Hello All

My name is lloyd, and I've tried giving up smoking for the new year. I'm not doing terrible at it, last week I went for about 5 days without one. But I do love a drink on the weekend and the moment I drink, I always end up smoking again (like last Friday!). I also go back to college tomorrow and as all my friends there smoke, it's going to be a complete nightmare holding off the fags.

Anyway, I'm thinking my cravings are going to get the better of me sooner or later, so I've being looking into E Cigs. I do have some experience with them. I tried a disposable one from spar a few months back, but i found myself sucking on it way too much and within a few days it was all gone. At £5.99 a pop, it's cheaper and more satisfactory for me to smoke tobacco.

After researching this site, I've learnt that "mid size" E cigs like this one The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid are meant to be much much better. Does this kit come with everything I need to get me started? If I'm spending £30 plus i need to make sure it's worth it.

Also, I'm a little bit worried about the size. Although I would be fine with it at home, I'm worried I might be a little self conscious when using a cigar sized E-cig in a crowded smoking area.
So what is the one of the better, refillable (but under £40) cigarette sized E cig kits we can get over here?

Sorry about all the questions
but if any light can be shed, I'd be most greatfull.
Lloyd

I had one of these to start of with: Smart PCC starter kit - STARTER KITS - All Products ... very weak even with 24mg, then went too: The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid ... bigger but much better, got this coming tomorrow: EGO VV/VW 18650 MOD VAMO £39.95 - MODS & Advanced - Ego VV/VW VAMO Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid .... but that is gonna be way too big for you.

Get the Riva, you won't be disappointed, very nice e-cig.

If you have a local vape shop then it is worth popping in and having a look and a chat. See what takes your fancy.

The kit you linked is a good starter and will easily set you on your way.

I would pick up one of these to go along with your kit so you have 2 full set ups.
Vision Ego V2 Rainbow Long Wick £4.50 - Vaping Spares - Cartomisers Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

10ml of juice will give you anywhere from a few days up to 10 days depending on how much you vape.
I would definitely recommend ordering more sooner rather than later. If you find you enjoyed the liquid you got then buy 30ml of it to keep you going for a while and when you can, get some samples of different stuff in.

Edit: Nice to see you've picked up a VAMO Romelee, looks like you are getting into it :D

Hi Lloyd!

There have been a couple of Welsh people on the forum today! Yey! (I was born in Wales!)

While I know it isn't popular with everyone, I like my 510 mini. It's effectively this one Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid but instead, I use the longer batteries, these 82mm ones 510 Automatic Batteries £7.95 - Vaping Spares - Batteries & Passthroughs Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid. Like many people have said, the battery life isn't great so I LOVE my PCC- the personal charging case which can charge these batteries on the go. This way, as long as you have a minimum of three batteries, you'll never be without. I paid nearly £20 for my PCC but I've found one for £5.99 at 510 PCC's

I actually started out on the size you've suggested, with an Ego-T but it was too big and bulky for my taste. The problem is, it's difficult to recommend something when we're all so individual! Veyf is totally right in suggesting you pop into a shop and see if you can hold one and get the feel for it in your hand although it might be worth holding back on buying one from the shop and waiting to buy one online to save on cost.x

Also how much did you smoke a day? what cigarette brand?

I only ask this because it will help decide on what kinda throat hit you are gonna need, i.e what MG in liquid and may also help on what e-cig you need.

If you are a light smoker than perhaps one of those basic starter kits will do with a 24mg liquid to compensate for their weakness....or even a lower MG if you are a very light smoker.

Saying that i am no expert, i am always pestering peeps on this forum for advice:blush:

This is my eGo 650 with a smoktech xl cartomizer. This setup with 2 cartomizers filled with diferent flavors lasts me all day at work and I chain vape in my office.

It's also very small so it doesn't stand out when vaping.

Hello & welcome Blue :)

The Riva isn't that big honest :D I bought a couple of Riva kits for my next door neighbours who are in their mid 60's & they love them. Plus also just ordered the same Riva kit for my next door but one neighbours who are both in their late 60's. None of them have been at all concerned about the size of the Riva - just amazed at how good it is.

Anyvape Tecab 360Mah Clearomiser Kit

This would have to be my suggestion, i've been vaping for just over two months and have had this for just over a month. I cant recommend it enough, great size, looks good, the battery life isn't great but they are removable rechargables so you can just swap them out but i get almost a full day out of one
There are a couple of reviews on youtube of it, just search alba vapours Anyvape
Good luck.

Before you cap how much you are going to spend on an e-cig, weigh up how much smoking costs you.

Do not give up on the first attempt, I spent £70 on my first kit then spent another £70 upgrading to another that I find perfect for me.

This may sound a lot but when I consider that I would have spent this on tobacco in three weeks, it's not.

I loved smoking and did so for 40 years but since discovering vaping over four months ago I have no desire for cigarettes and cannot stand the taste of them anymore, plus vaping only costs me £5 per week.

Don't give up.

Liquidator made the main point on cost perfectly.

I was spending £50 per week on cigarettes, while vaping drops it down to a fraction of that.
Invest in good quality kit and it will last you a long time.

Don't expect an immediate saving, but once you settle a kit which you like then the difference will definitely be noticeable.

I'm actually starting to DIY mix my own liquids now, which should knock my monthly spend down to around £5 as long as I can resist buying new flavours all the time.

Also, I'm a little bit worried about the size. Although I would be fine with it at home, I'm worried I might be a little self conscious when using a cigar sized E-cig in a crowded smoking area.

This might help you get a idea on size:

Smallest is your very basic e-cig
Middle size is the Riva 1100
Biggest is the Vamo vv/vw

Hope it helps.

Thank you all very much for your replies and advice. I'm sorry its taken a while to reply, this month has been manic, and I'm smoking again. I smoke about 5-10 a day but lots more when i drink.

Its a little bit of a confusing scene with so many options, so all your advice is extremely useful. I'm just glad i didn't just buy one of those E-lite kits, which they always advertise in "Viz" magazine :)

Anyway as I live in rural Wales and after considering these replies, I've decided to settle and finally order the Riva 1100 online. Also my partner now wishes to cut down smoking too, so she would like to try this too, which is great :)

Ok hope i got this right, I've ordered the riva 1100 kit, one of these Vision Ego V2 Rainbow Long Wick £4.50 - Vaping Spares - Cartomisers Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid and 5ml samples of RY4, HS Impulse, HS Menthol and apple lol.
Hopefully this will give us a riva each to vape on and should be quite exciting trying all them flavours
Came to £45 which isn't bad for all that. If we get on with them i will prob get a few extras like another carrying case.

I will post back when we get them delivered and set up (which i may need help with hehe)

Thanks again

Oh BTW Phil, I'm in rural mid Wales, so i don't go down as far as Swansea very often.

EDIT: Awww no, i was literally just about to order it all, and i noticed the riva is in bright pink only! damn, just sent an email to the site. Will have to see when they get the black or white ones back

I would wait to be honest for VapeEscape to get stock in, shouldn't think it would take long for them to come in:)

Cannot comment about the: http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/vape-escape-vision-900-upgrade~345 as i have never tried one, perhaps someone else on here has and would be able to comment....Good thing is though it has Variable Voltage which will give you more choice to adjust it for your preference.

If you was to get that one i would suggest to get some Cartomisers like these ones: http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/boge-510-standard-resistance-(5)~145 just in case you don't like Clearomisers.

Regards

Romelee
