Hello and sorry first of all if this has been asked to death, I just had to post and find out what y'all say on the matter.

As the post says I am new to vaping, and had a few questions/concerns. Is it better to go with a "main" brand like blu or No7 with the premade cartridges or is self dripping (is that the right term?) easy enough that i don't need to worry about it?

Also was wondering what a good starter set would be? I don't want to cheap out and get some POS that wont last long, but I also don't wanna break the bank. I prefer more flavor and vapor than anything but don't mind a nice throat hit as I use to smoke Reds so I generally prefer a heavier smoke.

My last question (for now :p ) does anyone by some miracle know of a place in the Dallas, Tx area where I could buy some of these things? I don't mind buying a kit off the internet, but in case I forget to reorder in time I'd like to know I can go to a store or something and get what I need...

Anyways, thanks for reading my long winded post, and thanks in advance for any tips advice or answers you give :D

I recommend the Joye Ego for first-time users. I think it may be exactly what you're searching for... the battery will last you just about a full day of moderate/heavy vaping. It accepts 510-threaded atomizing devices (atomizers/cartomizers), of which there is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge variety. It is not a cheap, junky personal vaporizer (PV), but is not a cadillac either. It is a quality piece for a quality price and it will keep you satisfied for a long while. If you like vaping (which you will once you figure it out!), you will be happy with an Ego for a while! I personally have never tried pre-filled cartridges, but I can tell you that it will be a pain in the ... to try to keep these things around. The majority of vapers (myself included) buy juice separately from our favorite vendors (you'll have to experiment and find yours!) and fill atomizers/cartomizers for ourselves.

There are 3 basic options for juice delivery/juice atomization...

Atomizer and cartridge... most Ego kits will come with this set up. Fill the cartridge with liquid, it wicks itself into the atomizer and you vape! This is a medium-maintenance way to vape. Requires a juice top-off here and there, but is a great way to vape.

Cartomizers... these are basically an atomizer and cartridge in one. Fill up the cartomizer, vape away. This is a low-maintenance way to vape. It needs to be topped off periodically, but not as often as option 1. There are drawbacks, though, as some users dont get big barrels of vapor and flavor from cartomizers

Atomizer and dripping... this method produces the best vapor, flavor, and throat hit for me... De-wick your atomizer (easy to do, numerous threads/videos/how-to's on this subject... a quick search will do you right!), drip a few drops in, vape away! This is a high-maintenance way to vape, but it produces the best results for me. A few drops will give you ~5 nice hits... then you need to drip again!

Hope that helps...

Blu and No 7 are not "main" brands
Blu and No 7 are rebrands. All slim ecigs are made in China. Rebranders just slapped their name on something. Many rebranders are ripoffs too and charge $30-50 for a battery that should cost $12 etc. Many rebranders do not sell blank carts or juice. Many sell prefilled carts that are purposely made harder to refill. Most do not sell manual batteries which are what most people here use and recommend.

I recommend buying a popular supported model like something in 510 threading or KR808D-1 threading, under its original model name or number or from a reputable rebrander like Vapor4Life who does sell manual batteries and blank carts (actually cartomizers) and juice.

Closest I know of is Alvin E-Cigs in Alvin, Tx. Not really in the DFW area, but at least they are in Texas! :)

SNS just listed a great vendor which carries the full line of Rivas and eGOs. Whole kits can be had for less than $40.00 including shipping. As you prolly have already seen, the Riva/eGo option is more the size of a sharpie marker rather than an analog cig. The battery size, 650mAh+ will give you hours of heavy, constant vaping (4-6 hours at least). You can easily get a whole day out of a single charge.

The 510 connection mentioned above is also what I would recommend as it offers the most flexibility: you can use atomizers, cartomizers, direct dripping, pretty much everything an PV/ecig can handle. If you go for a larger capacity battery (like the eGO) of 600+mAh, you can also use low resistance atomizers for a bigger kick. I'm repeating alot of what Chornbro has already mentioned, and I agree with all of it.

For a person just starting out, I STRONGLY urge you to consider a "fat bat" like the eGo/Riva/Tornado/etc. Unless you need a ciggy-lookin device for playing poker these are the best place to start out.

Once you start with a certain battery capacity, you'll find that you will want MORE, either higher voltage or bigger capacity for longer times between charges.

Good luck and happy vaping! :)
