Just picked up my first mod a week and a half ago. I have several friends that use e-sigs regularly but never thought about trying it as a replacement or supplement (TBD) to cigar smoking. As my cigar habit once again started to escalate to at least 1 per day, I stated to consider quitting again, (the typical cycle I have followed for the past 15 years) I contemplated giving e-cigs a try. That said, I am (was?) a Cigar smoker as I have stated and the idea of smoking a device that looks like a pen with a neon glowing tip just The local cigar shop I frequent has been consistently morphing into a shop for vaping equipment and supplies and I have been intrigued with all the different devices they offer. After a little research on the web and some further contemplation, I made the initial investment into my first set up. I purchased the Istick TC40W, an atomizer and a bottle of what the proprietor suggested would best parallel the Cigar taste I was accustomed to and I am off. From the fist pull I new I had made the right call. I am learning as I go, changing formulas, issues with flooding and even an occasional lung inhale have been part of that learning curve. The more I learn the more I find I have to learn, so I felt the best way to do so was to join this forum. I am not new to forums but I am new to the world of vaping so I will sit back, vape, and learn, as I read through all the information available. Thanks in advance for all your help.

I am sure there are threads about the stigmas associated with Vaping, and I will search them out, but my experience here in Southern Massachusetts has been interesting. Even my wife cringed and told me should would rather see me smoke cigars! I have only seen a handful of people vape publicly although I am sure in certain circles it is more prevalent than others. I don't know anyone in my community, none of my friends other than those that do the e-cigs I mentioned in my first post (soon to be converted vapers (?) and forum members I am sure) and a few folks I have mentioned it to have given me the rhetorical response and he hairy eye ball simultaneously. Would love to hear from someone who has fought this uphill battle.....I assume I am not alone.

@Thruput - First, welcome to vaping and the ECF.

I ran into some of the same kind of skepticism and "looks" from friends, relatives, etc. at first. But, once they smelled the difference between my vapor and my usual cigarettes' smoke - they actually LIKED it, and the comments and strange looks stopped abruptly. Now the only comments I hear are encouraging ones and highly favorable regarding my switching to vaping. A few have even asked if I could help one of their family members switch, too. So...hang in there. It WILL get better.

I'm glad that you made the transition. :)

I smoked cigarettes hard core for six years but never went a year without a cigar. One year, when I was a manager of an ISP, I smoked several very good ($) cigars a day while on the road driving. Initially I never wanted to quit, and always came back to smoking. Then I started to get a wee bit older and could not quit. I'm not sure what I've quit, but burning tobacco and inhaling it is NOT for me. I still like nicotine, and the flavors make this very palatable.

I was at a Styx (rock music) concert around two to three years ago and saw people vaping and wondered what they were smoking :D, I made some incorrect assumptions, and did not approach them, but the "smoke" they were exhaling I am sure did not go unnoticed by anyone....giant clouds! Then I ran in to a neighbor who vapes pens, and it all became clear what was going on at the concert. I was like whoa...what the heck! I didn't start vaping at that time and continued on my way with my Marlboros. After going to the Dr and getting prescriptions for the patch and Nicotrol, I was on and off smoking for more than a year. That garbage just would not let go of me and I was at 12mg to 20mg+ every day.

An Internet search brought me to vaping and since Sept 7th, 2015, I have not turned back. The feeling is that it is clean. I cannot believe that I was smoking cigarettes and cigars. They're nasty as all hell. If I have my way, I'll never be without my vaping tools and e-liquids.

By 11/01/2015, I'll be placing my first order for liquid nicotine (see signature), 500ml +, and that will be the first of several 500ml purchases I order to guarantee that I am never without. I'm 50/50 that the US Govt could come down on the sale of these goods and I am NOT going to let this slip away from me. These people are fools, and would send everyone back to analogs (cigarettes and cigars). Chicago, Illinois just passed their new budget for an increase of $750 million in taxes for a budget gap, and they have been talking about a 25% TAX on all e-cig related products and juices! Hopefully, I'll get my order in before they manage to implement their taxes and they can all go take a hike.

Shop around, try out, and read as much as you can here at ECF. This is all changing beneath our feet as we chat. This is a great site, with many in depth documents, and people with a ton of knowledge...programmers, chemists, manufacturers, etc., be aggressive with gaining knowledge, this place rocks!

Very similar story here. I do a lot of driving and smoking cigars. To the point where I was uneasy driving without a cigar. Car smells. New car in Feb. vowed never to smoke in it. Fathers day came...had a cigar...car now smells. That said I am already noticing a difference in the car after a week and a half.

I am not really fluent on the new proposed regulation but sounds like I should do some research and perhaps stock up before there are some changes or significant taxes imposed. They love to TAX us on everything here in MA.
