Hello,

IT professional currently on a contract in Afghanistan. Smoked for years, wife and I quit when she got pregnant, then I got here. I'm not smoking nearly as much as I did, but want to stop. So, vaping?

I'm still trying to figure this stuff out. I've learned a lot in the last few hours. When I was searching, I realized a lot of the review sites looked extremely questionable. Maybe the brands truly are good, but typically you'll get more accurate opinions from a community.

A few pointers would be appreciated. I'll continue reading around in the meantime, but suggestions will help me start sooner!

Traits I'm looking for:
- good performance in a medium size
- premium materials -- glass or metal instead of plastic
- HIGH durability: mail takes 2-3 weeks to get here! Of course I will keep suggested backup parts, but I'd rather pay more to not need to
- any parts that can be easily cleaned/repaired instead of trashed
- a throat hit and draw close to a cig

And whatever other suggestions you have.

Now I'll continue my research...

Any ego style battery should fit your medium size quantifier.
As for tanks and durability in that size I would recommend an Aspire ET-S BDC Glass version. The glass is shielded by a metal cover. The draw might be a little tight, but the dual coils produce a really good vapor. At 3 mg nicotine I feel a better throat hit on the ET-S over the Mini Protank 2.

LOL :)

How right you are. Many reviews are bogus. There is a big review site in the UK that lists one brand as 9.5 stars.
On the independent review site, there are over 100 of the worst reviews I've ever read for the same brand.

Good luck.

(I'd get an Innokin MVP and some mini Protanks....)

Thanks everyone!

I'm going to look at the MVP and Protanks now...

I am liking these so far:
SmokTech SID
Sigelei Zmax v5
Vamo v5

I really liked the Joyetech eVic... I'm a geek so the computer stuff seemed pretty cool, although I'm not sure how useful. I like how it looks and how you control it. But I found a few reviews saying they aren't too reliable?

LOL. :)

I really liked my EVIC until it died. The warranty is not worth the paper it's written on.

Great first device is the Innokin VV v3. Strong device, decent vape time, works as a pass through plugged in to a USB port and has most all the bells and whistles you need. Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape Pick up a Protank II and a Kanger T2 to try both top and bottom coil toppers and see which works for you.

Welcome,
You are in the right place, you never have to smoke another cigarette again!

If you're looking for a good device and topper that will hold up well in tough conditions, I think you should take a serious look at the Reos. They are a simple mech device and the reomizers for them are easy to build. Tough little units that work well and provide a good vape. There's very little in them to go wrong. I have 3 LP Grand's with the LP RM's and love them. They hold a 6ml bottle that you squonk :) to get the juice into the atty. The nice thing about them if you're in the field you can throw an extra bottle of juice and a battery or 2 and you're good for the day without taking up a lot of space. Check out the Reo forum in the supplier section. A lot of great people and advice there.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Currently I'm deciding between the SmokTech SID, Sigelei Zmax V5, and the Vamo V5.
