Hello all,

I literally started vaping, oh....45 minutes ago. Predominantly as a smoking cessation tool, but also as an alternative. Smoked two packs a day, marlboro black 100s for the last nine years.

I've been lurking on here for a couple weeks whilst I tried to decide what route to go. I decided to take some of your suggestions and got an itaste mvp 2.0 to start with. For now i'm just using the out of box settings, and it came with an iclear16B tank. I have one bottle of juice(18mg nicotine) that our local shop makes in house(not impressed with the juice, but it was free, and it'll last til i get some shipped to me). Does anyone have any recommendations for premixed juices or other ways to make my vaping experience better? I'd prefer answers that don't involve major hardware upgrades just yet, thanks.

Any suggestions, questions, comments, and concerns are welcome.

In summary,

What up y'all?!

Hey, congrats on moving to vaping and great purchase with MVP! The iClear16 is a fine topper, no need to feel like you have to rush out and upgrade anything right now.

If you are looking for juice suggestions I would point you towards Hangsen/Dekang Desert Ship or Highway. Both are very good basic "cig" type juices and very in expensive. One is like a Marlboro and the other is more like a Winston I guess. You'll get into other stuff pretty quickly but for now stick with what keeps you off as many cigs as possible. Don't beat yourself up if you "dual use" for a while, that's very common. If all goes well you will taper off your cig use and be free of them before you even realize it happened.

Good luck and congrats!

Nope, I promised my wife, daughter and mother that i'm done smoking(primarily catalyzed by family health issues), so no dual use. Thanks though. But the wife was more than ok to let me go buy one since I've been trying unsuccessfully to quit smoking for the last year or so.

Can anyone tell me what the practical benefits of changing the voltage and wattage are? or is that something I just have to play with til I find the sweet spot?

Ok, i just started playing around with it, and I am certain the answer is in the manual, but that is not here with me.

On the bottom of the mvp there are two buttons on the "VV/VW Display", P- referencing number of puffs i'm guessing, what is the U button for?
I do not own a mvp but I think the U is for voltage and the P is for power/watts. You can either use it in Variable Voltage or Variable Wattage

You will get many answers to this. At the end of the day though it is nothing more than a personal preference ie - your sweet spot. Most of the more complex juices really benefit from VV/VW. Increasing or decreasing the volts/watts can change the flvor profile completely. Of course there are way more complex answers and descriptions, but I like to keep things simple when I can.

So, its just a trial and error with each juice than really?

Pretty much. However there are some consistencies with certain flavor profiles. Like fruity juices...I like them at a lower setting because for me at the higher settings they start to take on a candy taste. However you might be the complete opposite.

The button are easy to use once you get used to their function

one press on the P button will give you the number of puffs followed by a number preceeded by the letter P that is the power (watts) reading

one press on the U button will give you the number of puffs followed by a number preceeded by the letter U that is the volts reading

press both buttons together will give you the resistance of the coil you have installed in your topper followed by the charge in volts remaining in the current charge cycle

when you alter the power the installed chip will calculate the required voltage according to Ohms law to suit the installed coil

and vice versa for the U button, whichever button you pressed last will determine what mode the device uses

i.e. you dont need to set both values

Thanks a lot Carolina. Upping the voltage improved this one immensely (caramel and vanilla bean, 18mg nic). Added a bit of that "candy taste". What are some flavors/brands worth trying that are internet available? Any recommendations are welcome

Flavors..well I tend to stick with fruity flavors or something with vanilla in it. Nicoticket has some good juice but a little pricey. I love their Strawnilla, Gravity, and Betelguese. Mt Baker Vapor makes some good juice as well. There are soooo many lol. Right now I am vaping Carolina Cantaloupe from Grand Terrace Vapor...it is still in beta phase though.

to ecf WulfenBlade. So glad you are here and congrats on the decision to give vaping a try. It is the only thing that ever worked for me. I did both for a while but it just got to the point where I loved vaping more than smoking. When I first started out and was trying to find flavors that I wanted to try, I would always check this thread to find good deals.

Congrats. 1 day is a long time lol. When I first converted to vaping I was literally counting the hours.

Also keep in mind that smoking really affects you taste and smell. So as time passes you taste buds will start to heal and juices will have even more flavor then they do now (some in a good way and some in a bad way.)
