New to Vaping. Need help with RDA Basics

Wow. That's some good albeit intensive knowledge, esp for a batt and vape noob like me.

Here's the advertised specs of the 18650 batts I've gotten:

Nominal Capacity: 3350 mAh
Typical Capacity: 3250 mAh
Minimum Capacity: 3250 mAh
Nominal Voltage 3.6 V
Internal Impednce 32mohm
Discharge Cut-off Voltage 3.0 V

From what I gathered from reading the above, the lowest resistance I can go is 0.4 ohm, right? If I have 2 x 0.4 ohm (parallel) coils, that'd raise the resistance to 0.8 ohm?

Those batteries are garbage. Very dangerous for any mod.
You need high discharge batteries like Samsung 25R, Sony VTC series, LG HE2, LG HE4.

Check @Baditude and @Mooch 's blogs when talking batteries and suggestions of where to get them. Like @DaveSignal posted, Samsung 25R, LG HE2 or HE4s minimum, Sony VTC3 or VTC4 as well as the LG HB6 for the best though. RTDVapor, Illumn Supply would be good places to look first. That battery you posted is way to low specced for vaping with. You need at least at minimum a 20 amp continuous discharge rate battery, the battery you posted is maybe 2 possibly 3amp CDR with a 6amp pulse burst rating, subohm would pop that battery like a fire cracker first firing.

Ditch those batteries! They are NOT suitable for vaping. Go back and read some of the link I posted by @Baditude & @Mooch regarding batteries.

No. Coils in parallel cut the resistance in half. 2 x 0.4Ω coils = 0.2Ω build.
If you wanted a 0.4Ω build with 2 coils in parallel you would need to build 2 x 0.8Ω coils.

I've used those in older regulated mods like my SVD 1.0's and Vamo's, still have them as backups if I need them in SVD2.0 in a pinch, but I'd cancel that order and get some better batteries as the Sony, Samsung, or LG ones listed, and can generally find them on like at RTDVapor and Illumn in pairs for less that $15 for the pair. Rule 1, never skimp on cheaper batteries for vaping, can skimp on a clone of a mod, but never batteries, as Lithium batteries have so much stored potential power, they get to hot they can violently react in an explosion or spew a hot, high velocity jet (hand grenade or bottle rocket near your face????)

No, you got the wrong thing. Look at the links in Susan's post on the previous page. Or just get one of the batteries already mentioned. You really have to be into this whole vaping thing if you are using mechs and RDAs. It really has to be something that you enjoy reading about, enjoy cleaning and maintaining, enjoy building and testing coil resistances. Its more of a hobby at this level. If you don't really think its worthwhile to learn ohms law and the mod circuitry and the battery basics, then its possible that you are not going to be successful with these advanced devices.

In a flashlight, they're great. For your use, they are no good.
They're just not meant for use above a few amps, at most.

Do not vape with them!

Ok. I've cancelled the order of the Panasonic batteries and ordered some Sony VTC4. Model: US18650VTC4. Is this the right one?.

So let me recap what I've learnt from the vets here today:

For beginner RDA, I should start with a safer resistance. If I use a mechanical mod with the Sony VTC4 with 30A CDR, my safe zone is 0.28ohm or more so my current is no more than 15A. Am I on track?

Yes, that is the right battery. And I would shoot for closer to .5 ohms until you get the hang of it.

Ok. I'd be careful. Maybe I should also get myself a Vamo to enjoy while I experiment with coil building and mech.

Is there any good variable voltage MOD that has similar sandblasted finishing to the Russian 91%?

Also any recommendation of a small tank RTA that doesn't leak? I've ordered a few clones (incl. a Short Russian) to play with.
