Hey guys. I've been on the site for a few days now, researching different units and trying to find which one fits with my lifestyle. I just places an order for the deluxe starter kit for the m4xx model on litecigusa.net so I'm excited to see how this works out. I did this for many reasons, one being I can't afford $8 a pack cigs in Boston now that I'm back at school when I smoke a pack a day. Also, it seems like the health benefits are large and since I'm trying to get back in shape, smoking analogs just is not helping. I did have a couple questions though.

My first being I'm trying to save as much money as possible, and switching to e-cigs in general seems like it'll save me tons of money, but I'm always looking for more ways. Any suggestions as to how to save more money, or to make what I buy last longer? I was thinking of cutting higher mg juices down with PG, but I'm not sure what kind or where to get it.

Also, anyone have tips for using the system, what kinds of products I should stock up on?

Thanks for all the help guys, just reading the forum the past week has really opened my eyes to e-cigs. I've been on analogs for 6 years and it's time to switch. Thx again!

I have a manual 510 I love it. I also cut higher juice down. I get my stuff from ecigsmokestore.com Dawn is awsome she has kits to mix your own and will do custom flavors. I also heard that snus mini's soaked in vg and added flavor also works but only with the 801 I think I'm gonna try it with my 510 Will post after I try maybe a few weeks as I'm strapped for cash also

The M4xx models are a good choice. Litecig has one of the best prices around. I recently placed a bulk order to restock on parts from absolutelyecigs.com. You may wanna check this out if you plan to stock up:

You can get PG and Glycerin at your local pharmacy. I had to get them to order the PG, but they get deliveries every day so it was there the next day. You can also find it at farm supply places (just make sure you either get USP grade or food grade) and online. It's definitely cheaper to buy strong and mix to the level you want. There are a couple of places that will even flavor it extra strong for you so that when you cut it you don't lose flavor. Or you can get flavor drops and add your own to get it right to the taste level that suits you best.

If I am cutting commercial juice I add glycerin because I like the fact that it makes more vapor. I use 25-50% depending on what level juice I have and what I want it to be. I like 12 mg so if I have 18 mg liquid I add 25% glycerin and if I have 24 mg juice I add 50%. I just got some unflavored 48 mg and I've been using about 30% glycerin (25% unflavored 48, 20-25% flavoring, the rest a mix of glycerin and PG) It mainly depends on how thick you want it. Glycerin is thicker than PG so I found it too thick it I used too much of it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but PG gives more of a throat kick, while VG produces more vapor. I think some experimentation will let you figure out what mixture you prefer. Get some Loranns flavorings, and spend an evening or two experimenting like a mad scientist to nail down some recipes that you find tasty. :)

That's what I plan to do, anyway. :D

Plus when you cut the liquid with PG or VG you will lose all the flavor of commercial liquid.

Unless you get one that specifically a double flavor juice.

I kinda like the idea of mixing my own flavors. I can't wait to try my hand at it. Unflavored nic juice, Loranns flavorings, PG, VG, and a crapton of experimentation.

Doing DIY, I agree because you can adjust the flavor. But with commercial, already flavored juice, it just dilutes it to the point that the flavor is hardly there at all, IMO. And I have used the double flavors and I really believe that is just pure hype. I've never found the flavor to be any stronger, at least with the ones I have tried.

I ordered a DIY kit from Dawn at ecigsmokestore.com. I can't believe all that she crams into that box for the price. It's awesome. I can't wait until it arrives.

I'm also scouring the DIY forum for recipes to try. It looks like I've got myself a new hobby.

So if the FDA comes down with the banhammer, I'll be set. I've even learned how to make my own e-juice out of snus. Probably tastes like ..., but I can try to drown it out with other flavors, hehe.

Food grade vegetable glycerin is available in health food stores as well. I bought 16 oz (473 ml) for $8.99 which works out to less than 2 cents per ml. I buy all my e-liquid in the highest strength available and cut it with the VG. The VG is also diluted with water (6 to 1) because it is more viscus than the e-liquid. If the resulting flavor is too weak, a little LorAnn flavoring will help it.

Looks like there are alot of us newbies on here today :D I am copying and pasting links! lol, need more info!! I feel like a spounge hehe:oops:

Angus, I got my DIY, Full of stuff!!! I am getting ready to mix me some choc, hazelnut, and a drop of coffee 8-o Not sure what I'm going to get in the end but sounds like a mocha to me.

As to the pg and vg... I figured I'd make some 50/50, so I took 5 ml of both out of my 20ml bottles and put them in a new bottle. Gonna try that first and see how it works, then them by themselves.

Anyone ever flavor tobacco flavored juice? I got "blended" in 24mg (highest they had) from RMV in a 50 ml bottle. Hope it isn't crap! LMAO

BTW, if you guys haven't bought your DIY stuff yet, DO NOT FORGET A SUPPLY OF EMPTY CARTS!!!!! I did and boy do I regret it now. I have to smoke* oops, vape  this pre-filled $%i@ first. I think it is what is causing most of my probs with my 510!

Sorry for my book lol,
Hugs from Utah, Jamie

For some reason IDK, most commercial juices are PG based. Some people are quite allergic to it. I do get some itching and more of a dry mouth if I vape a lot of PG based liquid. It is not as thick and produces somewhat less vapor than VG. It's been said it is processed by the body as lactic acid which is why some feel more lethargic after switching to vaping. PG vapor has been proven to have an anti-microbial effect. Good to know with flu season coming on. Not sure if this is true of VG or not.

Glycerin or VG has been said to be processed by the body as glucose, which may be why some report feeling nausea after vaping it. It does produce more vapor but affects the taste somewhat - sweet.

Since I have some reaction to PG and have felt some nausea from exclusive use of VG juice (I vape a LOT), I tend to mix up my use. Have not found MY recipes yet, but I cut PG juice with VG and vice versa. Note that most flavorings you find will be PG based.

BTW, I THINK a possible reason that most commercial juice is PG based is that as an artificial sustance it is less likely to deteriorate.

Thanks for all the tips everyone! I am aware of the viscosity of glycerin as I use it in the pharmacy to make liquid compounds all the time lol. I'm more familiar with PEG rather than PG but its very similar. I'm a menthol smoker at heart so I was thinking of getting some non-flavored 48mg, cutting it down to around 12mg with a mix of pg and glycerin and then using menthol crystals since I've heard they are dirt cheap and last a lifetime. Any idea how many crystals go into a batch of say 30ml of e-liquid?
