Halo won't divulge their secret formulas, but I suspect that their juices are high in PG, possibly 80 or 70%. Pure speculation on my part, of course.

Most people use some combination of PG and VG, 70PG/30VG is my personal preference. It gives me enough body and still wicks well in all my toppers.

Flavoring usually about 3- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG. Lately many vapers are moving towards a 50/ 50 ratio as it provides a smoother vape.

If you really are not sure what you like, start at 50\50 IMO.

Vg increases vapor production.
Pg increases throat hit.

Also, pg is a better carrier for flavor. Vg is slighly sweet. Pg is thinner where vg is thicker.

A good 50/50 blend should not give you any wicking or leaking or other problems due to its viscosity in almost any product while providing you with the best of both worlds. At least until you have an idea what you prefer.

I started out using Halo and still use their VV and many of their juices are my ADV. you can tell slightly which ones are a tad heavier in VG from the vape/thickness and those a tad heavier in PG. I'd say many of their juices are 50/50 and others 60/40 IMHO. I don't believe they have many above 70% in either.

Your best best is to start w/50/50 blend on your juices and then maybe play around from there.

50/50 is a good place to start. Everyone has a preference, and it may take many juice orders to find your taste and TH zone. I went all over the board till settling on 80% VG. Throat hit can also be increased by the distance or the position of the air intake hole from the coil build. After buying enough juice and playing juice roulette, I have gone to DIY juice. That way I can customize my levels and flavors to my liking, while saving money better spent on new mods and rba's.

I've caught a bad case of build em, mix em, mod em, fever. Be careful, it is highly contagious, and can be transmitted easily over a broadband internet connection. I have even read reports that the new bememe virus is known to jump firewalls, wifi and cellular frequencies.

The main thing about the world of vape is to experiment a bit with everything. Try a couple different type of atty's, juices, wire & wicks, till you get a feel for what works best for you. As your vaping style changes, and your gear changes, so will your preferences, quite possibly, change.

I always use either 80pg/20vg or 70pg/30vg. If you want a decent throat hit you want higher PG than VG. PG carries the nicotine and throat hit, the VG carries the flavor is the easiest way to look at it. High VG juices tend to be a "lighter feeling" vapor or a bit more bland. This is just the basics so no one shoot me, haha. I love the VG'ers too. Hope it helps.

Little as 15% VG can significantly thicken the clouds.
Big difference between 100% PG vs 85% PG 15% VG.
Hard to detect opacity change of 15% VG vs 40% VG.
40% VG has none to minimal effect on throat hit.
100% VG can reduce the clouds unless wick efficiently moves the molasses thick liquid.
Extreme clouds obtainable w/ only 50% VG and tuned gear.

Thanks for your input everyone! A lot of good info and suggestions! I tend to like a stronger throat hit so I'll start with 70/30, but also try 50/50 and others. I'm sure it is a subjective preference, like different flavors.

It is also a function of wicking efficiency.
A very efficient wick will produce a sloppy wet vape w/ low percentage VG juice but works fantastic w/ thicker VG blends.
An inefficient wick will contaminate flavor w/ burnt taste when vaping thicker VG blends.

There are so many factors that influence throat hit, wicking and taste. I vape at 15+ watts, my mix is 80% VG, nic 12mg. I don't have wicking problems, I do have plenty of throat hit, if I want more throat hit, I simply raise my coil build a tad from the air intake, and walla, more throat hit. And I have excellent nic delivery. I mix my juices at 10-12% flavor, so if I need more or less flavor, simply adjust the recipe. The atomizer used and the build installed and the wick used and the wire chosen, and the ohms of the wrap all play a major roll in the resulting vape. Generalities are just that. With an X atty on a V batty, you can expect Y results when vaped with Z juice at A VG/PG and wt mg of nic. But if you build a .6 ohm with 28 awg Kanthal, dual coil, hemp wick, firing at 15-28 watts using ...

My point is, that we all have to start somewhere, then see where our taste, likes and abilities take us. What Jim, Dan and Mary do, may not give me the same satisfaction. I may like what Phil and James does better, with a touch of my own creativity. Then eventually, I'll be doing what I like best, while keeping an eye on the latest tips and tricks that I may want to incorporate into my vape.
