I just received an innokin itaste passthru ego that has vv and vw. I have no idea how to use it, or why I would change the voltage or wattage. I use the protank and get my liquids through vaporbomb. It also came with iclear 16 clearomizors. Ok, now the questions.

When should I use voltage or wattage setting?

Around what number should I set the voltage/wattage?

Any other info I should know would be nice too.

So far it seems to be of very good quality, and well made. I just want to make sure I'm using it to the best of its abilities since I spent the extra cash for it.

Thanks in advance.

start at 3 watts and move up until you don't like the taste.

It really is as simple as that. I find my "sweet spot" to be around 6 watts, but that's just me. A quick search of the forum should yield plenty of info on this topic as it has been and currently is being discussed at length.

Enjoy your new device! The set it and forget it nature of VW is pretty swell.

Voltage is the power going into the circuit and wattage is what's left after resistance. If you adjust voltage and then change heads you'll get a different vape. If you adjust wattage, your PV will take the different resistance into account and adjust the voltage automatically to give you the same vape. Either way just start low and adjust up until you like the taste. If it tastes burnt, turn it down.

Here is a little more detail. Since I like to be a show off :vapor:

The sweet spot for most vapers is anywhere from 6-9 watts. That is what I have found wont give you a burnt flavor. BUT this does depend highly on what juice and coil, etc, etc. So keep in mind this is the "average user range". You can learn some math to figure it out if you REALLY want to understand it. For example:

Watts = Volts X Volts Divided by Ohms

So if you vape a 2.5 ohm coil at 4 volts...
(plug it into the equation)
(volts squared) 4 volts X 4 volts = 16
Divided by 2.5 Ohms = 6.4 Watts

So if you like a little less hard hitting vape 4 volts might be a good choice for you. This of course depends on your juice. Certain juices can taste burnt at "7 watts". In reality the strength of having a VV AND VW device is that, like @S1LV3R said, you can set your watts and then not worry about it! You don't have to change your volts that much with variable wattage. What the device is really doing is taking the equation I just did above ^^ and automating the process for you. You tell it I want 7 watts and it says okay let me do the math....and puts out the correct volts that equal that level of watts. Confused yet? :?: Hopefully it made sense :)

Stick with variable wattage as it is closer to "set & forget", as it will automatically adjust your power to maintain your settings as the resistance of your carto/clearo/atty changes. If you are using a single coil carto/clearo in the 2.5 - 3.0 ohm range, I would start at around 7.5 watts and move up or down for a warmer or cooler vape based on your preference.

i like my microcoils at 13watts and higher.

The only issue with this is that a lot of people forget they have an amp limit on most devices. Of course people who like microcoils are usually using a mech. The itaste SVD has a 5 amp limit. But most don't go that high. So you can go that route. Many people like it. But dont fool yourself into thinking you can push this on a normal APV. You have to have a mech to do something like this effectively IMHO. Or you just get limited back down to a voltage the device thinks is "safe".
