Hi all I am proud to say I and now smoke free for 4 weeks now and hopefully for long time to come
One thing I have noticed since stopped smoking is finding out best set up for myself and what type of vaping suits me
It has taken alot of time suffing the net and watching youtube videos to find that out
That is the biggest issue I have had is that as a New Vaper finding out what type works best and understand the facts about vaping
Why dosnt the industry have information on diffrent types of vaping on ther websites to help Smokers that want to give up understand how to find best way of vaping for them?
Cheers Steve

Hi Steve and welcome,

For many of us here, we shared the "enjoyment" of tobacco, however, little else.
Some smoked filter-less, some ultra lights, some puffed pipes or savored cigars or just smoked regular old Marlboro lights.
Finding your vaping style is more of a journey WITH a destination.
New vapers generally have very few options when making that first purchase, often a single shop or a buddy that vapes or a gas station/ C-store.
Limited juice flavors and hardware choices as well as personal preferences, (must be shaped like a cigarette or must or must not be a tobacco flavor) budget and convenience tend to outweigh extended research as folks abruptly transition over.
As you are exposed to more and more of the industry, your options expand and what you find satisfying may possibly change.
The more research you do, the more marketing you will encounter offering the next, new, bigger, better thing.
Vaping as a business needs you chasing the carrot.
Vaping as a community; reviews, forums, groups etc, helps to sort some of the cow from the bull.

Welcome to the ECF.
Congratulations on your first month smoke free!

Cheers
I

Why dosnt the industry have information on diffrent types of Vaping on ther websites to help Smokers that want to give up understand how to find best way of vaping for them?

Mainly because such information is highly subjective.

Let me use mouth to lung versus direct lung drawing as an example. Even in direct lung circles there's two main schools of type, one is restricted the other is loose.

Mouth to lung is fairly straight forward as the draw on it is extremely tight. Well there's an over hang of direct lung that could be seen as mouth to lung, the restrictive type.

So one's restricted direct lung is another one's mouth to lung.

This is just about air flow for atomizers really. It's up to each person to try and find what they like. Manufactures on their part try to aim for a "middle of the road" so as to appeal to a wider consumer base.

It is much the same regarding mods, mechanical versus regulated, VW/VV versus Temp control. You also got the Mosfet mods that are all but mechanical. They use a protection circuit chip, or electrical switch. I use all three different ones but prefer the mechanical.

It's to personal or individual preference. There's no one "absolute set in stone right" kit for anyone aside from the one that person decides is "right for them". Sorry but each person has to choose their path.

Hello & Welcome ! ... I was lost when I first started vaping, but I knew I wanted & needed to quit the nasty cigs & I was a careless smoker dropping ashes everywhere but the ashtray at times !
I didn't know what device or anything to get/vape on, so I went to my local vape shop & he was very helpful. I got me a couple pod devices & a few replacement pods & it was wonderful, the taste was great & wished I had done vaping sooner, if I knew it was going to taste this great & no more dropping ashes anymore & possibly burning my home down.
& now 4 yrs. later I'm still vaping & it's still great & now I have over 40 pod, pod/mod & mod devices ! ... But u will get the hang-of-it & hopefully u also will not go back to those nasty-cigs !! ✌❤

Welcome to ECF Steve and congratulations on making the move to vaping!

When I began vaping there were only a few choices of device and topper, so most of us used fairly similar stuff. A little bit of trial and error and we found something that worked well enough to keep off the smokes. There were a number of resellers that provided much information to get you started at that time, but as the volume of products coming out of China grew and various styles of vaping developed, education of new vapers has fallen to forums and youtube.

With the vast array of choices today it's much harder to determine what is best for any one vaper. I sometimes think too many options is a curse for new vapers.

I expect you'll need a little more trial and error yourself, but narrowing down your preference is the first step, in size of the device and flavors you prefer. Do you enjoy fiddling with devices and settings to get a better vape or do you just want to pick it up and vape it? You don't have to become a hobbyist to be a successful vaper but many here are. I'd recommend keeping it simple to start - if you are succeeding in keeping off the smokes, what you have now may be the right thing in the early months of switching.

Good luck in your hunt!

information on diffrent types of Vaping
Welcome and glad you joined.
The choices in vaping can overwhelm. You only have to ask (after a little searching*) in such forms like:
General Vaping Discussion
*Might want to try the search function in upper right hand corner of this post.

@Steve Avis, the only way to find out what vaping style suits you is to try each one unfortunately.

There is no other way.

Then of course you have all the mods, atomisers and pods to confuse you even more.

Then there's the dark arts that you can practice, Temperature Coefficient or Temperature Controlled vaping.

So yhea, it's a minefield getting started. But be prepared for your collection to expand over time.

Yes u will get frustrated for 6 months or more with coils, replacement pods, etc. thinking u might have ur vape device ready for u to vape & it doesn't work for some reason, coil/pod not primed long enough & u burn them, then have to start all over & u probably will just want to hang-it-up & grab a nasty-cig., but I guess that's normal for some people to go-back smoking, but try & hang in there, vaping is much worth it !!

You got it.

Why dosnt the industry have information on diffrent types of Vaping on ther websites to help Smokers that want to give up understand how to find best way of vaping for them?

That would be hard to do. There are so many devices and juices and smokers have many different things they desire from their habit.

The best way, i believe, would be to have decent vape shops that had a lot of different gear on hand and juices and truly helpful employees. Basically, 1 on 1 consulting. But this is expensive to do. And from what I hear the FDA is basically forbidding this.

You did what needed to be done and have what it takes to succeed and you did it. I suspect many smokers can never do this and many that try fail.

Welcome Steve!

I quickly discovered I am a MTL vaper. When to comes to experimentation, go cheap when you can, is my advice. Like, with RTAs I went through a few clones (and some stuff you can only buy clones. like the doggy style RTA) Fasttech or 3Fvape are good places to find these items. When you find what you love, you can go all authentic, if you even feel you NEED to.

But in any case, welcome, and some of the most fun times in vaping are actually experimenting and finding what you like, etc. It certainly kept me occupied and away from smoking in the beginning.

Hope you have a great time! :)

Congrats on the switch!

For me, I initially did not care about taste, my taste buds were burnt/messed up from cigs. I just focused on getting the nic.

I did try a fair number of RTAs. It was football season and on Sunday, at the coffee table, I built RTAs so that I had them available through the week. I found it kinda relaxing.

I look at my experience as vaping apple pie. At first I just tasted some sort of weird apple. Then, a couple months later I got a sense of a thick doughy flavor and then a couple of months later I noticed a cinnamon note in the vape. It just took me time for my taste buds to heal. I did get a sense of smell much faster, and that is a big part of reinforcing the sense of taste.

It is a rather big world, vaping is, and I just suggest focusing on the nic at first.

Oh, back-ups for the back-ups. I never wanted to be away from my spares and feel the urge to stop at a cig shop to get my fix. I carried spares in my car. I am always near my car.

Good luck!
