Looking for Advice

Hey everyone, people here on these forums seem pretty knowledgeable, so I figured this would be a great place to ask all the burning questions I have about e cigs, PVs, or whatever their proper term is : P

I smoked for a few months this year, I've been backed off of it now in order to save money and give my lungs a break. The thing with me smoking is that I smoke because I like the flavor and feel of the smoke. I actually dislike nicotine buzzes. I once joked with my friend "If I could find a cigarette without all the chemicals and no nicotine, I'd be set." (Anyone see where I'm going with this?)

So, with this being said, what products would you guys recommend I try? Keep in mind that I'm heading off to college soon, so I'm pretty much looking for a cheap PV that lets off a analog sized cloud of vapor. Like I said, I enjoy the look of smoke from cigs, and the feel/taste. E cigs seem like a great alternative.

And now for my last point: Even when I'm smoking "heavily" (heavy for my standards lol) a pack still lasts me a week. Is vaping something that's even going to save me money? It seems that startup costs are pretty steep.

So I'm looking for:

-cheap PV with decent vapor cloud size
-good flavor
-looks something like a real cig, if possible

Thanks in advance to anyone who has any advice, answers are greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum fallofshadows. There are some here that would tell you to quit now while you can and judge you for wanting to vape when you don't even need the nicotine. I'm not one of them, I understand the allure of the hand to mouth experience so with that said. ...
I would recommend Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. for the Joye510 cheap "nobox" kit with 2 complete e-cigs. This model gives great vapor and decent flavor. My fav is the DSE901 at DSE901 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail
for 26.99, many agree it gives the best flavor. e-liquid flavors are all relative to each user however and you may find you prefer something other than tobacco flavors. You just need to try several sample sizes until you find what you like. My fav shop for liquid is DIY Flavor Shack by E-Cig Smoke Store and All Juice. Good luck and I'm glad you found us. Read, read, read!

Thanks for being so understanding! I guess I didn't take time to think of how many people are using PVs as a way to quit smoking... I guess I've been blessed in that nicotine has never been the allure of smoking for me. I AM very excited to hear the stories of others on this forum though. Both of my parents smoke, my grandfather died last year of lung cancer... I understand the allure of smoking now, but it looks to me like e cigs are a great alternative.

Get ready for a whole barrage of varying responses.

Being such a light smoker I would say the best(read: cheapest) way to get started would be to try a disposable unit and see what you think.

Personally I prefer the 510 atty so would recommend trying a : Disposable 510 Vaporizer

However if you really want something that looks like a real cigarette, many do when they first start but then quickly change their minds, you may also want to check out the FREEDOM 1 DISPOSABLE - MFS Inc. and use his coupon code (For ECF discount 40% off hardware use coupon code smoke) which makes it only $5.97.

Either way I'd suggest picking up a bottle of zero nic liquid in a flavor that you think would appeal to you and then see where you go from there.

Welcome to ECF and good luck in finding what will work right for you. :smokie:

Pilot truck stops in my area sell the Njoy starter kits and throw aways good for 300 puffs as they say. Always wanted to try but did not want to shell out the cash so when i saw this had to try it.
Have also seen in acouple of local gas stations the eco cig 500 puff which was my first one not bad vapor but very fake taste since i started am down to 1/4 pack from 1+ packs.

Wow, I had no idea they made disposable ones like this. This def seems idea for testing out PVs.

Is there stuff only sold online, or is there a chance of finding it in a store near me? I find store shopping so much more convenient, I'm not an overly patient person : P

If you look in some convience stores or mall kiosks, you can find the "el cheapo" devices for premium prices or even some good devices at outlandish prices.

I would suggest you research the atomizer style (510, 901, etc... I personally like 510) and decide on that first. From there, you decide on whether you want a pen style, box style, etc... (I personally like the pen style, my Riva looks almost like a small cigar, but battery life compared to my cigarette style is 6-10 hours vs 30 minutes). After you decide those 2 things, look around for your supplier, read the reviews and check and double check prices and stock levels (I found my Riva for 15 bucks less than I paid for it, but they never had it in stock so didn't get the sale).

Same goes with Juices. decide on whether you want cigarette/tobacco flavor or something else. Read the reviews and see what vendors get the highest marks for the flavors you want.

As you can tell from my signature, I'm a HUGE fan of vaporbomb.com. The people there are awesome and I've only found one flavor they didn't hit right on (amaretto, but it's much better with just a tad of vanilla, some sweetner and cream flavors added). Also, when I compare their liquids to others I've bought, I don't see a lot of artificial coloring, no chemically/mediciney smell from some of the flavors (my mom said another vendor's watermelon smelled like bad medicine even though it still tastes good) and they are one of the few liquid vendors I've found that you can get 100% VG (tons of smoke) to 100% PG (nice throat hit) or anywhere between in 20% increments.

I would like to add one thing to these really good suggestions: the flavor, performance, vapor-production, and even the way they feel in your throat can vary quite a bit from one product to the next (I mean both the hardware and the liquid). Just something to keep in mind, if your first experience is less than you hoped it would be.

I started with a disposable KR808-D1 clone that I found at a gas station for $10. Flavor was awful, so I bought some ejuice and woah huge difference.

I would suggest a KR808-D1 because:

A) They are simple two piece units

B) Cheap

C) Easily Refillable

D) Hold a lot of liquid

E) Come in models that look like regular cigarettes

F) Are a good place to start.

Hope that helps.

Looking like a cigarette is actually a bad thing. There are places where you can stealth vape, but not with a brown filter ecig.

The Cignot Joye 510 $35 starter kit is a good inexpensive way to get into vaping, and the atomizer and carts are compatible with the Ego if you decide vaping is for you. I still use my 510 around the house and keep different flavors in the Ego and 510.

My take on a pack a week habit is to quit now and forget about smoking. You will definitely increase the amount you smoke and one day you will be 30 years out and smoking 2 packs a day. If you want to vape, though, the 510 is a good place to start.

I'm from Hanover PA, where Utz potato chips come from : P

I'll have to keep my eyes open for a location near me. Worst comes to worst, I'll just order online. I dislike shipping charges, but oh well.

I'm in York and I haven't seen anything local, but I haven't really looked because I buy everything online. Really it would be better to order online and it doesn't take that long to get. Good prophets is between York & Lancaster, I buy lots of stuff there. Shipping is cheap and it takes usually only a day or two to get it. Here's a link to their 510 kit:

Joye 510 Kit

And, we're having a PA vaper's meetup on July 31st in Hazleton. I would encourage you to attend if you can! There will be raffle prizes and lots of goodies there:
