New to Vaping

Hey peeps,
I am new to the whole vaping scene. I picked up a VV stick and currently am running a 2.0 ohm coil. I ohm checked it myself. Looking around it looks just like Kangertech EVOD and even uses those coils though it is not labeled Kangertech Saw somewhere to start voltage at approx 2x the ohmage. Get little vapor at 4.0V. if i go any higher I just get the burnt taste so i had to clean everything and go back to 4.0V. I would like to get a good cloud and have a good flavor to go with it. looking for tips tricks and advise to get me going. Even been playing with the idea of making my own juice, hell of a lot cheaper. Lots and lots to read on here so I am trying to read and soak up as much as I can. Thanks guys.

Hey mate, welcome!

First of all, the voltage at x2 ohm is just a random starting place that'll be different for every atomizer and pg/vg ratio. If I understand correctly, you have a kanger evod that doesn't give you the vapor and flavor you want, and tastes burnt over 4v. Unfortunately, in your situation the tips and tricks are probably going to come down to building a cotton microcoil. You didn't say your PG/VG ratio was, but I'm guessing either 50/50 or 80/20. If it's the former, removing the flavor wicks might help it flow a little better -- but it will never make big clouds with a stock coil.

Those types of tanks aren't really made to feed the coil at high rates; you can remove the flavor wicks to increase flow to the coil, but then you'll probably get flooding. So you basically need something that can be vaped at a higher voltage while still keeping things fed. The microcoil links here will give you an idea as to whether you're interested:

Just have to say WELCOME!!! I don't know anything about your setup, but if I vape juice at higher than 3.5 - I get the burnt thing too - but I use light 50/50 juices only.....thicker juices (like that pink watermelon stuff my hubby keeps messing up my tanks with LOL) seem to be able to take higher volts - but I just have a simple mod and then I have a spinner VV...so not sure what you should do :)

Thanks everyone. Batman I have thought about changing my setup to a rebuildable tank. I am looking around here to find some info. As for my juice I don't know what ratio it is, I didn't think to ask when I bought it. I think I going to find a build that works for me and then start mixing at 50/50 and adjust from there. Seeing as I am new to vape and quitting smoking I just wanted a setup to get me digital and this worked to get me going. Somehow I got on lto the topic of subohm vaping and I think I will stay above 1 for now(if I understand correctly that subohm means below 1ohm). But building my own coil will allow for future customization.

The single-coil evods are a great way to get your feet wet with rebuildables; get some kanthal & silica wick and check out the links. I'd personally avoid jumping straight to an RTA, and say rebuild some evod coils, get a single-coil dripper, and by then you'll have a real idea of where you want to go and what you'll need in terms of a mod and such -- and everything you'll have invested in at that point can go with you.
