New to vaping

Hello everyone, been lurking here for about a week, reading reviews on ecigs and juice etc. So much good info here.

So anyway I'm new to vaping. Saw a guy at work vaping last week and was immediately intrigued. So that evening I stopped on my way home and bought a NJOY NPro at a local tobaco shop. Not impressed really. The response time when you start to draw is bad. So I dont get much vapor. And the 18mg menthol cartos i bought arent doing it for me (Camel Silver Menthol smoker). Its more of a spearmint flavor, which i could live with, but they are just so inconsistent. Good vape sometimes, but not all the time. And the TH can be too much for me at times, way too much, even with the weak vapor.

So that experience lead me here, thankfully. God bless google.

So now, I feel it's time to invest in some decent equipment, and some good juices from reputable vendors. If at some point i could put the analogs down for good, then great. Either way, I can see vaping being a part of my life going forward. Just gotta find the right gear and juice :)

So many choices....

Best of luck! If it wasn't for this forum, I never would be vaping or off analogs. I really started this for my mother, a 60 year smoker with COPD. With all of the help from the great people at this forum we have both been analog free! Really a miracle, and I am so thankful!

I really think reading and posting helps keep me off the analogs, so stick around!

What intrigues me the most are the endless flavors that are possible. I quit smoking analogs for 2 years and started back like a fool. Despite how bad they tasted at first when i started back. Plus the benefits of not inhaling all the carcinogens every day all day. So yeah I'm very excited. My wife is a non smoker and I've talked her head off about all this stuff the past few days lol. But shes equally as excited.

The Npro is not a terrible unit but it was probably auto batteries and there tricks to getting a good drag out of an auto. Like when the atomizer or cartomizer is cool it may need an extra short drag to get it warm, then the real drag. And with some PVs, a long slow drag is more fruitful than a sort hard one.

Here in almost all cases people recommend manual batteries where you hold a button to fire the atomizer. Some new people resist the idea of manual batteries but it's the best way to get a good hit with the least work. You press in first, then 1/2-1 second later start dragging, and before your drag is finished you let up the button, while continuing to drag out the alrady-created vapor. Basically your button press and release is shifted a bit earlier in time than your drag. Take about an hour to get used to manual batteries then it will be second nature.

Watch the videos and you can read the multipart illustrated guide (follow the New Members sticky thread with Library in its title)

What is Camel silver? A light? Ultralight? menthol lights? 18mg is often about right for a Lights smoker if you have a PV that gives you good drags. Some lights smokers need 24mg.

Re juices - don't judge based on one juice. There are dozens of juice mixers, hundreds of juices. I think vapor4Life has a menthol Camel juice. Some people find a nonmenthol camel juice they like and use menthol crystals or a menthol or mint flavor they like and mix them. etc.

As you look at stuff - most popular starter unit is 510 (short battery life) or its fat battery longer-charge version Ego or Riva 510 (the fat battery versions can also use more hard-hitting LR low resistance parts).

if you think you are more of a cartomizer person and want prefilled cartos, check of KR808D-1 aka Vapor King at Vapor4Life.com or its fat battery version Elegant Easy at CigEasy.

if you want a softer hit check out DSE901 or Riva 901

Those are the most popular starter units in order of popularity. All 3 a but thicker than a cigarette and about 120mm long. Anything smaller will be weaker.

i am very happy with my ego and grand river "cool" liquids may satisfy your menthol urges. i wasn't a menthol smoker, but the GR stuff isn't bad. just my 2 cents.

from their site -

"All Grand River Vapors e-liquids have the option of adding a slight cooling menthol finish to the flavors. I only use true menthol for the cooling effect, not mint flavoring."

Your wife will like the way vaping smells (sometimes) a hell of a lot more than stinky cigarettes! Does she like waffles? Try some waffle flavored juice! Blueberries? Get some Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble from VaporBomb! She'll love you for it! And you might just like them, too!

I just started myself. I have tried quitting analogs so many times I have lost count. I have been smoking them for 34 years. I think the physical action of smoking is the thing that keeps me on analogs. I am having pretty good success with the shift. I'm confidant that when I find the right platform I will get off analogs completely.

Welcome to the forum, Lummer!
Keep up the research using all the info that's here at your fingertips. You've received some good advice from the friendly folks who've replied to your thread. Even if it takes you awhile to rid yourself of the analogs, every one you avoid will bring you closer to a healthier lifestyle.
Good luck in your future vaping endeavors.

I also have a Joye ego, but with a Mega atomizer, it's great. I got mine from Diggitalciggz.com and I'm totally addicted to the Cinna Rollz juice. But I have also two tricks I do to increase vapor production and reduce throat hit. I hold down my button for 2 seconds before I take a drag and then when I do start to take a drag I take a short one and immediately blow it out. Then start to take an actual drag, which allows the atomizer to heat up. Now to minimize throat hit I put my tongue up like a wall to avoid the vapor from hitting the back of my throat and fill my mouth, instead of inhaling directly into my lungs. Then when I have a full mouth I open my mouth and breathe in air with the vapor to dilute it slightly. This takes practice but eventually it works like a charm.

Hey thanks for all the supportive posts folks. RIght now I'm kinda torn between the Bloog Maxxfusion and the Ego I think. I like the looks and style of the Maxxfusion, and the PCC. PLus from the video review I saw at GrimGreens, it looks like it performs VERY well for a 3.7 auto. They are OOS of the Ultimate kit or I'd probably already have one on the way.

But the Ego seems to have better battery life, which would be handy, but it just looks a little large to tote around to a bar or out and about with the friends
