Hey forum, I first wants to say thanks for all the info I've gathered from this site it's been super helpful as I'm rather new.

I had been a pack a day menthol smoker for almost five years until 2-3 weeks ago when I decide to finally give vaping a try. I was dumb and went to a cigar/tobacco store for my first vaporizer. I found out it was a cheep Chinese knock off of an ego c.
Per the recommendation of a friend I went to a Vapor specific shop and walked out much happier. They set me up with a pair of Kanger Evod BCCs, which the shop drilled larger air intake holes into, and some 24mg NicQuid Southern Freeze.
For the first week it was absolutely delicious. I liked the flavor and the feel, iirc, and it lasted me quite a while.
But as of yesterday the vapor has been really harsh. I'm getting a lot of popping noises and some gurgling. I changed the atomizer last night, rinsed out the clearomizer, wiped down all the connections and let it dry over night. I re assembled and filled it this morning and there's been no change. Still harsh vapor and muted flavors.
I'm not certain on the volts in my batter nor the resistance in my atomizers.
Does any one have any ideas as to how to remedy this?
Thanks again.

The poping and crackling is sorta normal, but too much is probably not good, glad you got some good stuff. BTW: Both Kanger and Joyetech (the manufactures of the original eGo) are both Chinese companies, so the Chinese do make some good products. You say you bought Evods, are you still using the same batteries or are you using Evod batteries? Don't beat yourself up or call yourself "dumb", you did what you thought was best. Quitting is a triumph no matter how it happens. How many extra heads/coils do you have?

Curious idea to drill larger holes in an evod. I would be looking for the opposite myself.

However, that shouldn't mess the taste etc. With a new head in it, it should vape nicely enough. Did you give it plenty of time to let the liquid soak up?

Could you work out how to pull the centre pole out (pliers job) and look at the wick?

The state of the wick can reveal a lot. I suspect you may have used it with a dry wick and sometimes that can be bad news. I just took apart a evod-type head and it was all burned from the wick drying out. I have dry-burned it......we'll see if it is salvageable.

I wouldn't think either batteries would be causing the issue, its something going on with the Evods clearos. I'm not real familiar with using them although I have a couple but don't use them because they require an adaptor. I prefer using the 510 threaded clearos as all of my battery devices are 510. You might go to YouTube and do a search for Kanger Evod and look for any tips on their use.

I am using the original battery that came with it. I believe it's the 600mAh since it was the shorter of the two options they had.
I have 2 heads left.
I didn't know one way or the other at the time, the guy at B&m store offered it and it seemed to make a reasonable amount of sense. From what I have read since the holes can get clogged occasionally and I have yet to have that issue.
I will take a look at YouTube once I get a chance.

Thank you all for your awesomely quick replies.

Well if it sounds like your cooking bacon then your doing it right. If it sounds like your boiling water in a coffee can then your coil is flooding. Pull it out and run it under hot water. Blow through the top of the coil to clear some water out, then wash it again. Repete this process about 3-4 times.
Then you need to do a dry burn. Screw the coil into the base (but DO NOT screw the base into the tank) then screw the base onto your battery. press the button for about 3 seconds and listen to hear the coil sizzle (like bacon again) then take your finger off the button for 3 seconds. Repete this until you stop hearing the sizzle. It's just like popping popcorn in the microwave. Your coil and wick should be dry.
Now screw the coil and base onto your tank. Do a couple of quick draws on it WITHOUT touching the fire button. Then let it sit for a couple of minutes to soak the wicks. Then you can start hot hitting it. It may take a few hits until you get some vapor out of it so just mouth hit it (don't inhale, just draw the vapor into your mouth) until it starts putting out some vapor. It's kind of like priming it. Then you should be good to go.

If your still flooding then you need to check your seals. They are small and can get lost very easy. Trust me, I know this from personal experance.

Never inhale on the first hit from a new coil. The coils need to burn off a thin layer of stuff from their manufacturing so that first hit is really harsh. I learned this from experance too.

Just from my personal stand point. I always do the coil rinsing when I switch flavors. It seems to be making my coils last alot longer then most other peoples.

Muiting flavors might be because your not changing your flavors enough. Your taste buds could be getting use to the flavors your vaping. I get this as well. So I change my flavores after the second tank full (I run Minis so it's about 2ml). Plus I have around 10 different flavors to choose from now so I'll just reach for something else. You'd be suprised how a flavor that seems muited this week will pop in two weeks after you vape a few other flavors.

But welcome to vaping, and congrats for turning your back on the "coffin nails". Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for this. It's hitting like brand new. I'll swap out for a different flavor when I get out of work but this made a huge difference!

Glad I could help.
Don't worry, you'll soon get the hang of all this new fangled stuff and be helping others figure it out here on the threads real soon.

Good Luck!

Yeah, no matter how you start its fine. Making a choice to quit smoking is in itself a very intelligent move so I will not have you call yourself dumb or put yerself down because you had limited experience/knowledge. It's all a learning process.
