Hello everyone I was a heavy smoker for 20+ years. I just smoked my last cigarette 0n 05/02/2016 at approx. Noon. Lol that was when I purchased my CoolFire 4 mod box and Aspire Cleto tank. So far so good. I'm on 3mg/ml going down to zero nicotine by this weekend I have a urine nicotine test for surgery on May 25, 2016. Having a pretty hard time. I've been 15 days no cigs! Trying really hard. My cravings, mood and over all attitude have been horrible. Any advise would be welcomed

Well, most of us started on a much higher nic level than that. if you must give up the nic for the surgery, then you have no choice but to grin and bear it. If they just want you to quit smoking pre-surgery, ask if a nicotine replacement therapy would be acceptable.

if nic is ok to the surgeons, then I would bump my nic up to about 12 and decrease from there.

I have been having to fill my tank up twice in a day. I don't see it leaking out anywhere, but I can feel the hot juice on my lips. Is that normal? I am at 30watts and 4 volts with a4ohm coil. My mod box is the CoolFire 4 and tank is Aspire Cleto.

You have a pretty good setup there. No need to change anything unless you have a raging case of shinyitis. :D

Some surgeries require the patient to be "nicotine free". Reconstructive, cosmetic, orthopaedic and spine surgeries to be exact. (I worked 35+ years in surgery) Nicotine can cause the smaller blood vessels to contract, resulting in poor circulation to healing tissues. It also inhibits new bone growth.

Anesthesiologists hate to put smokers asleep. Smokers produce a lot of thick sputum in their throat and lungs which can be difficult to handle immediately post surgery.

As stated above, you don't have much choice but to grin and bear your nicotine withdrawal symptoms. You might try gum or hard candy to help. Drink plenty of water.

I thought nicotine wasn't as bad as carbon monoxide that attaches to your hemoglobin. Or something like that. Lol. I'm having hernia surgery I have multiple herniated. I need to do more research on nicotine. I'm on the 3mg/ml now. I'm putting zero in tonight until my appointment. I'm very scared about this surgery. Thank you for the info

Jeez, tough beans. This is a good place, though. Many of us here were long-term smokers. AND, we started vaping at a higher Nic level. But, you have good equipment to come back to after the surgery.

On another note, the FDA just deemed that vaping is tobacco related and all parts like hardware and juice will be heavily controlled. It goes into effect on 8 August. I imagine that taxation and sales will cease unless they get a license. Most people are stocking up, heavily.

I hope the surgery goes well. As to the Nic, As was said, just find a way to cope. Comedy shows are about simple things that get blown out of proportion. Seems like an opportunity to have fun and let your "mood" get comedy crazy. :). I saw Big Bang Theory last night and Sheldon got sick. He took it to the extreme. Pretty funny.

Anyway, hang in there. The surgery will go well.

Jo Anne I have always been confused by this issue since vaping hit the scene. It's never been made clear to me whether or not nicotine is the singular problem here, or if it's all the "greater" (weird word to use but...) aspects of smoking that are a bigger problem - like the carbon monoxide you mentioned. Nicotine in combo with carbon monoxide. Nicotine in combo with carbon monoxide and the cardiovascular roller coaster. And on and on - the net total of what you get out of smoking.

Prolly too late at this point but did you ask your surgeon if it was ok if you were on the nic-o-patch or using gum? Just curious to know if they would have a completely different reaction to you using the patch - versus having told them you were a smoker.

What adds to my confusion is certain jobs and insurance use a pee test to rule you in/out as to someone being a smoker or not. That has been challenged. And in some cases the penalty for being a "smoker" was reversed when someone came forward to their insurance company - with receipts even - to show them they were vaping instead of smoking.

Do what you gotta do and I know it isn't going to be easy the way you got rammed into changing, but I'm curious to know how far the discussion about "non-smoking nicotine alternatives" went with your medical staff.
