New to Vapor cigarette

Hello All,

I am new to Vapor Cigarettes. I have tried to quit smoking several times and want this time to be the last. I have been smoking for 24 years and it is time to change. I would like to know where the best place is to get vapor cigarette items. In particular, a starter pack at a reasonable price. I hope this is the right forum for such information and would appreciate any advice I could get.

Thank you,

Caryn

I can only advise you to avoid the cheap(ish) imitation cigarettes sold just about everywhere, the ones with glowing tips. The Kanger EVOD starter kit, it's sold on Amazon, worked for my son in that he was able to completely stop smoking. You will need some eliquid as well, the juice that provides the vapor. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Hi Caryn and welcome to ECF. There are so many online companies that sell e-cigs and accessories that it would be hard to list. You could check out the forum suppliers tab above and check out their prices. What I would like to suggest is that you google vape shops in your area. I did a quick google and came up with a few... Vapor Parlor, Tonic smoke and vape shop and Vapour house. I have no idea what these places are like as I live on the other side of the US but I suggest a local vape shop for the education side of it. You might pay a little more but you can ask questions and see what it is that you are buying. I am sure there is somebody here that lives close to your area that can better suggest.

There are also many helpful people here but without more information, like if you are using anything now or just trying to find your first gear, and what type of experience are you looking for. It may seem a bit overwhelming to start but with help you will figure it all out. I wish you all the success in your vape adventure and again welcome!!!

Hey Caryn,
Starter kits can be found very cheaply ($15 ish dollars) and while these may work for some people I have found starting out with these leads to upgrading and spending more money. My advice would be to find a local shop (which won't be hard in Sacramento). Go to the store, talk to the workers, and try out different equipment. Most of the time you can find a better price online then what you would find in a store, so deciding in store and buying online will likely save you money. The itaste vv is my go to recommendation for simple, inexpensive setups for people new to vaping. Cheap e-juice is often harsh, not great in taste. I would suggest avoiding gas station and tobacco store e-juice unless you are familiar with the brand and know you like it. https://www.misthub.com/product/innokin-itaste-vv-v3-0-starter-kit/ is the cheapest price I have found.

The only other advice I can offer is to keep in mind that this community is full of eccentric if not obsessed individuals (myself included) and while most of the advice you get is good, it's all subjective I may not like the same thing you like so sweeping statements of what is good, and what isn't should be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree with this tactic if your pocket strings are very tight, however, I am one that believes in supporting your local shops so they can stay open. If everybody just got their info from shops then ordered online to save a buck or two these shops would all fold. It is MHO that we need to support the ones that will take the time to help us know what's what. Of course, however, it is your money so if you are really on a tight budget this is sound advice and absolutely nothing wrong with it. I know I have not only learned a lot in my local vape shop, but I have also made some friends there so if I need something it is them that will profit for it.

Hello and welcome to the forum Caryn. Glad to have you here!:)

Here are some options for you to consider and research before you go to a vape shop.

Hardware

A variable v/w (twist/spinner) battery is usually recommended over a "non variable v/w" battery. It allows you to adjust your settings to get a better "vape". Some flavors taste better at higher voltages than 3.7v

1. JoyeTech Ego-C Twist
2. Vision Spinner
3. Innokin iTaste vv v3
4. Innokin iTaste MVP v2

The first 3 are fall into the "ego style" category of battery (with variable voltage). They range in size from 600mah to 1300mah. The higher the mah the longer the battery will last between charging. The 4th one is a step up from an "ego style" battery in that it is a smaller box mod with a very big battery (2600mah). It will last many vapers a whole day before it needs recharging. It is probably one of the most popular batteries for someone upgrading from an "ego style" battery. Some vapers choose to buy one "ego style" battery as a backup and also purchase the MVP for their main battery.

If you are purchasing an "ego style" battery I suggest buying only name brand Joyetech Twist or Vision Spinner batteries. BTW, "ego" is merely a type of battery, not a brand name. Buying "generic" ego batteries is always going to be hit or miss...mostly miss.

You will need to purchase a tank (the juice attachment) with the first three on the above list. The mini Nautillus, mini Aerotank or regular size Aerotank (all made of glass & all have adjustable airflow control) are very popular. The MVP Kit comes with a tank but it is not glass.

Why would you want a glass tank (you may be thinking to yourself)? Here is a great resource regarding "tank cracking" eliquid by ECF member Baditude: Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

I gave up two years ago. Started on ego starter kit and progressed from there not touch a ciggy in all that time
The first thing i noticed was that i could take a deep in take of fresh air with out coughing half way through also my lungs have stopped whistling me to sleep at night.
Take the advise and find a vape shop they will give all the advise you need .
Perhaps one day the advise will be available at our health clinics( once the governments have found a way to tax these products to hilt of cause)
Good luck and happy vaping

To a certain extent this is true.

However, I like sweeping statements.

Beware many, many shady dealers out there selling e-cigs for maximum profit. The difference between paying $119.99 or $42.00 for exactly the same product is not a subjective issue. :)

and the best way to avoid these online muggers is to ask on here :)

Caryn,

Welcome to ECF! I hope the responses aren't overwhelming. IMO Susan is spot on and I would look for any of the items she mentioned in her list.
