Hello!

I just upgraded from an EGO passthrough to a VAMO and to be honest I'm not overly pleased, but I don't think it's so much the PV as the tanks/attys I'm using. Have some questions since this is my first "mod".

I got a Nova tank from Altsmoke (not sure if these are genuine Vision Vivis?) and I'm less than pleased with it, the vapor production is "OK" but seems to be taking a lot of the TH and flavor out of the juice for some reason. I honestly feel like I was getting better hits and flavor from the EGO and CE5 clearo. Is there really a big difference between genuine vivi's and the knock offs (not even sure if I have knock off) but looking at the thing it looks like a glorified CE5, I'm really confused on how this thing isn't performing as good as the EGO/Clearos. I've tried a couple of the different heads 1.8 ohm/2.4 ohm on almost all the diff wattage/voltage settings I can and it all seems the same, the vapor also seems to be cooler than I'm used to and I'm not really liking that.

I also got a couple LR attys for dripping, but not really enjoying that much. I forget to drip and get a mouthful of burnt up atty flavor that really ruins whatever mood I was currently in. I'm going to order a drip sheild for it as that seems to be the way to go, so maybe that will help some. I do like the vapor/hit from the dripping but it's a hassle I don't think I really want to deal with in the long run.

So... then I went and got an 510 to Ego adapter for my CE5 clearos and the damn connection point thing is made too long or doesn't want to work right with the CE5s because the first thing it did was push my connector pin down past the rubber insulation ring on the VAMO, so I've already had to do the whole rigamarole of pulling that pin back up and getting the ring back around it, would definitely rather not have that pushed down again so I stopped trying the adapter. I fiddled with it some at first and the only way to get it to not push down the connector pin and still work was have everything was looser than I'm comfortable with... perhaps someone can point me to a working adapter that doesn't have that issue?

Was so excited about getting my first mod, but after several days of fiddling with it, I find myself here with my ego passthrough and CE5. Which is disappointing obviously. Anyone have any ideas on tanks/carts/attys I can try to help out here? Perhaps a link to a clearo adapter that will work without issue? Starting to feel silly for wanting a PV with a clearo on it but nothing else has worked as good so far.

Hi Day,
You shouldn't need an adapter to use a CE5 with a Vamo. The Vamo has ego threading down around the post, as well as a 510 connection. Others have posted that they use CE5s with the Vamo, and other "stardust" type clearos. The T3s don't fit because they are too wide, but the CE type clearos do.

Hmm, thanks for the reply but what I have definitely doesn't fit in the well, I think the older CE4 (or what my local shop calls CE4) would fit and I may have to just revert to those, but they did not have the replaceable head/wick that (again what my local shop calls CE5) does have, which is really nice. The bottom rim on this is just slightly too big to fit in there.

Heres a link to what I'm using, (hope its not against the rules to link this vendor): CE5 Clearomizer

Sounds like you Have the Kanger EGO which is to thick

You were definately cranking the adaptor to tight. A little sloopy is ok. You are only supposed to tighten any of this stuff until contact is felt regardless of TIGHT/wiggle.
Over tightening only serves to push things around and cause damage.

Any regular Ce4, Ce5, Carto or tank will fit the Vamo - (yes I use one) Kanger and EGO Clearomizers work with the adapter. Tank adapter type D is nice to hols tanks tight.

Vamo performance:
Press both small buttons for 5 seconds to switch to VW
Press either small button 15 seconds to set NO2 mode (rms mode)
Set to 6.5-7w to test and adjust up/down from there.

It is a learning curve same as learning your PC,cell phone, etc. Patients is required

Ok good to know on the adapter, I was thinking something was wrong with the one I have, was def tightening too much if it should be just past contact. I don't really like the risk of pushing that contact down again though. Feel like I already damaged my new toy!

After reading "What tank are you using thread" in the vamo subforum, I ordered a couple innokin iclear 16's, which basically seem to be what I'm using now except they are dual coil and per other users they fit without the adapter. They should be here in a couple days I'll be sure to report back how they work and such.

I'm thinking the atty head on these clearos are closer to the mouthpiece than the nova tanks? I'm still so disappointed in that tank, why does the vapor seem "cold"?

Thanks very much for the replies so far guys.

Hi Day - looking at the link (and yes, its fine to post it), you bought the Ego CE5. They say this "This new system is designed specifically for Joyetech eGo batteries."
As Crxess mentioned, regular Ce5s will fit the Vamo. Like these:
Kanger 510 CE5 Clearomizers

Ah cool, the source of the confusion... wish they wouldn't call all these things the same thing haha.. thanks for the link, that makes a lot more sense. I'll give those a shot if I don't like the iClears that are on the way.

The one I linked only hold 1ml. I don't know who sells the bigger size.

You might also want to check if your VAMO is not defective. It may be pushing out different voltages than what it displays on screen. I bought this unit for dirt cheap, so I have been skeptical to its rated performance initially.

It seems like you have been using top coil clearomizers and don't like the vape they provide. May I suggest trying a bottom coil design, such as the Kanger T3?

After toying around with different clearomizers/cartos, my personal method of vaping is with carto tanks and kanger T3 coming behind in 2nd place. Nothing better than a working carto tank filled with your favorite juice!!

Yes I had already switched to No2 and was hanging around 7w already, thanks for the suggestions... I really think it's my choice of tanks, and just wasn't pleased with that Nova/dripping. I may take the suggestion of re-wicking it however haven't done that before, so I will have to look into that. using efest 2000mah 18650

I did play with the adapter and clearo last night after I was told to just make contact, and it is a much better vape, more like what I'm used too, even a little better obviously as I have some control over volts or wattage. I just hate that it feels so loose. Hoping those iclears work out.

Well every independent review I've seen that has tested accuracy has found the Vamo quite accurate. If its in RMS mode you're fine. I've used mine heavily for about three months now and I would notice if it was inconsistent. Day's issue is obviously with the juice delivery systems - he has ego threaded CE5s but needs a regular CE5. It clearly has nothing to do with his pv being defective. However, coming from an Ego to a Vamo the Vamo is going to give you more consistency under load.
Start at the 18 minute mark on Phil Busardo's review for the test numbers:

Ok I said I'd come back and update this thread after I got my iclear 16s, have had them about a week now and man those are exactly what I was looking for. I ended up following the instructions in this thread to fix my washer issue. The #60 washers are perfect, fit super tight, the pin is super stable now. I think I really messed it up with that 510-ego adapter but now it's working flawlessly.

The iclear 16 fits perfect without an adapter and the dual coils and huge wicks are giving me massive clouds of vapor. I am super happy with this thing now! Thanks for all the help everyone.
