New to vaping

Hello to all. I'm new to vaping but seems it is really working for me as far as controlling my analog habit. I know I've dropped one habit for another. I just hope and pray these e-cigs are mostly harmless. I haven't had an analog in about 3 weeks. Total miracle for me after 25 years of 1 to 1.5 packs a day. I've noticed a difference in energy level, smell, taste, but not much in breathing yet. Still have the morning cough too. Guess this is normal since I'm still filling my lungs with vapor? Not sure. Or maybe its possible my lungs are trying to clean themselves? I do find myself vaping like crazy sitting at my computer. Somedays I think if I could hook up a hose and turn it wide open on max vap I'd be perfectly content. Not sure if this a good thing or not either but hoping to slow this down later as I trudge along the no analog road.

Anyway, wanted to say hello to everyone and very very nice and informative forum here.

Hi Spriddle and welcome to ECF. Glad to hear that vaping is keeping the analogs at bay for ya. Regarding the safety of ecigs vs. analogs let me put it this way. No, vaping probably isn't "good for you" or "harmless". You are still introducing nicotine into your body and nicotine is still known to be an addictive substance. But, you have eliminated all the additives that are in analogs (some of which are more addictive than the nicotine), you have eliminated combustion, tar, and serious state and federal taxation. Are they harmless or even as you put it "mostly harmless"....well probably not....but are they a better alternative to smoking? While the hardcore medical research isn't there yet, the practical experiences of HUNDREDS of people I have read about on ECF, all saying how much better they feel, how much better their lungs work, their noses works, their tastebuds work....all those people who tried for years to quit and couldn't till vaping came along....well, i don't see how that many people can all be wrong. So i know, for me anyway, its a no brainer

Hello your post really hits home with me. A lot of the same hopes and fears. I started ecigs in early August. Totally analog free 6 weeks now. I have been reading this forum for months but just registered today and this is my first post! I'm looking forward to asking some direct questions in regards to mods. I currently am using an ego have joye 510 and kr808? But have not used them much since getting a riva. I much prefer the joye/janty ego to the riva. Higher quality all around.

Thanks guys. Continuing my journey everyday and hoping it lasts. Stay positive and true! I want to get back to being able to exercise again without feeling like crap. I've always been active but the last few years I can tell the analogs have really started to take a toll and I've almost completely stopped any exercise. Mentally frustrating as well because I just don't feel like doing any exercising. Anyway, gotta get somewhat active again.

Oh, by the way, I'm using the Joye 510. Really like it. Vaps really good which I think is very important if trying to give up the analogs. At least for me anyway. I do still have 2 and a half packs of analogs I just can't seem to throw out yet. I keep telling myself, throw them away and be done with it but half of me still likes looking at the unused pack in the garage just sitting there collecting dust.

Congrats on your success, I am a chain vaper and I don't worry about it at all. It is a lot better then the 2 packs of cigs a day that I used to smoke. I have been carrying around an almost full pack of cigarettes in my purse for almost 3 months now and I intend on keeping them there, they are there so I know that I don't need them anymore. It is my power over them since vaping replaced them.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Vaping seems to be a bit drier than smoking. If you are vaping a lot more than you smoked, consider trying a lower nicotine level. I know the last think I wanted to do was increase my dependence on nicotine. And if you are vaping pure PG, maybe try some PG/VG base ejuices. I like 70pg/30vg (like Backwoods Brew). I bought pure PG to start off because it's what my PV vendor had, but it was sort of rough on my tongue and throat. PG/VG mix is a bit smoother.

Hey Spriddle! Welcome and thanks for mentioning exercising. I need the reminder, because I've been trying to talk myself into getting back on the treadmill. Back in 2007, I quit smoking for 7 months using Chantix, and after the first 2 months, I bought an expensive treadmill and forced myself to walk on it for 35 minutes six days a week, getting up to inclines of 15 and speeds of 6mph. After 4 1/2 months of doing that, I felt so much better! Then I started smoking again on the day that tax clients started calling at the beginning of tax season, and by the end of May, I was smoking a pack a day again and not walking on the treadmill much.

So, now that I've quit smoking again (since 09/17), it's time to get back on the treadmill. I remember in 2007, there were days I had to force myself to get off this damm computer and just go do it. Once I started walking, I was okay. So, force yourself if you have to, and I'll try to do the same!

I still have eight packs of Merits in a drawer that I couldn't care less about. I'm happy for that!

Good idea on the fluids. I know I'm vaping more and got to be dumping more nicotine into my system. I am starting to alternate between the 18mg (I started with) to 11mg. Do you have some good links to some good e-juice sources you posted about? I'm really not sure what the mix is on my e-juice but I'll find out. I order all my supplies from Route 66 Vapor. Seems like a good place. I'm always open to suggestions, tips, and comments.

I remember doing that back in 2007...kept a pack of cigs somewhere, and I even would smoke one or a half of one about every two weeks. Would go out in the garage and quickly take a few drags. The good thing about vaping is I haven't had one single desire to do that in the last ten weeks, after quitting smoking again. But that makes a lot of sense, since I'm constantly sucking on an eGo! haha

Welcome...... This was my experience. I quit smoking due to my ongoing miserable cough. It took about 4 weeks for it to go away after quitting. I was getting worried because it wasn't going away but it eventually did. Anyway, I started with the e-cig around the beginning of Oct. and so far I feel good. I run everyday about 4 miles and bike another 3.5 mile and I do not notice any noticeable effects from the e-cig like I did with the analogs (real cigs). As far as eliquid I just purchased from Backwoods Brew, positive experience and like the liquid and prices are very reasonable. Also, have purchased from Totally Wicked, where I bought my eGo Tornado and Titan 510 from but they are a little more expensive but the product is good. Happy Vaping!! :)

Thanks rhinsen. I'm hoping for better breathing more than anything. I hated working out and getting out of breath. Believe it or not I took Karate for over 7 years and smoked the whole dang time. Lots of fun on sparing nights sometimes. I think back on those days and wonder how much better and more I would've learned if I had not smoked. Crazy!!!
