right. It is the cheap mall ecig and juice. here is a link to the registered vendors here at ecf. Can you give us some of your requirements so we can help you pick an ecig juice that might work for you? Just ask away, and remember, the is no such thing as a dumb or stupid question.

if you plan on using the atomizers instead of cartomizers, i would get rid of the stock stuffing that comes in the cartridges and replace it with some blue foam (look at petco for marineland foam Rite size U or some vendors sell it already cut). this will help with the wicking of the juice. alternating between both ego's will also help prevent having the atomizers get too hot. the batteries on the ego will last around 6 hours. let us know how we can help once ya get it:)

If it was the size of a cigarette, it is extremely rare for one of those to keep someone happy for more than a month. In some cases 1 day is too long.

And the Chinese juice is harsh and overall not up to the quality of the US juice mixers in my opinion. There are a handful of Chinese PG flavors with some fans including me, mostly tobaccos. Most US juice vendors offer PG/VG blends. Ratios with higher PG are popular for people who want TH - like 70pg/30vg or 80pg/20vg, and some prefer less TH and more visible vapor and like 50/50 or more VG. And some do vape 100% PG or VG, Chinese ot US juices.

I have tried 12 juices, in different nic levels, and still haven't found the perfect one. Ive only been at this for a little over a week though. Hmmm.....twelve juices, 2 Rivas and another battery on the way, 20 cartos, 5 attnys, 15 cartridges, a syringe, a needle, a pipette, two cones, a drip tip, and pretty colored rubber bands..........hmmmmm..........I may have a problem. HAHAHAH!!!

Sounds like me when I started but double that because I was buying for two people. It's let up slightly since then. But not by much.

I lucked out with my juice. I loved the first juice I ordered. Not that it hasn't stopped me from ordering more.

I have a rather large credit at Liberty Flights and I caught myself on there today again. I just left things in my basket for now though and I will let it stay there for at least a........few days. Yep. That's what I'll do. Uh huh. I have 6 juices somewhere with the USPS at the moment. I do love my Riva. I couldn't have quit smoking this long without it. No way!

Thanks!

Could be your liquid or cartridges too, I live in midwest too and took up the e-cig to break a food problem! It is working, I found an e-liquid company I really like who give me %20 off, custom mix my liquids, and I can get 5ml bottle at double flavor strength for under $4. Helps because I whip out the dessert liquids when I have food cravings!

I would definitely lean towards the cig and juice you have not being right, as opposed to vaping itself not being for you.

The first one I tried was from a local smoke shop. I would not say it was "cheap" as I ended up paying as much for it as I eventually did for my M401 starter kit and several juices from My Freedom Smokes when I eventually did it the right way.

When you find the right one for you along with flavors you like and the right nicotine level, I would not be surprised for you to completely change your tune.

Stick with it and find what is right for you... the benefits in the long run in health and savings will be soooooo worth it!

I started with a smaller kr808, it only took about a week until I was disappointed. Went with the eGo and it was a world of difference. I drip now with a ProVari at 4.2-4.5v and make my own juice (blueberry and ry4 are my regular flavors). My biggest problem was getting enough nicotine that I didn't have it hanging out of my mouth all day, but not too much that I got sick. I tend to go between 24-36mg with my juice and I've been about 2 months completely smoke free now.

The eGo should change your mind, lasts much longer. I would even recommend getting a passthrough, the one I have has a mini-usb port on the bottom of the battery so I only every had to carry 1 battery with me. Used a cellphone charger at work and a usb cable connected to my PC at home to keep it charged. It still would last a whole day without a charge.

Did you get the 510 or the tank? The ego is great, but I prefer the tank system because it seems to be less hassle and the vapour production is fantastic.

Try buying a sample pack with a large number of smaller bottles so you can try different flavourings. Generally, I prefer the fruity flavours. Oh, and cola is great, too. Biggest disappointments were with "smoke", "oak", and "vanilla".
