First of all.. hi! :) I'm new to the world of vaping and so far.. I'm in love. I started off with a Halo G6 and absolutely love it.

So here's my conundrum.. I recently bought an eGo CE5 950mAh from Amazon. As soon as I got the package I unwrapped it and charged both batteries completely. I filled my first tank with enough juice to saturate both wicks, hit the button, and... almost threw up. It tasted horribly horribly burnt. So I tried a different tank, then a different liquid.. same thing. I'm trying to let the tank sit for awhile to make sure the wicks are fully saturated and maybe that will help. I have no idea what to do! I'm a little scared that I wasted my money on a crappy system. I'd love some advice.

Help?

Well at first I didn't really let the wicks sit. In my earnestness I took one of the tanks apart and saw that the wick had a burnt spot on it. I filled up another tank and I'm letting it sit before I try again. It's not a twist but is it possible the battery and the tank aren't compatible? That taste gives me such a headache and I'm a little scared to try to take another drag.

Welcome to the forum.

If you are getting a horrible burnt taste then it's because you aren't burning juice, you are burning the coil and the wicks. As Kyadow said, if you can change the voltage on your ego battery, try turning it down - start at the lowest setting and turn it up bit by bit.

Second, those CE5's like to be filled about 1/2 to 3/4 to work at optimum performance. Try filling them up a little more, twirling the clearo / battery to make sure those wicks are wet. Also, with any new clearo, there is going to be some break-in. I usually blow out the first few puffs, just to stop getting that 'new coil' taste. Try puffing it and just blowing the vapor out, don't take it into your lungs for the first few hits.

Renae, I see you are not far from Columbus, Ohio. AltSmoke is a poplular e-cig vendor which has a brick & mortar vape shop in Columbus. Besides having a juice testing station in-store where you can sample new flavors, they have very knowledgable and helpful staff that could give you hands-on instruction on your gear.
