hi, ive been smoking a pack a day for a long time, and now im ready to quit and buy my first e-cig. i have a few questions for anyone cool enough to answer! first is which model and from which retailer? after some research it seems i should buy either the joye 510 or blu. another question is how much will the sustained cost of using an ecig be, like, what all needs to be purchashed on a regular basis? if i have to keep on buying something id like to be dealing with a trusted seller. lastly, what are the current (and soon to be expected) legal standings with ecig usage in the states? from the little bits ive read, it seems big brother wants me to keep smoking instead. not a good sign.

in my efforts to quit, ive even tried snusing. you know, those tabacco pouches you stick behind your lip. the verdict is still out on this though. that bergamot flavor they use in 99% of all snus is difficult to get used to. those who have tried it know what im talking about. anyway, thanks in advance for any helpful insight or advice.

I would start with a very basic supply in case you decide you dont like the e-liquid, 501 you bought, etc. I personally bought a puresmoker ace with 24mg and 36mg bottles of flavorless e liquid and have decided the 36mg was right for me. I dont even use the 24mg after a few days of trying it. Also thinking of upgrading to a higher voltage as the puff ratio compared to cigs isnt always quite the same.

umm not sure where you read that about the blu i dont know anyone that would suggest it openly in a topic. joye 510 is going to be suggested from cignot or litecig. and after that they are going to tell you go for joyes ego for the long battery life. both are great. someones gonna say a DSE-901 and another an 808 both available at litecig.

as for regular expenses your going to splurge on juices and only you can control the actual amount. no one on these forums can seem to control themselves(me included)

I would keep 3 batteries(if you go 510 not sure about the others) and 4 attys on hand from the start. and honestly the best thing you could do is go to tasty vapor and find juices you like and then buy the doublers to mix them. It ends up around 27 cents a ML and ppl use anywhere from 1 to 5? 10? a day?

Welcome! Those guys are right. The Joye 510 is extremely popular here and even though i haven't used it, i can say there are a lot of experienced vapers here. If they say Joye 510, i believe them. I personally use a Janty V3 and i love it. Def get extra atomizers. Def get extra liquid. Try out a bunch of flavors. I also recommend getting 36, 24 , and 12 mg liquids. You won't really be sure how much nic you need till you start and i was stuck first with liquid that was too low and then liquid that was too high. I now keep all strengths on hand. I vape 36 in the morning, 24 throughout the day and 18-12 at night. If you have any more questions let me know. Use the forums. There's a ton of information, but it can be hard to sift through so feel free to PM me.

3 to 4 packs or three quarters of a pack? Either way order juice. as much as you can afford. Different flavors in small bottles too. You don't want to run out, remember that more supplies are at least 2 days away. Small batches because you don't know what flavors you like yet. Don't toss the ones you don't like because your sense of taste is gonna change and you may like it later or it may be good to mix with something else.
I'd start with 24mg strength. If that's too strong you can dilute it. I was a pack a day guy who started with 18mg and was getting cravings for tobacco until I stepped up the nic to 24mg. Good luck!

mist is right - 'your' level of nicotine is going to be different from 'mine' even if we smoked the same cigs, same amount, same times; we are 2 different people so one size doesn't fit all :) You might find you get it right (for you) from the get-go which is great, but fine tuning is common. It doesn't take long to find though.
If you get headaches or 'the runs' - your nic level is too high
If you crave cigs a lot - its too low.
After you get that sorted your only quest will be to find your fave flavor! Now that one might take some time ;)

I would strongly suggest forgetting the Blu and go with a 510 model for starters. If a 510 seems to be up your ally, I could reccomend two places where to purchase from. My first choice is www.volcanecigs.com and look at the Magma. It is a standard 510 model, with some of their own tweeks/branding on it. It's not the cheepest starter kit, but they do give you quite a lot with it. They have a lot of accessories for it and all are very inexpensive. Their customer service is through the roof awesome. Even though they are in HI, they ship to NJ in 2-3 days. Second(and not by much) is Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.. They carry everything, and they have a range of starter kits that go from cheap 30$ to the normal 75ish, each come with varrying items. Their customer service is also AWESOME. Cant go wrong with either one.

I agree with buying different strength juice. I almost reverted to smoking because my juice was not strong enough.
It may be less expensive to buy the strongest mg juice in a flavor you like and then buy 0 mg in the same flavor. Then you can dilute them to your personal pref.

There are juice calculators around here in the diy juice section. They are simple enough to use. You put in what mg juice you have, and what mg of juice you want and it tells you how many drops or mls to use to get the desired mg.
I found that in the am I must have 36mg but during the day I can use as low as 0mg. Then after dinner or at bed time it is back to the 36 for a little bit.

order made, thanks everyone. went with the 510 and bought a bunch of 24mg juice. this SHOULD be the right strength, as i smoke light cigarettes and they are just a step lower than the 36mg. i have a good feeling about this. i am a tech geek, so an ecig seems like just the thing. heres hoping!

I think you'll like the 510. I started with it and have been off analogs since the second week. It's a relatively inexpensive intro to this whole vaping thing and whether or not it's going to work for you. It most likely will. Have fun and good luck!

allen, If you're a tech geek I'll bet you dollars to diodes you're gonna get into building mods before long. I started after vaping for a month and I had never touched a soldering iron before. I'm building copper pipe mods laminated with decorative wooden veneers now (I'm actually a woodworker). This can become an obsessive hobby.......Easily.

this is not a shameless attempt to up my post count haha. while waiting for my first order to arrive it occurred to me that perhaps i shouldve ordered from a different retailer, just so i could get the stainless steel e-cig. cignot only has black and white. i guess its not such a big deal.

2 questions.

how long do atomizers and batteries last until you have to replace them?

secondly, how many puffs do you get from 5ml of juice? ive heard anywhere from one day to several weeks. im sure its different for everyone, but on average?

5ml can last you a few days or a few weeks, just depends on how much you vape. I've been at this for a month or so and just a few days ago I finished a 5ml bottle.

If you take care of your atties and batteries they can last you quite awhile, but atties can be temper mental sometimes and just go out on you for no reason, so it's best to keep a few spares just in case. I'm still using the same atties that I got with my 510 when I ordered it about a month ago and just this past week I got an Ego.

ego? i was just looking at that. how much longer does the battery last vs the standard battery? how heavier/longer is it? also, whats the difference between the ego cignot sells and the mega that all the other retailers sell.
