Hello All,

I'm new to this genre of electronic cigs, I was using the Logic brand for awhile but I was never really satisfied with it. I'm just getting off smoking a pack a day so the strength wasn't really enough for me.

I just received a Mr-E-Go starter kit that comes with two 900 mAh Passthrough batteries and two smok 2.2ohm clearomizers (along with chargers and juice, obviously). My question is, should I be okay sticking with this hardware for awhile? I'm able to purchase 1.8ohm RBC replacement coils from either Smok or Kanger, but I've heard mixed reviews. I'm willing to spend a little to upgrade hardware, I'm just not sure what I should look into upgrading exactly.

To give a better idea of my preferences, again I'm someone who is coming off smoking a pack a day analog. So I'm looking for a strong throat hit, and I'll be using it relatively frequently throughout the day.

I apologize if my question to a little too broad, but any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, everyone!

Where you least expect it....
Thanks for taking the time to visit ECF and welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you have made a good decision with your starter kit. You should be fine with this hardware. If you plan on using it frequently throughout the day. Then it might be best to bring both batteries with you as you head out the door. Along with a little bottle of e-liquid in case you need to refill your clearomizers. You might also want to entertain the idea of getting lower ohm clearomizers such as 1.8 or 1.5 ohms.

This will give you the throat hit that your craving at the moment. Also, the strength of your e-liquid is important since your new to vaping. Since you were a pack a day smoker. You should buy small 10ml bottles of either 18 or 24mg strength e-liquid. This will give you a chance to test different brands and flavors to see which ones you like the best.

As for an upgrade, please take some time to familiarize yourself with the forum. It's important that you learn about all the safety measures that must be taken into account with advanced personal vaporizers/APV (e.g. ohm's law).

Hi JD and welcome. If you like your setup, there is no need to rush to upgrade it.

I'm not quite sure what kind of batteries you have--the only Mr. eGo PT kit I found was this one:

900 mAh Mr-E-Go Passthrough 2 Battery RBC Kit

Do you know the voltage of your batteries? Are they 3.3v regulated? 3.7v?

If 3.3v, then 1.8Ω atty would work better than the 2.2Ω one. I like Kanger's clearomizers--try an eVod or T3S.

A possible upgrade would be getting a variable voltage battery--either and eGo-class or a box like MVP2.

Read and ask questions! Happy vaping!

Welcome! Vape hardware and juices have come a LONG way in the last few years. I don't know by experience because I have only been vaping a short time, but that is what I hear.

I realize equipment and juice are a little cheaper on-line, but in the beginning the brick and mortar vape shops helped me tremendously, and still do! I travel for work so it was easy to google a shop near to where I was. SOME were "bad" or not very helpful, but for the most part they were very good. Just to name a few good ones... Vulcan Vape in Nashville and Atlanta are awesome! The Vapor Lounge in Providence is great as well.

The guys working in store are typically knowledgeable and helpful if you have an emergency. I had MANY in the beginning. This forum was very helpful as well, but realize you have to discover what will work for you. It is really easy to buy hardware and see if that will satisfy your nic and smoke fix. Like above I would research much first. I have a lot of equipment sitting around I don't use. It is OK I chalk it up to trial and error.

Welcome!!

There is always the opportunity to upgrade ( research helps) but there is still many options to choose from.
Your current set up is a good start and as many say if it works for you then its fine.
Even if a thousand people say a product is great there can be a few that don't like it.

Nicotine level of the liquids as well as pg/vg ratio and the device and volts / wattage all can make a difference.

JD,
I'm pretty new to this as well. A month on this site is like a year of actual personal experience. I've upgraded once since I started vaping a couple months ago. I've taken the time to figure out what I like and then go for it. Local shops can be awesome for trying, but not for buying. With that being said, I always try to buy something before I leave out of respect and thanks for any knowledge gained. Poke around the forum, use the search feature to gain more knowledge and just ask if you don't understand what you read. This place does rock! By far the best forum of any kind I belong to.
