Ok so i bought a Kanger Tech iPOW 2 Variable wattage battery about 3 months ago and along with it I bought a new tank (Aspire Vivinova w/ a verticle coil Clearomizer ohm strength of 1.8). I've sifted through loads of threads still unsure where to park my wattage at. Im lookin for max vapor and flavor with little throat hit, but everything i read doesnt exactly make sense. Im looking to up myself to a subohm box mod but until then what do i do?

Hi Umeii and welcome to ECF :thumb:

There is really no solid rule as to what wattage is the best for a given atomizer, it really depends on what works best for you. The important thing is to not be degrading juice because of too many watts. That creates chemicals that are not good for us to inhale. The good thing is you'll know if you go too high in power because your vape flavor will become noticeably nasty when that happens.

What I do is start at low power (watts) and see how the vapor tastes. For a ViviNova I would start at say 6 watts. Vape that and if it's OK then increase a watt at a time until you notice a slightly burnt taste. That power level will be a bit more than your setup will be able to do without burning juice. Back it down a bit until the burnt flavor is gone and that is the most power you can apply to this setup safely. That power or anything less than that is safe to vape at and you'll just have to decide what power in that range you like best :)

well first thing, The ipow's are amazing batteries. They have a pretty high power output for the ego-twist style they are. I have 3 of them. And my provari has been collecting dust since I bought my first. Very durable aswell. You really need a tank with airflow control for batteries like the ipow. Im not sure if your vivi nova has airflow or not.... Vivi novas have been a waste of money for me in the past. I'm not sure what upgrades they have done to them. For a starting tank, you should really go with a say maybe a kanger aerotank/genitank, or nautilus etc. Trusted tanks. As far as subohm, read up on them, as they are not beginner level mods.

but yeah like said, different juices produce different vapor. Juices with all or high vg will produce the most vapor. PG will produce throat hit. I use a 70vg/30pg coffee flavor from vapage.com. with a 1.8 ohm head in a kanger aerotank mega. About 9-11 watts ( provided the head is clean) will make clouds.

Personally ive noticed the mod and tank have less effect on the amount of vapor vs the actual juice itself.

I agree with all the above posts, start at low wattage and work your way up to find that sweet spot. I recently found that one of the most important aspects is airflow. I was using some cleros that had a pretty restricted airflow and someone suggested I drill the holes out a little and that made a HUGE difference! I bought some Nautilus Mini's a few months ago and they are perfect, great airflow that's adjustable for pretty much every ratio of juice.

I know its a little specific, but I'm clearly new to intermediate level of vaping and looking to absorb as much info as possible. Just working with what I have lol, but i talked with my local vape supply depot (The Vape Supply Company DTLA) and they said when im ready to upgrade i should stay with Kanger Tech and get their newest subBox which can later be turned into a drip mod. They also said that if im looking for more vapor and flavor without the crazy throat hit my iPOW2 isnt going to cut it with the set up i have currently, so i recognize and understand that i have alot to learn. My husband and I moved from Duluth, MN to Los Angeles, CA recently and well if anyone on here knows, minnesota is like 20yrs behind the curve! so up to date stuff was hard to come by along with knowledgeable vape staff. thank you thank you everyone who replied. ill keep u updated with my findings on my current setup and let u know how i like the subBox when i get that one as well. i truly appreciate the advice and i think it will help me quicker in quitting cigs for good and stay with vaping!

not to mention i like the lung hit versus the throat hit anyways. from what ive read the lung hit versions give more vapor and flavor versus throat hitters...as well as a lower nic level will help...im running 60/40 juice at 18mg nic and apparently thats way too high for my smoking parameters! ugh i should have joined on here when i first started vaping back in late 2013, maybe id be more advanced and would have been able to stay up to date instead of playing catch up with you guys lol!
