Hello,

I'm new to vaping, been doing it for 2 weeks now. The wife for 3 weeks. As of today my wife has not had a real cig for 3 days. Me, I'm down to maybe 6 a day from about 16 a day. I was buying 2 cartons about every 7 to 10 days and we still are on the first carton I bought 3 weeks ago. So I'm loving the savings and I think that is the last real cig I will be buying. I can probably stop all if not most of the 6 cigs I have a day, but I have a problem wasting the good money I spent on those cartons. But I'll get over it as I actually prefer vaping over smoking.

On another note, I had a question. I've been reading the forums for several days now and have a question about PG/VG mix. I'm currently using Halo's Torque56, and I know Halo keeps their PG/VG levels a secret, but I'm trying to figure out what is a good ratio to start with. I wanted to find something else to try but then I saw where I could choose my own ratio and got confused. So I thought maybe there was a few of you who use/used Halo and knows of a good ratio to start with.

Good job on the switch. You're doing pretty darn well with cutting down. Follow you guts with that and before you know it you'll be down to one or none a day :D.

As far as pg/vg ratio goes. It can depend a lot on personal pref. I notice a lot of juices out there do a 70pg 30vg or a 80pg 20vg to start with. This gives a bit stronger TH and good vapor, but it can really depend. There is not hard and fast rule on it heh. If you're still smoking you might benefit more form a higher pg to vg ratio to mimic TH a little better on any juice type, but if you like menthols or cinnamons you can still get good TH at the more balanced PG/VG ratio.

It really depends on what you like which is something that takes time to work out. I would recommend getting flavor samples and trying them in various ratio mixes to see what you like. You can always revisit the samples you did not like as your taste change as well.

Hope this helps.

The higher the PG the less thick the solution will become and you will generally get more of a throat hit from it. The VG however is a more smooth vape and creates a thicker solution, this creating more vapor with each hit. Some also say that the VG creates a more naturally sweet flavor. Either way though. It's more of a preference thing than anything, personally I like more vapor so I go with 60/40 VG to PG. Just experiment, you'll figure out what you like best with time!

Thanks everyone. I understand the personal preference thing and I do plan to get some samples. I just wasn't sure where to start with the ratio. I do have a local sop where I can sample everything they have, and they do make their own as well. So I will ask what ratio they use. I think that would be a good start.

I found some recommendations here and wanted to try some flavors my local store doesn't offer.

Just popped in to say: good job! I can't really add anything as others have said it more succinctly re: PG/VG ratio and the qualities of PG vs. VG. That said, there are a number of vendors which will allow you to choose a ratio from a list of preset variations. Then there are vendors who have separate PG and VG versions of their flavors. Really, it's up to you to experiment to see what works for you (and your device). Also, almost all mixes i've seen, AFAIK, have a higher PG content than VG.

Congrats to you and your wife on making the switch to ecigs.

As far as PG/VG ratio. I prefer a 50/50 mix. It gives me great flavor, vapor, and throat hit. It also wicks well in a carto tank. But as with everything vaping it is all about what works for you to keep you off of the analogs.

Welcome to ECF lots of great people here that are always willing to help.
