Hi everyone. I am a pack a day smoker (or used to be) and wanted to try vaping to stop smoking analogs altogether. I just started vaping yesterday and am also a new member here. Here's a brief description of my initial experience.

On Frday12/7 I ordered the Ego Passthrough starter kit from gotvapes.com (http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=179&products_id=853 ) together with a 3 pack juice sampler. Received the package (priority mail) yesterday Monday 12/10. Needless to say, I was very happy with my purchase at gotvapes.com and their prompt shipment. This starter kit includes a 1,000mah ego passthrough batt, two Vision Stardust clearomizers, some ejuice, and a few other items.

I started vaping yesterday (Monday) as soon as I received the package and am very happy to report this has worked very well for me. It has been over 24 hrs since I had my last analog cigarette and with very little, if any, anxiety, urges, etc. If I feel like smoking I vape and IT WORKS!! I am happy with the Visio Stardusts and the 1000mah Ego passthrough batt, at least for now, lol. I am planning to buy a Spinner batt to try different voltages, more Stardusts and more ejuice samplers.

I found there are two types of Stardusts available at at gotvapes.com with different resistances: 2.1-2.4 and 2.5-2.9 ohms. I could not find on the gotvapes.com site which resistance I got with the starter kit, which I like.

Does anyone happen to know which resistance Stardusts are included in this starter kit? I would ask in the supplier forum but I haven't posted my 4 posts here yet :)

Do you guys think the new repairable version of the Stardust (Version 3?) is better?

Last but not least, which resistance would work better at the standard 3.7 volts, 2.1-2.4 or 2.5-2.9?

Cheers and glad to be here!

Welcome to the ECF, orbach!

In all likelyhood, the Stardust in the kit is the lower resistance 2.1-2.4 ohm but, if you drop them a quick email at GV, they will probably get right back to you with confirmation on that. The lower resistance will usually work better with the single voltage 3.7 volt devices though it depends somewhat on the juice (all juices are a little different). Also thicker juices tend to burn more easily and may work better at a higher resistance or lower voltage/wattage.

If you go for a variable voltage device like the Twist, I'd lean toward the 2.5-2.9 heads as that gives you the widest power range to dial in using the VV.

For me, the rebuildable Stardusts have performed the same as the non-rebuildables and have the advantage of easier cleaning and, of course, the replaceable (and rebuildable, if you like) heads.

Thanks for the quick responses! I am definitely going for a VV battery. I hear the Vision Spinner is a new improved version of the twist, is this correct? And yes, I probably order both resistances, or better yet, the replaceable head Stardusts which offer 3 resistances. I have to watch my $$ as I can already tell I could spend a few hundred dollars just trying stuff out, lol!! New toys just in time for Xmas!

I probably order both resistances
Probably a good idea. Some people learn that they prefer a "cooler" vape, some people find that they prefer a "warmer" vape. The lower the ohm number (known as low resistance), the warmer the vape. The higher the ohm number (known as high resistance), the cooler the vape. The preference between warm and cool is totally subjective, and the preference for one or the other can change depending upon the juice carrying device you choose to put on your battery.

Ordering the Stardust replaceable with additional heads to cover all available resistances of 1.8, 2.4, and 2.8 and see which one I like most. Ordering the SMOKtech Regular 510 Wide-bridge Atomizer - 2.5 ohm and drip tip for tasting juices, the VISION Spinner Variable Voltage eGo 3.3-4.8v 900mah, and another 6ml 3 pack sampler of ejuice.

Just tried cleaning one of the Vision Stardust 1.6ml clearomizers and somehow it sprung a leak. After cleaning and burning a bit, not much at all, I added a new juice and the thing started to leak apparently from the air vent where it connects to the battery. At first I thought maybe it was just some juice in the air vent, since I had overfilled the tank up to the silicon cover over the coils, but it continued to leak until the level in the tank went down to about the 0.8ml mark. At this point it stopped leaking. I blotted the leaked juice dry, plugged the tip in and installed it on the battery. Checked after every vape to make sure it wasn't leaking and it never leaked again and worked well. The only thing I did while it leaked was to tap it gently on a paper towel and blot it occasionally to check for leaks.

The only thing I can think of is that I blew into the tank pretty hard to blow out the vent tube after rinsing it with water. never took off the silicon cap over the coils, just added water half way and shook it. The poured the water out and repeated about 6-7 times. Finally, I blew into the tank without the tip on. I wonder if I should have screwed on the tip before blowing?

Has anyone experienced this? Why would it stop leaking on its own and then continue to work as if nothing had happened? lol, newbie here is mystified.

One thing that I experienced when I was still using clearomizers a few months ago is that clearomizers were pretty finicky and hit-or-miss. I had some that were dead on arrival, some that would work a couple days and either start leaking or stop producing vapor, and some that would last nearly a month.

I've read not to turn a clearo upside down or lay them on their side - keep them upright. There also is a little 0-ring (white, black, or clear) that is attached underneath the mouthpiece on the inner side that can easily get lost when the mouthpiece is removed for filling or cleaning - take care not to lose it as it has something to do to keep the clearo from leaking.

I was aware of the o-rings and made sure I didn't lose them, it never came off. I thought maybe the joint where the plastic tube installs on the threads/battery contacts had come lose so I kept pushing it down against the table surface, but why would it leak inside the threads, as if leaking from the vent tube? Or maybe the vent tube came loose and it stopped leaking because I screwed on the mouthpiece and then the battery, compressing the assembly. I don't quite remember the exact sequence of events. Next time I will install the mouthpiece before blowing out the vent tube, and screw on the battery too before adding liquid. The mouthpiece pushes down on that silicon cap over the coils and may have done something to fix the leak.

OK I revised my order. While looking at the vivi Nova, I found the GotVapes Spitfire tank ( http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1198 ). Looks like a good idea and the reviews seem very good. Instead of the Spinner battery I'm ordering the SLB eGo-V True VV Pass Through eGo 3.0-6.0v battery ( http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1232 ). Also a box of the GotVapes PHOENiX REBORN Bottom Coil XL 1.5ml Carto 2.4-2.6ohms ( http://www.gotvapes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=742 ) to try new juices with.

Thank you all for your suggestions!
