Hello I am vary new to this concept, I wanted to start vaping as a compromise between me and my non-smoking wife. When I started out I had tried a few brands from places that let you try out their stock at tattoo conventions and such. When I finally decided to invest I needed something cheap but effective. So after some research I went with e-cig.com's E9, I do enjoy the vapor and two batteries alternately charging give me a days worth of vaping. my problem is all this info in review like people say i find it best vaping this e-juice at 5 volts. what on gods green earth dose that mean, I want to get the best vaping experience possible and I'm looking at e-juice now because I like my E9 for now anyway but the pre-filled cartomizers came with marb flavor and its nasty to say the least. As such I am still smoking analogs I'm down from about a pack a day to about 5 a day and I smoke rollies so its an estimate. I am trying to figure out what is the best way to go. The manufacturer of the E9 says its compatible in all parts to the greensmoke and smoke51 products. if that helps. so what is the question here, can anyone help me to figure out what the specs are for what I'm using so it will make more since when I read the reviews.

Welcome Bigbear, your in the right place:)

I understand where your coming from..it seems mind bogglin at first..lol.
Don't worry about that,we were all in the same boat but it will become clearer:D

A great place to start is the ecf library. That really helped me in the beginning.

The two most popular starting options here imo are the vapor4life 8081-d system or the joye 510 system. Check those out and stick with it...its life changing!

Good luck:thumbs:

I'm sure someone will be able to answer which model is compatible with yours. As for 5v, that refers to a mod such as the GLV2 (greater lake vapor), Saber Touch and some others. Just check for their subforums at the bottom of the main page to learn more about them. They regulate to 5 volts which gives you incredible amounts of vapor. Keep reading and you will learn it in no time.

BTW, welcome to ECF and vaping. Ask all the questions you want, good people on here will answer them.

    Hi BigBear

I started with the Greensmoke and I'm not sure if I would have been able to quit analogues without it. Now I never use it, except to introduce vaping to people who have never tried it before. Their Marl flavor was rank though. I liked regular tobacco and Menthol flavors -at 16mg - all the rest were a little weak tasting IMO.

5V vaping is/was generally considered the sweet spot for vapor, flavor and throat hit, but now there are some really good low resistance (LR) atomizers out there that give just about the same experience as 5V. I have a 5v device, the GGTS, which takes just about any battery combination so you can vape at any voltage up to 7.4, but most of the time I use it at a standard 3.7v with an LR atty because it's just about the same as 5V vaping, but with longer battery life and no danger of exploding batteries.

You can spend a fortune on vaping, looking for that ultimate vaping experience. I did too, and my journey ended with the GGTS. If you find that starts happening to you, give the GGTS a good look, but an ego/riva/tornado battery and LR 510 atty is almost as good (and a whole lot cheaper).

Hope you found this post helpful and not just more confusing...

thanks everyone for your help I am reading as much as I can. There is alot to take in, One thing I would as is dose anyone know any good guides ether on this forum or another that would be more for 2 piece vaping. I don't really have the money to invest in another model right now so I would like to get advice to make my device work the best for now. And I have found that almost everything I have seen or read is based on the three piece models.

The reason you don't find many "guides" for how to improve the performance of a 2-piece system is because there aren't a whole lot of things you can do.

Having said that, there are some choices...

    1) You could get low resistance (LR) cartomizers
    2) You can buy more powerful batteries
    3) You can remove the filler material inside your cartomizer and drip

I will go look around and see if I can find out what is compatible with what you have...

First thank you I will read what you found. Second I wasn't just meaning tips and tricks per say. Just more general information on on the two piece, see with all the info I am finding its all about the 3 piece. But most of the reviews I read say the two piece is better that's why I went with it instead of a three piece. I'm starting to regret that decision but at the same time atomizers are expensive. I would even be happy is I could find some information about one vs the other

If the setup you have doesn't satisfy, you will will probably spend a whole load of cash trying to improve it before accepting that you bought the wrong setup and investing in a new one.

Have a look the cost of several packs of cartos, vs the price of one ego/riva/tornado battery (all the same thing), one fast USB charge lead, one LR atty and a small bottle of RY4 liquid. An ego/riva/tornado battery can be used with cartos and with any atty with the right adapter. I like BE112 attys because they are closest to a roll-up hit IMO, but the most popular and safest bet is a 510.

If an ego battery and LR atty doesn't satisfy, then the only place to go IMO is a battery mod, like the Little Gem or the GGTS. This is the shortest and cheapest route IMO.

If you think e-cigs might be right for you, you will probably buy every kind of atomizer eventually. Better to do this sooner rather than later, so you find out what is right for you early on. Once you find the one you like, stick with it.

I have spent a ton of cash trying to save money on e-cigs. Sometimes it's better just to bite the bullet. It's pricey to begin with, but once you find the setup that is right for you there is no looking back. It is so much better than smoking in every way.

atomizers aren't exactly cheap but from what i read..their lifetime depends on how you vape. Joye recommends not to vape for more than 5 seconds at a time on their 510's and eGo's (im sure the same with totally wicked and janty seeing as they're the same product) to ensure optimal operation of your atomizer without burning it out. Either way...an atomizer can last you 1 day if you're unlucky and up to 6mo's if you're lucky. So if you go the 3 piece route, it doesn't hurt to have a few extra on hand in case it happens. But for the cost of the 3 piece units vs something like greensmoke- its definately more affordable to find a 3 piece unit. for a greensmoke and 1 pack of 5 cartridges it was about $139 + shipping. at another website i ordered a joye eGo starter kit, 4 30 ml bottles of 24mg e-juice, and 3 extra atomizers for around $124 dollars. 4 30ml bottles...or...5 1 time use little cartridges? For me it was a no brainer...not to mention all the positive reviews on youtube and these forums about joye/jandy/tornado products. Those namebrand companies MAY seeeem convienient but from what I've seen on youtube they produce not enough vapor, some have incredibly ridiculous cut off times (ie battery turns off and you're only puffing air until you puff again). I say try something from a more recommended company that produces more vapor and see how it does for you. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST. Youtube is very very helpful on this topic. But, I wouldn't make the e9 or something like greensmoke the exerpience that makes up your mind personally.

    Just my opinion.

I'm biased, because I quit in one day thanks to the kit I ordered, and because I feel like I've got the best of both worlds - the satisfaction of an analog with all the benefits of vaping.

With that in mind, I'd say to give an ego/riva/tornado a try. There are a million vendors selling them at more or less the same price (generally somewhere around 70 for the two ego kit) so I'd pick (or recommend) one that has a good track record for customer service.

Basically, it "sounds" a little more complicated, but couldn't be simpler. I take off the cartridge (mouthpiece), drip 3 drops, and I'm puffing away for about 30 minutes, depending on the juice and how much I'm puffing. I use freedomsmokeusa.com for juice (they do have an ego kit, also at right around $70) and along with just about everyone else have learned to love their RY4 flavor (a kind of tobacco flavor that is so much more) but pretty much every wacky flavor I've tried, I've liked. I love pina colada in the afternoon, spearmint at night...

For you, this actually might be the best setup for now (I have a sense you'll be a mod guy down the line) precisely because you rolled your own in the past. The dripping method with an ego gives you that "fiddly" feeling - you're fiddling with your stuff, getting it right, then getting your nic. It might help feed all parts of the addiction, which is why vaping works so well in the first place, IMO.

I can't stress this enough - don't be shy about buying a bottle or two of something with a 30 or 36mg nic. Most of my juice is 24mg, but sometimes only the TH and knowledge of a higher nic level will do.

Good luck - everyone kept telling me about the learning curve when I started, and it can be a pain, but with the right rig it's been relatively painless for me.

ETA: If you do go this route, get a manual battery - it seems less intuitive, but it's 2nd nature in a heartbeat.

Really? That advice makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I take big long 8 second drags, and keep the button pressed the whole time.
    My atomizers last absolutely forever.

In fact, the best maintenance I can do for them is give them a nice dry burn every now and then.
And that is keeping the button pressed for well over 15 seconds at a time.

Cleans them right up and makes them just like new again.

P.S. for another £10 ($15) you could also have 801 and 901 atomizers and adapters to fit them to the tornado battery.

    So you would have a 510 / 801 / 901 e-cig with a 5 hour battery that charges in 90 minutes for $40.

Oh, and you can get cartos for a Toranado battery as well, so it can also work as a 2-piece.

Don't wait too long if you are here in the UK because their sale ends in a few weeks...

In the meantime keep your batteries well charged, and use one or two primer puffs to heat up the carto before you take your draw. You might also get a little more vapor if you top up the cartos with VG, but you could kill one or two while you figure out how to do it just right.

I think that is the best you will get without modifying the cartos. I haven't used them for a while so someone else might be able to help you more.

    Good luck!
