Hi I am brand new to this forum so I’m not quite sure if this is the right place to post this thread, but anyways, yesterday I bought a brand new trinity alpha. I’ve owned pod systems in the past and I thought it would be a nice upgrade to my avp. However, when I arrived back at my house, I popped the 0.6ohm coil from the box in to it, then filled it with 48mg killer kustard, pinaple express juice and let the cool soak for about 20mins. When I finally hit it, it was the extremely harsh, it was like a burning, prickly sensation in my mouth throat and nose. I tried hitting it a couple more times but they all hurt. So then I thought it must be a bad coil and changed the coil for the 0.8ohm one, this time I primed the coil by dropping a few drops of juice in the top then I put it in the pod, filled it, waited like 10mins and hit it to the exact same feeling as the previous coil. I have never had a device hit like this and I’m really not sure why this is happening even after I changed the coil, if anyone has any ideas on why this would be, I would love to hear them!

Your description of the sensation sounds like way too much nic. I'm thinking the Trinity Alpha is a 30 watt device and may be intended for much lower nic levels (3-6mg) than the many pods that are lower power mouth to lung devices. You could try by starting at the lowest power level, and possibly change it to the Soft setting too. Picking up some lower nic liquid may be the key though. Welcome to ECF and good luck!

Yes sounds like way too much of everything. Need to tone it down using vg or pg. Yes it could reduce the nic amount in terms of mg but I doubt you will even miss the difference.

Tractor supply does carry some pg and/or get some humco vg at walmart in the pharmacy area. VG is very thick so also see if you can get distilled water or at least a bottle of water to add a few drops to the vg to make it easier to work with. I would take your bottle and an empty bottle. Add some of the ejuice you bought and then add a little of the pg or vg that you bought plus a couple drops of water. Shake well and try that in your tank. You can take the same coils and use them but remember it will take a few puffs for the weakened flavor to kick in.
At least this way you can save your juice and use it. There is nothing more frustrating than having a juice you cannot vape.

Let us know how it goes. If still too strong add just a little more pg/bg/dw to the diluted version. If you would like it a bit stronger after initial dilution then just add a small bit back from original bottle. Don't be afraid to try.

Good Luck....

:)

My mate uses a trinity alpha with 10mg nic salts and the flavour and throat hit is decent, he has used both the 0.6 and 0.8 coils.
He did use 6mg e liquid too before changing for the salts off my recommendation. I find nic salts perfect for a quick hit, good flavour and a smooth hit. I found with e liquids they were hit and miss between different brands

Thank you very much, I’ll have to try this out!

Hello @Bluefacefan, the Innokin Kroma R or Aspire Nautilus GT kits would probably have been a better option as you have much more adjustment over the experience.

They're just ideas though.
How do you find the nautilus gt? I have an nx40 (rover 2) at the minute but looked at the get but have pre ordered the smok fetch pro instead completely different really it’s a pod mod but looks interesting

I've no experience with the Nautilus GT, but it's the latest version from Aspire and Taifun (German high end atomiser manufacturer).

There's a thread on the forums about them though.
Aspire Nautilus GT tank

I have tried an Innokin Zlide though, which is included in the Kroma R kit. That was quite nice.

But with either option it's best to consider the coils first, as in availability and resistance (lower produces a hotter vape with more vapour and higher produces a cooler vape with less vapour).

Personally I'm a TC (Temperature Coefficient/Temperature Control) restricted DTL (Direct To Lung) style vaper, with a preference for flavour.

But I can read and try when I can, as it's nice to know what options are out there.
